  • So lessig, how do you feel now about obama?

  • @wongster41 Lessig has probably lost his job, home, and computer and can't respond to tell you how shitty it's gotten.

  • @farrier616 lol

  • 23 Trillion to bailout banks who've been in business making billions for hundreds of years and now caught betting against their own loans. You think Obama gives a shit about you? You are sadly mistaken.

  • how you uploaded this video ??

as i know the max is 15..

  • If you love Obama, you'll live this...!

    ^_^

    /watch?v=eAaQNACwaLw

  • suckers

  • inspiring, but time will tell

  • how do u upload a 20 minutes vid!

as i knew youtube only admits up to 10 minutes

  • @wiinippongamer if you have a partner channel you can , if you just want to upload bullshit and pirate movies then you are stuck with 10min .. but don't worry it's been upgraded to 20min few weeks ago .. happy now?

  • Never for him against him i dont care what everyone says i wanted Mccain 2 win i cant believe 2 people fiquare out that half the people voted for him couss he was black and i cant wait till people fiquare out that they just got caught up in "making history" and not making a smart choice

  • You've been had pal. Obama is a puppet for the offshore private banks that own him. This is why he's crushing the dollar and why he hired geithner a wall street crook and emanuel the zionist nazi. Obama is not your buddy. he doesn't give a fuck about you. Hes sending us into a depression that will make the last one look like a walk in the park. And how's that war in iraq lookin? How bout pakistan? You've been duped. Learn to farm

  • wanting new friends

i cant watch this video oE

  • that was good. 5 stars & favorited!

  • what site did u get this from

  • learn to be concise. no one wants to listen to you anymore.

  • This was really informative back in January. Integrity should be a big key. Obama's vote on FISA should be proof he has already lost that integrity, and he is not even president yet. Ron Paul is as big a joke as our constitution, but I can't morally justify voting for any of these other talking heads.

  • militar

    military

  • He would only get assassinated if the powers that be saw him as a threat... And no... he is not. He is just another puppet.

  • *Yawn* No one who's actually registered to vote is going to confuse your schoolboy apathy ("he's just another puppet") with political savvy. Move along.

    Nice video, btw.

  • man f*ck u!

  • People like this are hypocrites. They ignored everything the Clintons did during the 1990s. Democrats want to talk about unity? We can talk about this so called unity when they admit that not all Republicans are racists and that some of the crap the Clintons did in the 1990s was wrong. Instead of ignoring it and then gripping about 2000/2004.

I am a republican so I can't stand the Clintons. I love being able to say I told you so, we where right all along.

  • quietly powerful

  • The thing that first interested me about Obama is that his campaign is funded mostly by the people. That hasn't been done in decades! Usually it comes from corporations and lobbyists and if that's where the money is from then that's who you work for. Simple as that. Obama is for the people.

  • You are sadly mistaken. Barak's money comes mostly from Wall Street. He is a member of the CFR. Do you know what that organization stands for? The media squashed all of the non CFR candidates. No matter who wins this election, it will be more of the same on a downward spiralling scale for the average person. All that matters is the military/industrial/pharma complex. You don't and neither do I!

  • I think we need to be more worried that Obama is another Jimmy Carter. The media is owned by corporations but that has nothing to do with CPR, unless C stands for Communists.

The media is controlled by the Liberal Elitists, and Obama is their new Messiah. They will attempt to destroy anyone that stands in the way of his election.

Have people forgotten Dan Rather and Memogate.

  • What the hell is the CPR? The Canadian Pacific Railroad? As for liberals controllling the nedia you best look into the institutions set up by Reagan and advocated by 8 years of Bush to keep news from the masses. It's obvious from the posts here that most viewers of this video get their news from Fox. and therefore have been brainwashed beyond any sense of reality.

Have people forgotten Richard Nixon and Watergate?

With who your nedia is promoting, you'd better be worried about WHOEVER wins...

  • The video is called "Why I am 4Barack." WHAT DID YOU EXPECT?

  • BA-RACK ON!!!

  • im getting old,i found this very interesting

  • im getting old,i found this very interesting

  • im getting old,i found this very interesting

  • im getting old,i found this very interesting

  • Come on. I am a proud supporter of McCain and I don't like Obama, but don't say that stuff. It's not cool and not funny.

