  • I think I remember this from Teletoon in the 90s.

  • Man! I remember this show so well! It's been ages, but I still remember after all these years!

  • wow, watching this is like jumping into a time machine

  • Saturday Mornings 1991

  • fucking epic mind control

  • I loved this show as a kid!! It came on HBO in the mornings!!!

  • i fuken luv this schit

  • Boy...did that take me waaay back.

  • Very interesting looking back on my childhood and seeing a cartoon which was very pro environment just like captain planet. The message of this show was to utilize renewable energy as to not destroy the environment. I think the "young forever" represents innocence and also represents that lack of diseases the suntots suffered, such as premature aging that can result from our industrial north american lifestyles and including things such as obesity, cancer and diabetes.

  • The leftist brainwashing starts early.

  • @seanbateman2010 Looking back at it, it was pretty egregious.

  • dear god... FLASHBACK O__O

  • Thank you for uploading!!

  • lol i just heared this on Teletoon Retro and it got stuck in my head!!!

    Thnx 4 posting :)

  • for such a long time I thought I must've imaginged this show, I couldn't describe it to anyone and so no one could tell me if it existed or not. Now I'm a little mystified as to how I forgot this damn theme song...

  • For some reason that Lady in the red dress reminds me of Sarah Palin.

  • Used to watch this ob morning while eating porridge that's wat I remember lol

  • Memories!!

  • i heard captain planet opened up a can of whoop ass on the smoggies

then the americans invaded the island for its oil and used the troll people as pipe line cleaners

  • @aaron1182 thats true...ive heard that...what a tragedy lmao!!

  • @aaron1182 Don't forget about the Decepticons too, after all of earth's resources, LOL!!!

  • sooo remember this when i was5 yrs old, i was tormented by the stupid troll dolls ...i hated those things with there freaky eyes and wacked out hair and their mystery jewl in there belly button thing going on....eeek i liked the Smoggies though

  • Seeing that the tots looked a little like young hippies from the 60s.Perhaps the queen sun tot wore platform shoes that made her taller then the rest of them....rotfl

  • i watched this show as a child, now [9], I realized it was about not polluting and going green... what a great concept

  • Weird eco cartoon I guess..

  • I remember one episode had Polluto try to get Little to use some growth formula (Shampoo), in the hopes that he (She?) would smash the island... But numbskull tried it on himself to demonstrate tht there was no catch when Little was a bit leery of accepting something from the Smoggies..

  • @corjonbett and everyone went bald...?

  • @MortimerDarkness No. Polluto became a giant, and terrorized the island as "King Polluto", until he was tricked into falling into the ocean, washing the goop off, returning him to normal.

"The dumber they are, the harder they fall!"

  • Okay, I remembered TWO of them... Emma, not... Whatever I said...

  • Irony: They probably WOULD have given them the coral of everlasting youth... IF IT EXISTED!

  • I used to watch this!

The Smoggies, Polluto, miss Clairabell, and Clarence!

    Aboard the Stinkypoo!

  • I find it Hillarious That All of The Suntots Minus Their Princess Were Tiny... Even the Princess had a Good Inch on the Rest of them....

What did SHE Eat that the others didn't to Grow a Whole Extra Inch?...

  • i found this show sooo boring becuase of the boring villains.

but i use to like watching the Smoggie's village.

  • Amazing show about conservation and frivolous waste. I wish more children in the United States would have had an opportunity to watch this incredible show.

  • omg this theme song goes on...and on...and on...

  • I hated the smoggies I wanted them to always lose

  • The strange thing is, the 3 smoggies actually represent three things that cause pollution and the things in the show. Emma was pride and selfishness. Clarence was industral engineering and technology. Polluto was the more incccent of the 3 representations, his was navity, he didn't realise half the time he was doing wrong and actually did like things like animals. Polluto was my favourite because he DID care and was aware that he did wrong, he was just the last to acknolwedge it was wrong.

  • @AngelEmfrbl I thought this too. Clarence isn't actively evil a lot of the time, either - he represents the worst kind of technological development in that he's only interested in what he can do, not what he SHOULD. The fact that all his technology spews out oil and poison seems to be just a side-effect. But since he's in thrall to Emma's greed and selfishness, everything he makes is incredibly destructive. I thought it was a shame that Emma doesn't really seem to have a "good side", though.

  • This program has been sponsored by the Green Party of Canada.

  • This is a great theme tune for a cartoon show. I love it and especially the 'Beach Boys' inspired awaayyooo-oooo lol.

