Nah to be pwned it needs to be one team thrashing another. San Paulo were completely outplayed and the officials played far to much a part in the game. Two of Liverpool's three disallowed goals were perfectly fine and when the San Paulo players couldn't get the ball off Liverpool, they resorted to kicking lumps out of the opposition and the ref let it all go. A really bad advert for football this one.

Actually, Liverpool didn't take it seriously until 2005. In the final, Liverpool put the ball in the back of the net three times totally outplaying Sao Paulo. Two of the three disallowed goals were perfectly fine and Sao Paulo were allowed to kick the LFC players all night. It's for reasons like this that interest in the competition will vanish again. English clubs are more concerned about how being abroad mid-season will affect their league title hopes.

No one's trying to BS you. I watched the game and being English I know full well how much priority it gets here. Nobody counts the wins much. It's a competition that vanishes for years and then re-emerges and it's held midseason in Europe and brings in very little cash. Qualification for the Champions League is worth far more to a Premiership side. That cup against mostly minnow sides doesn't generate much interest at all. Only fans of the side in it even pay it a passing glance.