  • The CEO of a company whose employee is accused of improperly accessing the passport files of presidential candidates is a consultant to the Obama campaign.

John Brennan, president of The Analysis Corporation (TAC), advises the Illinois Democrat on foreign policy and intelligence issues.

The executive is a former senior CIA official and former interim director of the National Counterterrorism Center. He contributed $2,300 to the Obama campaign.

  • I think way, way too little credit is given to the FACT that whites were the first nation to abolish slavery The blacks and the whites, regardless of what initially brought us together, created this nation together, considering the success on the bigger picture, (it's certainly not perfect) but better than others have managed. I'd say we're a heck of a team. I embrace my black neighbors. In fact I cling to them for life! I feel that UNITED WE STAND and DIVIDED WE FALL!.

  • Together, huh. You for me, and me for you. Slave owner and slave, hand in hand, working together for the betterment of all mankind. Read a book.

  • Wake up...shut off the TV/Radio. Read a book! Most Americans believe there is actually a democratic process in existence here in the U.S. I bet all of you believed, on September 11, 2001 that we were attacked by outsiders. Most of America did. Do you now? C'mon, you want to see if we really have power? Don't vote McCain, Clinton, nor Obama. All of us vote for any one else. I bet you we fail....(JFK about 9/11) If you love this country, do something about it. Vote. Study. Rep/Dem does not exist!!

  • Excellent!

  • Like a soft yet powerful song.

  • To attack the Clinton camp for misconstruing quotes and not do the same to Obama is irresponsible and "Rovean". To favor Obama based on his limited track record is ludicrous. Clinton would be a better president BECAUSE she is a true politician who DOES yield principal to political pressure. It is called reciprocity; it is what politics is about. It is WHY Clinton has more allies in political power and WHY she would be more able to actually implement change.

  • Clinton AND Obama are BOTH such whiney little bitches that they are shaming the Dem party and handing the election over to the Reps/McCain. Mark my words.

  • we have come to expect so little of our leaders. We dont even expect a small level of honest. You can accept politics as it is or you can change it.Politics is practiced based on how many votes a style of politics yields. If you vote for the person that uses fear and distortion they will continue to use it and so will everyone else.We need to take responsibility for our country and stop trying to blame all our problems on our leaders.Inspired change has less backlash than forced change

  • foto you speak of fear and distortion what do you think is happening in all those caucuses Obama does so well in. Lets see, could it be fear of standing up to the croud even if they berate you as they did to an old lady in Ia and another in Tx. and calling people racist as they have done in every state. How about the distortion of his records by sponsoring bills as his own that were stolen from other polititions.Obama just gives a good speach with no actual substance

  • you're just ignorant

  • This clown attacks the Swiftboat veterans and just like all leftists before him makes no effort to disprove their criticism of Kerry. Kerry failed to disprove their claims, and he lost the election as a result.

Barack Obama a is a cynical creation designed for people incapable of rational analysis of this ilk. I'd like to hear Obama's reaction to the notion that his election would be a signal to the world that we acknowledge acting insanely. I think he would call Lessig a fool.

  • latteliberal, I cannot believe I am reading a statement like yours in 2008! Your narrowmindedness toward other races does more harm to the Christian belief than anything that any politician could say. You are obviously a follower of Rove, not Jesus. I feel sorry for you.

  • Stubbs213, you obviously have swallowed political propaganda hook, line, and sinker. Do a little research, and you will learn that the Swifties have not been able to prove one word of what they claimed. No wonder everyone understands when they say someone has been "swiftboated." We ALL know what that means. Even one 10-million-dollar contributor has distanced himself by saying that he didn't know what his donation was going for -- he just thought he was helping the GOP to win the election.

  • No person has refuted the claims of the SSwift

  • the swift boat veterans didn't even know Kerry during the war. "served with John Kerry" meant they were both in the country of Vietnam at the same time, and none of the allegations turned out to be true, check your facts moron

  • Just more nanny state policies. Just what we need more government run institutions!