  • God...I use to watch this on Teletoon years ago. My favourite characters were The Smoggies

  • The program was re-titled "Stop The Smoggies". Incidently, Teletoon Retro in Cnada plans a 3 hour marathon of this on Sunday Apr. 17, 2011 from 1-3pm EDT. That generally means they're going to add it to their schedule sometime in the future. As for the theme, I preferred the closing theme-which was instrumental. Catchy without the environmental crap shoved down your throat.

  • @MrStereo10

    record it then.

can't get this here in the UK

  • I could never understand why this show was called The Smoggies instead of The Suntots.

  • This is one classic song written by Joe Raposo

  • you can bet we'll mess you up ecologically

How many English kids would actually understand what the word 'ecologically' means today - I teach in college (16-18 years old) and most of them would struggle with this sort of vocabulary.

  • I love love love the cute little people!!!

  • WHY IS THEIR A REALLY OLD SUNTOT IF THEY STAY YOUNG FOREVER?!

  • @SSJ4TOM Probably a Benjamin Button case for the old suntot.

  • @SSJ4TOM A very good question indeed! Maybe he doesn't have enough of the coral! lol

  • @SSJ4TOM They don't actually stay young forever. The lyrics were sort of sarcastic. They seem age very slowly but stay short nonetheless.

  • @SSJ4TOM Also won't Little like NEVER grow up if they stay young forever?

  • @SSJ4TOM he got on the band wagon too late lol

  • @SSJ4TOM mind blown !!

  • I remember as I child I watched this show and would always say to myself, "FUCKING ISLAND MIDGETS! FUCKING SHARE YOUR CORAL OF ETERNAL YOUTH SO THE FUCKING SMOGGIES WOULD LEAVE"! Little fuckers could of just did that it would of saved everyone a fuck of lot of trouble and campy songs god damn.

  • couldnt remember the name of this used to watch it when i was little looked up potsworth and co another one i couldnt remember and found this

  • The Suntots' message would be much easier to take if they weren't such smug bastards about it. Jesus, I know recycling is awesome, okay?

  • It's ironic that despite the Smoggies' claim to like mess and dirt, they themselves seem to observe a reasonable standard of personal hygiene. Even the big dopey looking one and the canary perched on his head.

  • Oh God! I remember this on teletoon!

  • Totally, that's cos in cartoons it's mostly the bad guys that have the most thought and effort put into the character design. The good guys are always simple and cheesy designs.

  • I'm beginning to work out why I'm so fucked in the head, some of the cartoons I watched when I was a kid were totally retarded. The fuckin' Smoggies is got to've been made by some mad hippie cunts trippin major on some micro-dots.

  • @andybytheway

The funny thing is as a kid I thought the smoggies were the good guys regardless of the "hippie message".

  • Am I the only one that liked the Smoggies?

  • OH MY soooooooooooooooooooo many memories awwww

  • this makes me all tingly inside...jejejejeje

  • This is basically Avatar but way better!!

  • @somethinglacking1 Avatar is more like the old movie "Fern Gully"

  • I bet if the Smoggies were nicer to them, the Suntots would've just shared the secrets of the Magic Coral and immortality with them.

  • @Kelli69: There was no Magic Coral. The Suntots stayed young and healthy through not polluting. But the Smoggies didn't want to believe this, and thought there must be a magic secret that the Suntots were keeping from them.

  • Emma and Clarence were fucking dicks looking back at this show now. They treated Polluto like shit.

  • Gorillaz music video for "melanchony lane" reminded me of smoggies

  • Ucugg

  • this is great I have told many ppl about this cartoon and nobody believed me! I am so happy this mad me so happy plus now theres proof...

  • omfg im well chuffed ive been trying to remember what this wall called for years !!!!!!!!

  • Dude I want to know how the hell do those suntots have different color afros.

  • When I watched this video, I was like, ARE THEY TRYING TO TELL KIDS TO POLLUTE THE OCEAN!?

  • I so remember watching this as a kid...a trip down memory lane thats for sure :)

  • I still think those suntots are not Earth creatures.

What else explains their everlasting youth?

  • Holy shit I just got transported 20 years back in time

  • lol I had this theme song stuck in my head earlier, had to search youtube for this lol

  • 0:12 Look at the fat bitch run!

  • hahahaahahaha fuck i havent seen this show forever. Damn I remembered some of the words too as i heard it.

  • LOL Had to listen to this again

  • A-M-A-Z-I-N-G FACK YA!

  • Ahead of its time i think. Watch it again

  • I have been racking my brain trying to remember this cartoon from my youth. So satisfied that I finally found it, brings back great memories..,

  • loved this when i was little.

  • Can´t believe it. I watched it a few times but forgot the name and no I have found it again

  • I honestly had never heard about this show until now, but I'll be damned if that isn't one of the catchiest tv theme songs I've ever heard.

