I asked her a question about an item they had and she was looking at me up and down. The look was "You can't afford what you are asking about."
This is like the staff at Neiman-Marcus. They have an inferiority complex that they are low hourly paid but project like they own the store with their high noses.
What if she was a student at nearby UCLA doing a project on social class discrimination and differences in modern society, dressed up in this casual outfit which isn't even that bad by the way, and going into a boutique in Rodeo just to see how she'll be treated. She later shows up in a much more elegant classy dress and they are nice to her. These bitches should have let her shop; she had money their store needed! They worked on commission!!
This clip reminds my of my visit to Channel on 5th Ave. in New York. The security guard told me he had to keep an eye on "people like me". Little did they know that I went down the street to Coach and got what I needed to get there. Snoody People.
Why are people in these boutiques so utterly stupid? I've gone into stores like this with thousands to spend, BECAUSE I need clothes, so I might be dressed down, but that's why I'm there. Do they think they are psychic? How the hell do they know if you've got money or not. Everyone who walks in the door should be treated the same, it's called good business and it applies to fashion just as much.
How it old is this movie? If it was now , Julia would punched those bitches in the face. I like the part when she comes back and tells them they work on commission.