  • No matter what ones opinion is on his view for Obama and no matter how wrong or right they feel he is on this video. One thing is for sure. He has put to gether a great argument and deserves credit. Well supported facts and much evidence. I am still doing my soul searching for who i will vote for but this is a great source of info. Well done

  • Excellent Factual Presentation! Obamanation!

  • goes to show how much you know about Obama. He's not all media, and maybe you should learn some grammar.

  • If you vote, and you elect dishonest, incompetent people and they get into office and screw everything up, you are responsible for what they have done. You caused the problem. You voted them in. You have no right to complain.

  • There was a time when I supported all the major Democratic presidential candidates. Obama always seemed the most reasonable, but I still thought highly of Hilary. As her Rovian attacks on Obama piled up, I lost respect for Hilary. This video nailed the reason why I now exclusively support Obama.

  • Obamanation.

  • That was amazing. An incredibly inspiring video. Keep up the hard work with your videos. They're extremely helpful and show knowledge and research of which is hard to find now a days. Keep it up!

  • Well said Mr. Lessig, I'm glad someone summed this up so nicely. I'm going to share this with a few folks.

Here's hoping for a sane candidate in the White House!

  • This is a fantastic elaboration of why I support Obama!!! Vote! Donate! Volunteer! Do what we can during this election!

  • OBAMA '08

  • CHANGE WE CAN BEVLIEVE IN

    OBAMA 08

  • Excellent video! Thanks for making this.

    OBAMA 08

  • I will say again- Obama was poor. this gives him an understanding my rich friends do not "see". the speeches are great but not the reason I am for Obama and voted for a first time in a primary

  • Please Barack, please oh please be our daddy!

Why I just tear up when I hear you speak. And no one can say the word Change like you can. Nor quite as often. And I love the way people get that glassy eyed look when you speak. It reminds me of the power of Jim Jones, when he was preaching.

And it's so cool to be a supporter also. Every young teen and almost all the Europeans love you. They can't vote for you this time, but you could change that when you win!

    Yeah for Barry!

  • Thank you very much sir, I was inspired by your presentation.

  • Really awesome!

  • GO OBAMA

    Fantastic presentation

  • Professor Lessig represented web site operator Eric Eldred in the ground-breaking case Eldred v. Ashcroft, a challenge to the 1998 Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extension Act. He has won numerous awards, including the Free Software Foundation's Freedom Award, and was named one of Scientific American's Top 50 Visionaries, for arguing "against interpretations of copyright that could stifle innovation and discourse online."

  • Thankyou to ...Lawrence Lessig who is a Professor of Law at Stanford Law School and founder of the school's Center for Internet and Society. Prior to joining the Stanford faculty, he was the Berkman Professor of Law at Harvard Law School, and a Professor at the University of Chicago. He clerked for Judge Richard Posner on the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals and Justice Antonin Scalia on the United States Supreme Court.

  • I think the people that attack Obama are folks that see the color of his skin. These people are both Democrats and Republican. They simply aren't ready for a black man for President and they attack him without good reason.

  • Gonzomoe8, I am not racist. I am able to look beyond race and make an objective analysis as to who has the best policy and is best qualified to lead America forward. Everything is based on facts. Its not speculation or conjecture.

  • Atrufollower: You flatter yourself. Your facts are scewed and your objective analysis is decidedly subjective. Nice try, crowning yourself arbiter of truth and politics once more.

  • Over the past year I have read 1000s of posts on 100s of blogs and have come to that same conclusion. The criticisms of Sen Obama's candidacy have been largely baseless, overwhelmingly contradictory and devoid of facts.

Moreover, I have consistently observed the racial undertones in most of the demonstrably unpleasant comments about Sen Obama.

The fact that most of these folks are self proclaimed HRC supporters is alarming as it indicates that prevalence of racism amongst the 'liberals'.

  • I'm not a liberal - more of a moderate. I don't particularly like Hillary Clinton, but I see her as a potentially outstanding President. I have no interest in Sen. Obama's color, just in the impossible gibberish he is selling to the American voters. Democrats would most likely have united around a candidate this year, but Sen. Obama has seriously fractured the party. How can he be expected to unite all Americans?

