You could twist the wire, solder it into the shape you want. The sand the bottom and just sweat solder. If you don;t want to sand the bottom flat you could just tack it where the pieces of wire touch the bottom surface. Another idea is to put your twisted wire through the rolling mill to flatten it (on both sides) then sweat solder. I hope this helps.

Not if you don't put too much on to begin with. Usually there is very little clean up there.
