  • I read Demons Don't Dream, and learned about the video game based on it in the author's note at the end of the book.

I could see how this could have been a fun game, but it seems to be more of a somewhat interactive retelling of the book, which is extremely unfortunate.

It could have actually allowed you to pick a companion and allowed you to solve the puzzles, but whoever was hired to develop this game obviously took the easy development route.

  • @PeterAnimator There's plenty of puzzle solving in the game. I'm not sure why they had this opening scene where you can choose your character, but I'm guessing one reason was to strengthen the idea that you are playing a game-within-a-game. Nada's character is pretty crucial to the plot of the story, and being allowed to choose between all 4 would have meant a lot more work and a much bigger game, with probably not a lot of reward.

  • I love the way the game is called, "Companions of Xanth" and they give you choices but they make you pick who they want you to have. This was one of my first computer games as a child and introduced me to the book series. Thanks for playing it!