  • @PolarisPes1 Tell me about it!! I love it!

  • @PolarisPes1

I remember it vaguely as a kid. But then I grew up in Canada where we had a bunch of weird shows America didn't see much off. Just like the US got a bunch of cartoons that I have never seen as a kid.

  • OMFG! I completely forgot about this show!

  • If it wasn't for the internet I would legit think I hallucinated this show as a young child. NO ONE remembers it, lol.

  • This show was really gay.

  • ahh what memories

  • Me and my brother used to find it hilarious that the Smoggies' ship was called the Stinky Poo!

  • You guys should all sing this as you walk around.... youd be surprised how many people fill in the lyrics

  • I remember I watched this cartoon as a child and vaguely remembered the theme song.

  • Oh. Dear. God.

I remember this. I watched this. This was like part of my childhood right here.

  • I watched this cartoon as a kid but I didn't realize how long the intro was!

  • oh I hated the Smoggies! Worst cartoon ever, it was one of those shows they would air over and over again until your brain was permanently damaged. Why not air a GOOD cartoon instead but no lets air this piece of shat! Thank God it's finally off the air.

  • @guardiane i wouldn't say it's the worst, there's been far worse cartoons........spongebob comes to mind, someone must have been on something to think up that crap.

  • frigging hell i forgot this existed

  • Forgive the Smoggies, for they know not what they do...

  • Fue una hermosa serie que veia en el año 1990 en Lanzarote la echo mucho de menos la verdad gracias por subirla

  • "A messy mess, or a shiny clear"

Someone at BP should have watched this show.

  • @RichGilly Does that mean those that haven't made a spill DID watch it?

  • It's probably kinda sad I've noticed this, but watching another version of the song, at the end is different! During "We're the Suntots and the Smoggies" bit at the end, in this video they're all doing the Palms up thing which is what I remember, in the other one they're not. Ok, I'm gonna go get a life now x)

  • I used to sing along with this cartoon all the time when I was little and i still do

  • Holy shit... looked this up just for the memories...

  • I loved showing this clip to my American friend, only to hear her "wtf?" I watched some pretty strange cartoons when I was a kid xD.

  • OMG!!!! get a bloody life u stupid fools talking about friendly fire and all things war. This aint the place to talk about that political shite. we're here to remember our times of being a kid and having fun. If u wanna talk bout war then go somewhere else!!!!

  • I have been looking for anything smoggie related for years! THANK YOU to whoever posted this, made my whole frikin year

  • My God ive not seen this since probably the late 80s/early 90s, fucking brilliant.

  • ... seriously.. a debate about friendly fire... on THIS VIDEO!?...

Thanks for the vid, only had vague memories of this being on tv at some ridiculous hour on channel 4 i think.

  • Fuck me, the length of that intro. If that was Network 2, they'd have taken three breaks already.

  • omg i couldnt think of the name of this me and friends were tryign to figure it out and it was so easy to find ..

  • This is not only stupid but also depressing.

  • @JTHMBirdGuy777 for sure!

  • Is it just me, or does anyone else think this song would be a perfect accompaniment while showing footage of the B.P. pipeline spewing crude into the Gulf of Mexico? It's going to be a toxic wasteland if they really take the additional 4-6 months they're anticipating to cap that leak. =(

  • @MichoRizzo44 B.P. British Payback for all those "friendly fire" incidents.

  • @lowmoralfibres I assume you mean the "friendly fire" incidents during the wars in Iraq and in Afghanistan, right? I refuse to believe our friends, the British, would so vindictive and cold blooded. the Crown, as all nations should, expect some of the forces they send into battle to not return (casualties of war). That's no reason to ruin "ecologically"<--- (reference to the Smoggies) the Gulf Coast. Ah maybe I'm just naive. =P

  • Comment removed

  • @MichoRizzo44 I see your point but can't help wondering how americans would feel if it had been British "Friendly fire" upon US troops instead?. =p

  • Ah, the Canadian Equivalent of Captain Planet. Nostalgia Critic, please review this thing, because wow...

on a different note I remember liking that Red-Headed princess suntot. Could've been because I was just a little girl but wtv. /shrug.

  • when ever i see this intro, Super Mario Sunshine comes to mind oddly

  • Instead of creating air pollution it is apparent they prefer to use animal slavery and labour to propel their water vehicles. Also it is a contradition to basic facts we know today when the "Suntots" mention "We use the WATER, wind and sun to make our homes and gadgets run...." that would suggest they use hydro-electric dams which are generally considered to even worse environmentally than what the "Smoggies" use and even at time an "econological disaster."

