With the Sherwin Williams' paint system you can sand the surface that is to be painted to a certain grit and start painting without having to apply a primer-sealer. I've never done it that way because you can get better coverage faster with color sealer. He also should have done a better job at getting rid of the shiny spots. For collision work this system works fine, but for a show winning finish I'd at least go with their Planet Color line.

thats wrong.. color means nothing. it is however recommended to use a sealer primer before painting to have a solid color primer to lay your paint on so the paint won't look like hell from different primer surfaces.. this guy didn't do so.

sherwin tank. thats the best that paint will ever look unfortunatlly.will turn to semi gloss in a couple days and fall off in six months. get quality paint like basf,dupont,or ppg. nice spray job though.

Never sanded the hood very good! look at all the shiney spots. An invitation for paint not sticking well. Good Paint materials are too expensive to waste over poor sanding.

Hi Tropicj, We were hammered in vocational school autobody shop, that time spent sanding well is a must. If there is high glossy spots showing, there is nothing there for the paint to bite to. Many guys go way to fast on prep, which is the difference of a good paint job or a bad one.

Great Job, I just started to paint it is really fun. Just a tip that if you are going to paint more often, you should get a Supplied Air Respirators. You should also where protective gloves and suit.

I actually went through with it, took every piece I could off the car and sprayed them invivually, the rest of the car was quite easy, I screwed up at the beginning so I re sanded and primered, 2nd shot turned out great
