  • great sound

  • Can you email me the wiring diagram for this? I would like to build one.

  • i wonder if you continued on this project? put everything in a proper chassis / enclosure, added a magic eye and a tuning scala?

  • @rockangel1967 I am going to try and improve this radio but want to keep it just the same...I do have some more junk tube radio chassis that I would like to build another homemade radio though.

  • @retrochad hi chad. cool. i can't wait to see your next project. was on your website. nice one. i want to build a FM tube radio with a magic eye. thats why i asked... i have a EM84 here

  • Very good..

  • the problem is id rather make a modern day radio fom scratch with every single component rather than this because you just connected some wires together and it works... i have to solder a lot of things and thn it works

  • Can't help but repeat "wow!". A classic "junk parts box" radio. That's some decent design skill, there :)

  • It`s amazing how valvuled radios produces very high quality sond ! I wish i could build one as a hobby , but valves are quite rare here in Brazil .

  • O.O WOW

  • wow chad! thats a really nice radio, it seems to have good sensitivity and very good sound quality

  • how do you calculate the coil for fm frequentie's?

  • nice FMs sound !!!

  • gigady

  • So amazing, wonderful work, being FM radio using tube is good. Is there anyway to get schematic drawing?

  • Nice project! Bravo.

  • Awesome video. Keep on with that good work!

One day youll be a millionaire radio expert!

  • does it give you stereo sound?

  • mmmm K?

  • lul @ voice

  • That's so amazing that you can build that stuff. You're an artist!

  • ive been looking for a am fm lw mw sw and marine band radio with tubes caint find one guess im just gonna have to make it like this one

  • Tell us the schematic. :-)

  • This is very cool! I've been searching around for AM, FM and short wave plans that use tube electronics. :)

  • put a bar tuner on it and you are good to go!

  • When you were a kid were you as fascinated by the electronics books by Alfred P. Morgan, as I was?

  • I'm impressed, well done! There's something to be said for old valves etc. Good quality stuff that lasts. Not like the crap thats produced nowadays.

  • what kind of detector it uses

  • Ohhh and the best part was when you first turned it one and first thing out was rap music. I just found it funny coming out of a tube radio

  • You sound just like a fella I talk to on my local 2 meter repeater in the Cincinnati area. Cheers on the homebrew receiver!

  • what a quality. really nice

  • go tubes!

  • I like the way you built it using parts from other electronics. And sounds very good. Five stars.

  • Thanks!

  • is there anyway I could get the schematic for this from you? I'd like to build something like this for a design project for my EET class

  • WOW! That is so neat! Neat job and goood sound quality! The commercial at the end I rrecognize hearing before! And, what type of camera do you use? The picture looks interesting on your videos with its love for yellow.

  • The camera I'm sure is not the greatest! It's an RCA VHS w/color viewfinder I got at Goodwill. I don't think the white balance is compensating well for indoor lighting. Sometime I'd like to get a better, more modern camera.

  • Sounds great!

  • great job. could you show the underside and post the schematic diagram?

  • hahaha I liked that snoop dogg song in the beginning at 1:26, that was cool please play more rap stations like the one that was on when the radio started to play

  • Awesome.

  • It sounds great! The ratio detector circuit has a good capture. The quality of the audio is wonderful. Really nice job!

  • that one badass radio their!

  • Nice desing

  • Marvelous! What a great way to make use of old parts.

  • Sounding good! You have alot of country stations in your area lol. I like that Zenith TV in the background. is that a black and white?

  • Thanks for your comments! Yes we do have a lot of country stations...2 FM and 3 AM.

The TV in the background is a 1979 23V" delta gun Zenith Chromacolor II with space command. I was using it earlier to listen to some music from the DirectTV XM channels so that's why there's just a blank raster.
