Some Politicians tried to end the corn subsidizes but powerful lobbies from corn farmers and food processors blocked their efforts.

I think America's obesity problem is the result of excess leisure time that has been afforded to them because of a capitalist society plus they have the freedom to chose and indulge. You don't see fat people in communist countries.

Until they start to make fast food less available and more healthy foods cheaper and more available people are going to have this obesity problem. If you travel to Cuba for instance where they have no additives and the food is natural by and large you will see very few if any fat people. They cannot import that stuff because of the imbargo. My hubby ate so much there and in 2 weeks he lost 10pounds. They cook the way my gramma used to. Even the ice cream is natural there.
