DONT DRINK RAW EGGS!... Not because of salmonella..But because it hurts your health...It contains a hazardous proteine that turns biotin off in your body...
Other than that 55% OF RAW EGG PROTEIN IS INDIGESTIBLE, while cooked egg's proteine is 91% digestible.
You have totally no reason to drink that raw crap...
@mim123456789 Finally a mature person, who doesnt just rant out...
Raw egg-white is found to be a decidedly indigestible substance. It may cause diarrhea in dogs, rats, rabbits and men when ingested in any large quantity. Its utilization by the body is poor since it is used only to the extent of from 50 to 70 per cent. Subjects can acquire a certain tolerance for the native protein after ingesting it for several days so that it no longer causes diarrhea and is somewhat better utilized.
the 50-70% numbers are described in the results... extended consumption does improve the utility rate, normallyy it is 50-60% digestible for an average joe,who just started to eat it in th last few weeks. The worst thing about it is avidin ,wich is easy to get rid of but most people dont even care about it...
The FDA recommends this precaution to everyone, including the very young to the elderly and people with weakened immune system, who are highly susceptible. Even with the statistic you stated, you are still at risk. Experiencing the symptoms of salmonella is not pleasant.
There have been many food recalls lately. As long as businesses can get away with it, they will continue to take shortcuts to increase their bottom line, profits.
I made this LUSCIOUS smoothie yesterday with one raw cage-free egg, a can of coconut milk, mixed frozen berries and plain kefir which I sweetened with stevia. IT was GOOD! This sort of healthy drink beats the crap out of a DQ Blizzard!
As a rule of thumb, never eat raw eggs that have been sitting out, either outside of your fridge.... or if they've been sitting out on the supermarket's floor (literally); outside of the refrigerated alcove or refrigerated shelve. Always keep 'em in the fridge until you're absolutely set on eating them right at that second. Statistics are meaningless unless you're the unlucky 1 out of 20,000th person. I should know.
@rkmugen ...in other words, one can ignore statistics and eat all the raw eggs he or she desires. But it is only when the person gets sick will they start to wish that he or she didn't just become that remote statistic (because they got sick).
I gotta try that recipe for whole milk mixed with raw eggs and maple syrup! I am a diehard raw food lover. I love raw milk, raw oysters and raw eggs. I get raw milk from Eastleigh Farm in my town; its rich, creamy top is SO good! I also LOVE cookie dough. All through this month I have been drinking this eggnog that I make using raw organic eggs, coconut milk, agave syrup, cinnamon and nutmeg. It's heaven in a cup!
I am so happy to have come across this video! Being someone who consumes raw eggs regularly, I am experiencing much relief knowing the likelihood of eating an infected egg is so small. UndeadKangaroo, do you happen to know the chances of eating an infected human egg? Does it matter if the egg has been fertilized? Does the time of discharge from the ovarian follicle play a role? Thx.
@booty121212 When the egg I'm eating hasn't been fertilized, I combine it with garlic and ice to make a shake. When the egg I'm eating HAS been fertilized, I crack it on top of pineapple.
You want to know who lied to you? The FDA. The government. The USDA. They are all an unbelievable joke when it comes to telling us what's safe or not safe to put into our bodies.
We should all be eating only raw foods, as we're evolved to thrive on. Unfortunately the money doesn't go this way... so we're told to eat 6+ servings of bread/pasta a day to be in good health.... haaahahahaha.......
@ILikeGirlsWthBigEyes, actually, the evidence, which can also be born out by practical personal experience, for the vast majority of people, is that the Homo species, particularly since H. erectus, and particularly H. sapiens, and also H. neanderthalensis, is that we have evolved with the use of fire, particularly with fire used for cooking our food, which has resulted in a continual slenderizing of the human skeleton/jaw/teeth with each subsequent species evolution. Look into it, and related..
@ToolsnFire I have read many books on it and the evidence doesn't show that at all. You're probably listening to Richard Wrangham who is widely regarded as a populist kook in the academic community. Maybe has been slight evolution in us towards being tolerant for cooked foods, we are still 99.9% evolved for raw ones.
It is also borne out in my personal experience: the more raw food I eat, the thinner I get and the more energy I have long-term. I don't believe anyone can be any different.
@ILikeGirlsWthBigEyes, where/what is your basis about that humans are anywhere near 99.9% evolved for raw foods as a Genus/species. Perfect example of ludicrousness. The use of fire(or it's equivalent in modern times) has been and continues to be extremely intertwined in the evolution of Homo species, and throughout practically all cultures. We are a cooking animal, and we became who we are as a species through cooking. It's all too clear. Challenge: go live in the wild without fire.
@ToolsnFire I'm not completely raw yet, but I'm getting there. Processed foods are extremely addictive and are a curse to humanity. The vast majority of diseases or nasty conditions there are today are caused by processed or cooked foods. I'm not going to get into a debate with you about it, just letting people know the truth.
@ILikeGirlsWthBigEyes “If people let government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny.” - Thomas Jefferson
Go on idiot, eat raw eggs raw meat, raw fish...etc...I wonder what your stomach will aswer to that....I bet you wouldnt last 2 weeks before getting some infection:) (ofc not from egg but from any meat...Egg hurts you slowly but surely)