  • How is he fracturing the party? sounds like gibberish to me. Or do you mean by fracturing that a percentage will choose for this candidate and the remaining for the other? Fine, but I rather call it 'election'.

And don't tell the people that its impossible, this will fuel their engine to work harder to make it happen. Cynicism is a sorry kind of wisdom. YES YOU CAN (I'm no American)

  • If Sen. Obama becomes President, I hope you're right and that I'm wrong. I just don't think I can vote for him . There have to be many other Democrats as well who will desert the party to vote for the other candidate. I was looking forward to a Democratic victory this year but he terrifies me. I believe he can do too much damage because he seems to believe he can inspire a revolution. I'm sorry. We'll just have to disagree.

  • gemstarh, I think you need to take some med!

McCain is less dangerous than Obama?!? That's funny! google youtube and see McCain's 100 years and shut up!

You must be a good Republican :-). Your days are over!

    Obama 2008!

  • gemstarh, I think you need to take some med!

McCain is less dangerous than Obama?!? That's funny! Search youtube and see McCain's 100 years war and shut up!

You must be a good Republican :-). Your days are over!

    Obama 2008!

  • edrubangura, a really excellent way to unite all Americans is to shut up dissension. Perhaps Obama followers are far more dangerous than the Senator. If you take meds I encourage you to keep taking them.

  • I am not insulting you, but I just find you to be stupid!

If you want to vote for McCain, be ready for 100 years old. Now the Iraq war cost us already $2 trillions, and your children will have to pay for it. An now you want more $ trillions for McCain to waste for Iran!

By the way, Edwards also voted for the Iraq War!

Your hope and your hope for children now is to elect Obama as our President!

  • edrubangura, I'm glad to hear I'm just stupid and not ignorant. If you plan to be part of the Obama grassroots movement, you need to become more patient and tolerant of others. The idea is to bring people along for the ride not alienate them. But honestly what will unite people are basic economic issues: shelter, clothing, food, education, training, skills, jobs, etc. and those are Sen. Clinton's priorities. Then move forward with change. No doubt you'll disagree but that's America so it's OK.

  • gemstarh,

I am a very tolerant guy and I am not here to insult you! But someone who would want to go negatives on Obama so that McCain and Hillary can be elected and go to war with Iran and wasted again an other $ 2 trillions of taxes for the Iran illegal war, deserve to be called stupid! You are really stupid when you say that Obama is dangerous! Obama is peaceful while McCain and Hillary are warmongers!

    Do you get it?!?

  • No, I'm afraid I don't.

  • gemstarh,

You are a stupid idiot, to say the least, gemestarh!

So, you are afraid of revolution?!? Why are you afraid of revolution between the people against the establishment/bush/clition dynasties and their handlers who are destroying our $ currency? Our greenback is being devalued everyday so that we can move toward North American Unions and you are afraid of revolution?

    Shame on you, gemstarh!

  • I don't indulge in labels, but obviously I'm aware of them.

Please do explain why you ascertained that Hillary would make an "outstanding president".

    Do qualify Sen Obama's "gibberish".

Do explain Sen Obama's divisive tactics that "has seriously fractured the party".

I encourage you to conduct your own research on all of the candidates, especially their positions on the issues and more importantly engage in deep self-introspection and assess the true nature of your decisions.

  • I feel like Sen.Obama is a Pied Piper leading people away from realities. I just don't understand how those who listen to him are impressed. (I suppose I feel it's more like they are beguiled.) With respect to divisiveness, I would have voted for Senators Biden or Dodd or Gov. Richardson. They all had depth and experience. I hate to vote for Sen. McCain because of his war policies but at this point he seems far less dangerous than Sen. Obama, so if the election was today, he'd have my vote.

  • Your wish in voting for Senators Biden, tells it all!

Biden wants to divide Iraq in three parts, idiot!

  • edrubangura,I omitted saying that I would also have supported John Edwards. He was actually my first choice in 2004 and it was a toss-up this year between he and Senator Clinton. If I'm an idiot, then I'm an idiot but I respect people and their opinions and treat them graciously, unlike some Obama supporters.

  • I am not insulting you, but I just find you to be stupid, one of the brainwashed americans!

