Say what you like, but on the question of the performance of this song, Matthew does the better job at it. Look at Adam.. He didn't move an inch from his micstand the whole song.. With Matthew I could've understand that, as he has his guitareffect panel to think of, and as he's also playing guitar he can't hold a mic with his hands, but this guy has all the freedom he needs and doesn't take advantage of that. It makes for a poor performance... Takes the energy out of this song really..

That was absolutely unreal. I think Adam is amazing and the song fits his voice perfectly. I am electrified. I never heard this song before Adams performance the summer of 09 and I feel in love with the song and Adam:s vocal presentation of the Muse song. So I think I like it better than Muse version. Some may disagree but like I said Adam was to me the first to sing it and I was in Awe.

I love Muse, they're my favourite band right now and have been for awhile. I especially love their older weird stuff, and Matt's voice makes it amazing... I see no reason to like Adam less for this, he did it amazingly! I love both of them.

I felt like the arrangement was a rip-off of te original, but he did bring new things to the song's vocals. Overall, he did an alright job with it. If he did this on American Idol, to br honest, I probably would've voted for him.

ok i'm a mise fan yes. i'm also an adam lambert fan by the fact that the guy has an awesome voice. His version of mad world was spectacular. Me too! I didn't really pay much attention to muse until Adam started talking about them. Now I love them! I love Adam's cover of this song. Adam and Matt should sing a duet!
The instrumentals definitely lack the fullness of MUSE, but i guess Adam's more focused on vocals than anything else. Personally, I didn't like this cover, but I absolutely loved his cover of 'Soaked' on his new album (which was written by Matthew Bellamy, of Muse!)

I loved this tour. It was truly a wonderful moment in time to get to see Adam perform in concert so many nights per week. Hopefully he will go back on tour with his album soon.
I am real tired of hearing the Muse fans opinions. Go praise Muse and quit dissing Adam. I had never heard of Muse before Adam sang this and I purchased a Muse CD based on Adam's recommendation. Idk. He just breathes so much more life into it. Adam dwelves& realy digs deep into the highs and lows more than Bellamy more thus creating a more emotional presence.
@bremp3 Hmm, I can see how you'd like this version more if that's what you dig about the song, but I actually prefer it with the vocals toned down. This is definitely just a personal opinion, but I think for me there's too much life breathed into it here. I much prefer Bellamy's vocals, they seem to flow better with the music.
He has an incredible talent but he needs to tone it down once in a while... The original feels way more under control than Adam's cover. Same can be said by his rendition of Soaked (Even though it is good). Anyone who thinks this is better than the original is obviously just an Adam fan sad to say. This is just a bit too high in pitch throughout.
And remember , Adam did not record this in a studio like Muse...the best video of this was removed already on utube....if he had recorded in a studio with all the perfection...he would easily swayed your decision....Go Adam.

I would have much rather heard Adam sing Time is Running Out by Muse... there's some extremely high notes and I think he could do them well! This doesn't show off his range too well. Still good though of course.
If Adam isn't in the same league why on earth would Matt Bellamy have given Adam the song Soaked for his new album??? I LOVE Muse!!! Have for years and I also love this version of the song. Yes, it's a lot higher than the original, but I respect that fact that Adam didn't just re-sing the original. Adam can sing pretty much anything because I think he has a crazy 4 octave range, so he could have just sang it exactly the same way Matt does...but instead, he chose to 'make it his own' and sing in his higher register. Nothing wrong with that, it's a good cover.

I had never heard this song before until I heard Adam sing it when I went to the American Idol concert in Tacoma. I thought it was beautiful. So, Adam has introduced me to another artist or group that I like. First, it was Mad World and now it's Muse's Starlight.

I agree. This is just terrible. I know people are saying that he is paying tribute to a good band or whatever, but let's be honest, If you can't properly cover the song of a band you respect, you probably shouldn't sing it to public.
Love Muse and happen to love this version too. Adam's voice is very ethereal and a good take on the song. No one is trying to replicate Muse - it is a cover. Adam is not recording any covers on his album which comes out in November.
Being a big Muse fan myself I don't get why you think it is Adam vs Muse. Adam recorded 28 songs and chose 12 or so for an his album of those he wrote 4. For a first album I think it is about normal. On the other hand Bellamy and Adam are about the only two falsetto singers out there and it also stands to reason they would respect each other. Why would you judge Adam before his album is even released. You might like it!!
Not so much... Both Bellamy and Adam can sing falsetto with clear and near perfect pitch. Adam has a full 4 octave range which is just highly unusual. There are definately a ton of people sing falsetto and a ton more who try. But very few who truly do it well.
josephXbliss, There was nothing self-contradictory in what xentafly wrote. 4 songs are written by Adam alone, most were co-written by him, and a couple given to him have never been released & will not be considered covers since Adam's versions will be considered the definitive ones. 4 solo works are not pitiful since Frank Sinatra only co-wrote 7 in his whole career & Elvis only did covers in his first year as a recording artist. I wonder what your real problem with Adam is.
When I saw Adam live, I was absolutely amazed by how great his voice really is. I was a huge fan throughout the whole show, and went almost purely to the concert for Adam, but I was almost completely taken aback by his voice when I actually heard it live.
This was my favorite song by him, I actually started crying when he sang it, because I thought it was so beautiful. I love the end of this song. It's absolutely amazing. I can't wait for his cd and next tour and everything else he does.