@Matthhewx You really have no idea what your talking about do you? Ever heard of sushi? and many people eat raw meat. Some of the healthiest people around only eat raw food. When cooking food you loosen 40% of it nutrition. Raw eggs although have there pros and cons. But once in the while theres no harm in them.
@Matthhewx ......I thought cooking destroyed most of the nutritional benefits contained in eggs? What then is the best way to prepare eggs for maximum nutrition?
It depends on what your goal is..Most people who eat large amounts of eggs eat in hope of consuming extra protein..And if your goal is the same, then eat them cooked, because in denatured form your body can digest all the protein...
About vitamins..That's a tricky part...some say "zomg vitamins are destroyed"..Not many of them are harmed by heat, and those wich are only exist in a mediocre amount in eggs...Also you dont need to worry about avidin->vitamin b types are utilized better!
@Matthhewx ......thanks. Maybe soft boiled is the best way then. My goal is to find a healthy diet where most of the nutrition comes from food, not supplements. No extremes, just a good longevity diet....
@Andreas748 I usually boil them for like 4 mins...all the eggwhite gets denaturated and the yolk is not that extremely dry...It's nutritious and tastes great too! just make ssure you check your cholesterol levls after a few week of consuming high amounts of eggs...Healthy people shouldnt expeience any problems but in some cases it can be a problem...If you want a good longevity diet, then you should also suppress your carbohidrate intakes to like 1g/kg of bodyweight or even less.Good luck!
I believe raw eggs are mostly alright to eat. For instance, in Japan, one of the most popular breakfast dishes is something called "Tamago kake gohan". This consists of cooking rice, and then mixing it with a raw egg. In spite of the fact that millions of japanese citizens consume this dish on a regular basis, it remains one of the healthiest nations in the world.
Just be aware that the egg white in raw eggs greatly depletes BIOTIN (an essential B vitamin). So supplementing with BIOTIN is a must. I eat most of my eggs raw. Eggs are loaded with protein and essential minerals...now if I could only find a good source for unpasteurized milk!!! Organic Valley sells unpasteurized cheeses (thank God). Pasteurization (high heat) damages (alters) proteins and essential fatty acids.
What I do on occasion if my body has a hankering for it, I put whole milk in a glass, mix a little bit of maple syrup for a bit of sweetening, then plop in two or three quality raw eggs(quality free range ideally) unmixed, then drink it all down. Very satisfying. Hit's the spot.
ive eaten over 1000 raw eggs, theyre great. i have a video of eating 12, check it out. you've got it right, they arent dangerous. ill warn you about the 'free range organics' that some ppl say you should eat bc they sound healthier - ive eaten them, they killed my stomach - now i eat the most processed, standardized white eggs i can get. enjoy them, saves tons of time and dishes.
Good video :) I eat 6 a day and have for years.. never any problems. BUT I have benefited from the highly digestable and very high quality protein and essential fatty acids. Just go Free range organic if you can!
Raw eggs are not dangerous. I drink 4-5 raw eggs a day, and have never gotten sick. They give your more energy, and give you a stronger immune system.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I really don't understand all that noise about raw eggs, here in Italy is a normal dish, we eat them "all'ostrica" with pepper salt and olive oil, that's much more safer than eating your crappy-cancerous-fattening-hamburgers
look at some japanese food recipes or some youtube videos on japanese food. They eat raw egg yolks (being the supposed most "dangerous" part of the egg) or entire raw eggs with certain dishes.
Eggs from large factories have been pasteurized and are safe, but "country" or "farm" eggs that are not pasteurized are not as safe. It is good to have people believe it is bad as more choose to buy organic type eggs from stores. I raise my own chickens for the eggs.
This has been flagged as spam show
I heard it was one in 33 thousand eggs. I eat them all the time, I am still alive. I eat raw garlic.
I also eat boiled eggs too. It is also free range and organic though.

Of the individual proteins constituting egg-white, the albumin fraction appears to be the indigestible component.
"The whites of the hen's egg and duck's egg act alike in causing diarrhea and in being poorly utilized.
Egg-yolk either raw or cooked is excellently utilized. It sometimes causes digestive disturbances in dogs, apparently because of its high fat content.

Protein is necessary for the building and repair of body tissues.
It produces enzymes, hormones, and other substances the body uses.
It regulates body processes, such as water balancing, transporting nutrients, and making muscles contract.
Protein keeps the body healthy by resisting diseases that are common to malnourished people.
Prevents one from becoming easily fatigued by producing stamina and energy.

Raw eggs are not dangerous. I drink 4-5 raw eggs a day, and have never gotten sick. They give your more energy, and give you a stronger immune system.

I cook my eggs

Ha! I just realized it would be entertaining to find a climate skeptic who avoids eating raw eggs because they're dangerous! :-)

Personally, I think the yumminess of cookie dough is worth the risk. Go for column A--cookie dough!

Eggs from large factories have been pasteurized and are safe, but "country" or "farm" eggs that are not pasteurized are not as safe. It is good to have people believe it is bad as more choose to buy organic type eggs from stores. I raise my own chickens for the eggs.