If you want to vote for McCain, be ready for a100 years war. Now the Iraq war cost us already $2 trillions, and your children will have to pay for it. An now you want more $ trillions of taxes for McCain to waste for Iran!

By the way, Edwards also voted for the Iraq War!

Your hope and the hope for your children now is to elect Obama as our President!

  • I am breathless - this just shows how POWERFUL truth is. Simple words, spoken softly and simply deliver a punch because they come from a simple yet powerful place and that place is - truth.

Obama's speech last night was for the most part, one he has given countless times before. What was different last night was the part that spoke of "words do matter".

Words certainly matter when they are spoken from the heart and from a place of truth.

  • atrufollower: you did compare obama to all three. You compared their oratory skills. Its a keen little way to put them all ion the same sentence and then back away and cover your back. -- that is comparing them. You cannot hide on this one. Not even from yourself.

  • The record speaks for itself on the reference issue and yes I consider myself to be reasonable intelligent. If my metaphor about "bridges and fools" offends you please accept my apology it is not my intent. I respect all fact based arguments and welcome the dialogs.

  • In a July debate the candidates were asked if they would be commit to meeting, within their first year in office, with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea? Obama's answer was "Yes". How can the President of the United States commit to a meeting without first have an agenda.

  • atrufollower: "The record speaks for itself on the reference issue?!?!?!" OK -- I guess that you admit that you inappropriately compared Obama to Hitler, et al. Once again -- stay classy.

"Bridges for fools" is inflammatory and not based on facts.

You say you accept fact based arguments, but you cherry pick your facts and ignore the opposing side to them.

  • Phenomenal. I applaud you. Thank you for pointing out the sliminess of the Clinton campaign. It's quite Rovian-lite. A new day is coming!

  • Please elaborate. I can only assume this is a typo or you lack intelligence.

  • People often ask me, as hard off as I am, "Why did you donate money to Barack Obama?" Well that raises the more important question, "Why haven't YOU donated to Barack Obama yet?" Change is happening NOW America. Be a part of it. This man IS America. Let's get it RIGHT this time! Wondering what YOU can do? How can YOUR voice be heard? Visit Obama Website to DONATE Your Support Today. YES WE CAN!
  • That crushed.

  • Outstanding video. The analysis is well reasoned and crystallizes many of the thoughts I have had about Obama and this campaign.

America wants and is ready for this kind of change.

    Obama '08

  • Thank you for doing this. This really helps to explain to my friends why I believe in him SO MUCH!. I felt his integrity and genuineness. Tht things you said about Hillary are absolutely true. I just hate it when she also steals Obama's slogans Now McCain is doing it too! I don't want my Commander and Chief to be known for being a liar and a cheat! We've had him already for 8 long years thank you. Awesome job!

  • if you think obama is a novice, consider what the "novice" stands for, and remember that everyone else is a novice at the job of president.

  • 1stpj, The Presidency is an office and the President is a title. Every job has a job description and while you may have never held the title you may have performed the task articulated in the job description. Obama has never operated in the executive branch of government and has arguably been ineffective in his capacity legislative operator. Clinton has operated within the executive branch and touts a long resume of tactical legislative accomplishments. Lets not marginalize the Presidency.

  • Laura Bush has "operated" in the Executive Branch in the government; does this make her qualified to be the President of the United States?

  • Possibly. I don't know her well enough. However if she runs for senate, wins a seat, and can get the largest states in the country to vote for her I might be inclined to think she has potential. What do you think?

  • So -- the qualifications you require are running for senate, winning a seat, and then getting a lot of people to vote for you? Hmmm.... with your logic it seems that you must believe Obama to have more potential than Hillary.

  • I consider the George W Bush Presidency to be the worst of my lifetime while I believe the Bill Clinton Presidency was very positive for both the U.S. and for our international image and relationships. What Laura Bush as learned from her time in the White House might not move the country forward.

  • To atruleader: Didn't you just marginalize the presidency when you reduced it to being the CEO of a Company?