  • OMG!!! I remember this. Watching it in my grandparents kitchen being told of...lol!!!! I loved this when it was on...been trying to remember wot it was called. Thankyou for putting this on, its brighten my night up and made me smile remembering being 7 again. Thanks.

  • haha omg i can sooooo remember watching this on 'the childrens channel' back in early 1990s on anologue cable lol

  • Cinar use to be the best for cartoons I miss the old days T^T

and I still think this song pawns because it can rhyme Ecologicaly

  • @Warlockfoxfire Lol, agreed!! =)

  • I and now I know why I love the Youtube Recommendations. I've been trying for years on search engines trying to remember the name of this cartoon but I got nothing. Then on Youtube, there it was. SMOGGIES!!! XD

  • holee shit MEMORIESSSSSSS

  • How I loved cartoons that preached morals. One day I think I'll make a cartoon about a dim-witted leader of a powerful country who has a group of sly, scheming sidekicks who decides to send an Army into a desert where funny darked-skinned people with towels on their heads (and weird religious beliefs) live because under the ground there is all the thick black stuff that the people in the President's country crave.

  • @graemeoliver84 Great idea! Too bad it's not a cartoon. Any ideas for a title?

  • Comment removed

  • omg i havent heard this song in years lol

  • omg i havent heard this song in years lol

  • love it!!!

  • omg this is disturbing and what planet is that with all those weird continents!?

  • Christ, I had no idea they were pushing environmentalism so much when I was a kid. I was... simple.

  • Honestly, I dont think Christ has anything to do with this cartoon show.

  • I can't believe I'm watching this because the show really creeped me out when I was little. I still remember whne Teletoon was first introduced to cable and this show was on it along with Teddy Ruxpin and lots of other shows that soon became favorites.

  • I loved this show and so did my sister, we loved the suntotsxxx

  • I used to love this as a child, can't find it on disc though. Great for kids. Thanks for putting it on you tube!

  • I saw this show on DVD when I was at Superstore but it was in french so too bad.

  • Holy shit- it's all coming back to me now, i vaguely remember something to do with a periscope and some....sun rays? Jesus I feel so old......

  • lmaoooo

  • i felt the smoggies got the shit end of the stick even thou they are jerks to begin with

  • Apparently i used to watch this show when i was really young but i don't remember it. some of the characters look vaguely familiar though...

  • fucking suntots

  • @pussywran No need to swear, there could be kids watching this. Well, maybe if their parents told them about this.

  • i loved this show as a kid

  • Holy shit... insane childhood flashbacks

  • I knew i wasnt dreaming it dose excits cant belived i watched this

  • The Smoggies' ship was called "The Stinky Poo", when I was 6 that was the funniest thing I had ever heard.

  • I wonder if the Suntots are Mystical creatures from another world.

    That's why they never age.

  • avatar is the smoggies in space

  • Now that Im an adult I totally understand my feelings for the red haired one. I wanted to nail her.

  • Never noticed how the song's style reeks of Beach Boys tones.

  • @keyser001 Oo wee oo oo!

  • wow I remember this

  • i prefer lola&virginia in english

  • RRATS! I HATE THE SMOOGIES@! its no funny its to boriiiing

  • Does anyone here know all these opening lyrics to the 1988 cartoon series "The Smoggies"??

  • Nope, I have long forgotten the lyrics to the theme song, but the chorus of "suntots, suntots everywhere (ooh-wee-ooh-ooh)" randomly pops into my head and wedges itself there on a loop for hours. Rather annoying. :)

  • love how the theme song is longer than the cartoon its self!!! somtimes when im cleaning my house i get it stuck in my head......like to keep things messy.....just as dirty as can be!!

  • @shannairl I could never make out all lyrics, partly because they're a bit muffled and partly because I was only about 5 or 6 when I watched this and at that age was terrible at understanding song lyrics, I thought it was "Suntots, Suntots, Earth and weerrr". I too haven't quite forgotten this theme tune, you have to admit it's fairly catchy or is that just the nostaglia kicking in?

  • A middle aged man with an anorexic wife and a retarded 30something year old son. They live on a Ocean Liner and battle the midget hippies for Global Warming.

  • @BigDumbJerk Totally pisses on "Spongebob Square Pants", doesn't it?

  • @BigDumbJerk

    HAHAHAAHAH XD

  • @BigDumbJerk

    Better then Captain Planet.

  • Los Contamimalos!!

  • You can bet we'll mess you up...ecologically!

  • remember watching it here in UK a lot

  • i miss this show! :(

  • I liked this show when i was little. Prolly wouldnt now