  • Their is no doubt that Barack Obama is an inspirational speaker. However inspirational words don't pay bills. What pays bill is the type of economic environment that Hillary Clinton is proposing with her economic plan. What is Barack's plan. To be inspired and be hungry is the same things as being hungry and being inspired. What we need is a tactician that can move this country one degree to the left and one degree to the right until we are in alignment. Barack is not proven to be tactical.

  • Obama has proven to be tactical enough to slowly and surely beat Hillary Clinton in this campaign. And now hillary is going negative -- bashing hope. Stay Classy, Clinton.

And if you REALLY want to know more about Obama's stance on issues, economic or otherwise -- they are very easy to find. Just go to his website.

The notion that all we need is a tactician to move the country in small degrees is ridiculous.

  • Obama's Campaign is about telling people what they want to hear. That's what Bush did. His rhetoric gives everybody what they want. For example, he says he will immediately remove the troops from Iraq unless Al Queda is building bases. Since we know Al Queda is building bases I can only assume he has no intentions of withdrawing the troops and ending the war. You should read his website because I have examined it. Just double talk and rhetoric. What needs to be "changed" about our country? ...

  • ONE QUESTION!

How many of you DID NOT have to go through ON THE JOB TRAINING when you were hired for any job? Every job has on-the-job training (from the CEO to the mail-boy). So that READY ON DAY ONE slogan is crap! Just my opinion,

    OBAMA '08

  • bassmorpheus, Our country is not a ship headed in the wrong direction. It is a company that has been poorly manged for the last 7 years. We need to oust the current CEO and bring in a seasoned executive that can very quickly assess the issues and make the tough decisions before our creditors step in and take the company. Time is of the essence and yes we need someone who on day one can step up and make the necessary adjustments to get our stock price back up.

  • To atruleader: Our country may not be a "Ship," but it is also not merely a company. And the presidency is much more than the CEO of America, and the president is responsible for much more than "getting our stock price back up."

All TRUE LEADERS understand that one of the most important qualities of leadership is the ability to motivate and inspire. Its common knowledge. see->Obama

By the way- mind laying out all this experience that Hillary has that makes her more qualified on day one?

  • It's so odd that so many people want to give the most important job in the world to a relative novice - Scary

  • When you talk about integrity and judgement you say their is not connection between funding the troops and supporting then war. Please explain how you draw a connection between a senator authorizing the president to go to war and supporting the war. To authorize is not to support it is to allow. furthermore the President already has the constitutional authority to commit the troops so the vote for authorization was a commitment to support the troops if the president exercised his authority.

  • Very good and sane analysis of the candidates. I would like to hear more of this kind of sane analysis rather than smear attacks and Rovism.

    Obama '08

  • Lessig,

You comment in your video that Hillary Clinton has Character flaws. How do you feel about Barack Obama statement that he voted "present" while he was a member of the Illinois Congress because he felt that certain clauses in the proposed legislation were unconstitutional... Is it fair to say that not standing up and saying unequivecally "no" to legislation you believe to be unconstitutional is a sign of weak character. Especially as a congressman who has taken an oath to protect it.

  • atruleader: Isn't it also fair to say that not standing up and saying "no" when you believe a pre-emptive war would be wrong is a sign of weak character? Especially when you stay "seated" because you want to appear "tough on terror" in preparation for a presidential bid?

You are grasping at straws with this one buddy, and are exposing yet again that people are looking for ANYTHING to bring down the best candidate we have had in our country in a long long time.

  • Elpomari, Again another blatant misrepresentation of the bill that was voted on. Please read the bill and my previous post. Your second sentence is speculation. Nothing I have said is speculation. They are the candidates own words. I am not trying to bring Obama down I am trying to lift America up. Is Obama proposing we "change" the constitution? We need to make "adjustments" to policy and I can't ascertain Obama's position on policy. Is being "tough on terror" bad?

  • OK -- I think I am dealing with an idiot here.

Plenty of what you have said is speculation and misrepresentation. Most of it, actually.

The Bill to invade Iraq was essentially a vote for a prempitve war and Hillary supported it and has NEVER admitted that it was a mistake.

I am sure you consider yourself "atrueleader" for trying to "lift America up" by comparing Obama to Hitler, Stalin, and Bin Laden. Real classy.

And how is invading Iraq being "tough on terror" when Iraq never attacked us?

  • Please identify what you consider to be speculation so I can provide the facts. It's interesting how you expanded the comparison to include Stalin. The Irag War Resolution is H.J.RES.114 and PUBLIC LAW 107--243—OCT. 16, 2002. Let me know once you have read it so we can have an informed discussion about what it represented. Personally, I was against the Ira q war also but I am not going to mis characterize who took us to war. Declaring war is an executive branch function. Holler when your ready.

  • Thanks for your uber superior tone. You seem SO ready to have an honest discussion. Sorry about the Stalin reference - I forgot what sociopaths you were comparing Obama to. Nice job using Arafat instead. But you still haven't explained yourself. Do you think doing such a thing is part of an intelligent discussion?

You should be ashamed of yourself.

I'll make a list of all your speculations and misrepresentations and get back to you. might take a while .

  • atruleader: You clearly do not know anything about the Ill. Senate or the purpose of voting "present" rather than simply "no." Members of the senate may approve the intent of legislation, but not its scope/the way it was drafted. "Present" votes signals that the legislator might support an amended version. Voting "Present" can also be a way to exercise fiscal restraint, without opposing the subject of a bill. So a "Present" vote is hardly a clue to weak character. more a clue to keen judgement.

  • Do you believe that an elected official should allow a bill to become law that he believes is unconstitutional because he votes "present"? Is the Constitution the document that this great nation is founded on? Did Obama take an oath to defend the constitution? Could he voice his concerns to the bill sponsors prior to the vote? DON'T PLAY POLITICS WITH OUR FREEDOM. TOO MANY PEOPLE HAVE DIED FOR US TO GET IT! To remain neutral while our constitutional rights are being violated is unconscionable.

  • Atrueleader: In Illinois, its not majority rules that gets a bill passed. Voting "present" in the illinois is essentially a no. Look it up. Its true. And Hillary should know this -- her husband used to teach constitutional law. You are getting angry about something you are fundamentally uninformed about, and parroting a criticism you have heard elsewhere.

By the way, do you honestly think Hillary is NOT playing politics and not attached to special interests? McCain?

  • Listen to Il experts and Obama:"If you are worried about your next election, the present vote gives you political cover," said Kent D. Redfield, a professor of political studies at the University of Illinois at Springfield... In the Audacity of Hope (page 130), Obama explained that even as a legislator in the minority, "You must vote yes or no on whatever bill comes up, with the knowledge that it's unlikely to be a compromise that either you or your supporters consider fair and or just."

  • Uh -- still stuck on the Present vote, huh? Is this really a major part of your ammunition against Obama.

(read sat feb 16 NYTIMES op-ed. Good analysis an Ill. expert.)

and you Don't care to comment on your post that compared Obama with Hitler, bin Laden, and arafat?

(And good job trying to hide behind your feeble attempt to Uncompare them right after you Compared them.

  • I actually like Obama. I think he has a big vision for the world. I just don't see that vision translating into results for the American people. His foreign policy says the President should invade Pakistan (allies) but talk to terrorist organizations without a defined agenda. His health care plan will financially burden small businesses and make the industry less competitive. And his character says vote "present" for political convenience. thats not change. That's selling bridges to fools.

  • uh . . . see your post for more misrepresentations and speculations.

    1) pakistan.

    2) talking to enemies

    3) health care

    4) character

And nice quote -- "bridges to fools." Apparently you have crowned yourself the arbiter of truth in politics and consider those who disagree with you "fools."

What do think Obama's vision for the world is?

  • This is an excerpt from an article written by Steve Holland on August 1, 2007: Obama said if elected in November 2008 he would be willing to attack inside Pakistan with or without approval from the Pakistani government, a move that would likely cause anxiety in the already troubled region. This is not speculation it is fact.

  • Health Care: Obama plan "mandates all employers contribute towards health coverage for their employees or towards the cost of the public plan" (Obama Health Care Plan page 3). "Employers that do not offer meaningful coverage or make a meaningful contribution to the cost of quality health coverage for their employees will be required to contribute a percentage of payroll toward the costs of the national plan." (Obama Health Care Plan page 4,5). Not speculation. FACT. No discussion of tax credits

  • Character: You know my issue here. It's the 129 or so "present" votes on constitutional issues. I need my president to show up when its time to defend my constitutional rights. To much blood has been spilled to get them. let me know when you need more facts.

  • If I see this one more time I will go crazy. Voting "present" is a strategy for a piece of legislation you don't oppose, but you want something changed. Like Barack said, why on earth does Hillary think he would refuse to vote on some bills that even HE initiated? Hillary knows the truth about this, she just keeps milking it for ignorant buffoons who won't research the truth themselves or who don't watch him answer this question in debates.

  • VicaPota lets focus on facts. Most of the bills Obama voted "present" on were passed which means they were not changed. In regards to Obama sponsored bills he was out maneuvered. He had good intentions but by the time it got to the floor the enforcement clauses were stripped out of it and his oponents were able to get concessions that weakened the states authority or were unconstitutional. For example, the sexual assault bill HB0854 which was a revision of SB0943. Obama lacks efficacy.

  • Arbiter of truth: One day when I grow up I want to be the Rush Limbaugh of democratic politics. LOL

  • atrucommedian: yeah . . . uh . . . really funny...

  • P.S. I didn't compare Obama to Hitler, Bin Laden, and Arafat. I simply said those guys inspired people. My history teacher said Hitler was successful in his message because people were hungry for change and that hungry people want answers. The American people are hungry after 7 years of Bush starvation. I don't think Obama has the answers. His 30,000 ft view of the world is better suited for UN Secretary General. In America we don't need changes we need adjustments to create perfect alignment.

  • Great video!!!! Cheers for standing up!! I'm a blue guy in a red state and people like you give me hope.

  • Another thing is, Hillary the intelligent, educated, traveled, wealthy woman stayed with a man who humiliated her before the entire world!

Oprah talked about women calling her betrayer for not backing Hillary. Oprah said pointedly that she was a "free" woman. Is Hillary really a "free" woman? If she would betray her own dignity, can she be loyal to the American people? Is she really a role model for the cause of feminism? Is she really a template for little girls?

  • Wow, great video!

You've summed up the cause of my visceral dislike for Hillary. She looks like a liar and it turns out she is. You are right, she lacks moral courage...and it is no coincidence she is persistent partner to Bill who is also dishonest. She will abandon her principles for expediency.

  • I don't see how you can argue that while Obama and Hillary's policy positions are substantially similar he will bring about fundamental change that she cannot. Let's hear his concrete proposals for ridding the political system of the pernicious influence of lobbyists and PACS. Let's hear his concrete proposals for legislation that will reform the corrupt legal system and most of all, let's hear his plan for ending the bitter partisanship that currently exists.

  • analogkdd,

you want something like a plan to make real, make concrete, obama's lofty-sounding goals. a plan won't do the trick, though, as his approach comes out of saul alinsky's community organizing theories, which obama practiced in chicago. if you check them out -- The New Republic published an informative piece about a year ago -- you'll gain some valuable insight; you'll begin to see the change he talks about is process-driven and tried and true.

  • Despite Larry's words, Bill Clinton was the best President I can remember in my 69+ year, beginning with Dwight Eisenhower. He would not let Newt Gingrich shut down the government when he would not agree to the Republican budgets. But four years later he agreed to a balanced budget and ran a surplus. The economy boomed during his administration. The U.S. was respected around the world and so was our President.

  • I'm 69 years old and like most seniors have lived through changes all my adult life. I've found that anyone can make a change but to do it right a person needs experience. Legislators can be dreamers, our conscience and soul. We need that. But to be the Administrator, a person requires depth, competence and experience. Hillary Clinton is an exceptional candidate.

  • I don't seem to agree with you. You thought Cheney and Rumsfeld had a lot of experiences, but they totally misled us. I think what's more important is if he or she has good judgement and do it right.

  • You must be confusing me with someone else. I consider Cheney and Rumsfeld to be evil men without an ounce of compassion in their souls. You're right about judgment though.

  • Haven't you checked Obama's positions outlined on his website? Have you seen some of his longer interviews, where he outlines specifics? If not, then why haven't you?