It's a good effort sung a little too high, but I'm not knocking it, you have to have some reasonable level of talent to do it this well. I've seen Muse do this live 4 times - I respect Adam's fans who think this is brilliant, but if they saw Muse live ..... go see them when they are next in the USA - "best live band in the world". Full credit to Adam for taking it on & bringing Muse and Matt Bellamy to a wider audience, I can't see how any Muse fan could really disapprove of this performance.
I love Muse but I don't mind Adam covering one of their songs. It'll never be like the original because Matt has his own unique style but the best cover I think I've ever heard is Adams version of Ring Of Fire. His style shines through on that cover but it doesn't shine through on Starlight.....it's good though!
Well I've been a Muse fan since the days of Showbiz but you know whether you like it or not, other artists are going to cover Muse and I don't see the problem with that. I'm happy to say that as a long standing fan I don't begrudge someone complimenting Matt by choosing to cover one of his songs. I think Matt would be insulted by his own fans who couldn't cope with it
I like Adam's version just fine. I love Muse and I love Adam. Love Muse's new CD! Can't wait till Adam's comes out Nov 24th!! Since Muse let Adam sing this song, they are good with it too (gave him their permission) Life is good :-)

It's certainly not the worst cover of a song I've ever heard, but that doesn't make it good.

This is far from an insult to Muse. I'm a huge Muse fan, spanning over half my life. I've seen them live 7 times and would totally go gay with all 3 of them :p
Not seen much of Adam, but he's good and obviously showing a great taste in music.
When live, i've seen Matt give a worse performance than this, but also alot better (MTV EMA's).
He did the song justice.
If you want to see an insult to Muse, try find The Streets supporting Muse at Wembley, covering a song.

ok i'm a mise fan yes. i'm also an adam lambert fan by the fact that the guy has an awesome voice. His version of mad world was spectacular. I do however believe he took an awesome muse song and ruined it. he can't hit the high notes... but the only reason he can't is cos he took an already really really high song up even higher. there was no need for it.... if he had of kept it at its orginal really high key he would have made a much better job of this...

Me too! I didn't really pay much attention to muse until Adam started talking about them. Now I love them! I love Adam's cover of this song. Adam and Matt should sing a duet!

The instrumentals definitely lack the fullness of MUSE, but i guess Adam's more focused on vocals than anything else. Personally, I didn't like this cover, but I absolutely loved his cover of 'Soaked' on his new album (which was written by Matthew Bellamy, of Muse!)

@HK271 Just wanna point out that Adam doing Soaked wasnt a cover, it was the official release as Matt and Muse gave the song to Adam as it didnt make it onto their album

I loved this tour. It was truly a wonderful moment in time to get to see Adam perform in concert so many nights per week. Hopefully he will go back on tour with his album soon.

I am real tired of hearing the Muse fans opinions. Go praise Muse and quit dissing Adam. I had never heard of Muse before Adam sang this and I purchased a Muse CD based on Adam's recommendation. I personally prefer Adam's rendition but I am more an Adam fan than Muse, but I would never go to Muse' YT video and diss Muse. Grow up, Muse fans!!

I love this version. I think it's what you hear first and are used to. Adam has a range that makes the song very beautiful.

He's pretty good, got a really good voice an all, but he doesn't have anything on bellamy. Matt actually wrote the song, and plays guitar and piano fantastically. But I mean, c'mon, I'm just really glad he chose a muse song instead of some other annoying hip hop beat or something, he obviously has a good taste in music, well imo of course ;)

Adam or any performer for that matter should not be judged on simply a 5 minute performance,,even tho he's been at this a long time, this part of his career is still new to him,,as he said, "I'm still learning." The man can sing any genre of music,,

Idk. He just breathes so much more life into it. Adam dwelves& realy digs deep into the highs and lows more than Bellamy more thus creating a more emotional presence.

@bremp3 Hmm, I can see how you'd like this version more if that's what you dig about the song, but I actually prefer it with the vocals toned down. This is definitely just a personal opinion, but I think for me there's too much life breathed into it here. I much prefer Bellamy's vocals, they seem to flow better with the music.

He has an incredible talent but he needs to tone it down once in a while... The original feels way more under control than Adam's cover. Same can be said by his rendition of Soaked (Even though it is good). Anyone who thinks this is better than the original is obviously just an Adam fan sad to say. This is just a bit too high in pitch throughout.

I would have much rather heard Adam sing Time is Running Out by Muse... there's some extremely high notes and I think he could do them well! This doesn't show off his range too well. Still good though of course.

If Adam isn't in the same league why on earth would Matt Bellamy have given Adam the song Soaked for his new album??? Fact is, Adam has huge talent and people like being part of an artist who has mega talent because they know he will be big. As far as I know Matt has not given any other artist a song he wrote.

I think Adam did a great job with this song - beautiful. Matt Bellamy must have thought he has huge talent or he wouldn't have given Adam one of his songs. Adam has recorded a song called Soaked on his album which was written by Muse and they let him have it.

I LOVE Muse!!! Have for years and I also love this version of the song. Yes, it's a lot higher than the original, but I respect that fact that Adam didn't just re-sing the original. Adam can sing pretty much anything because I think he has a crazy 4 octave range, so he could have just sang it exactly the same way Matt does...but instead, he chose to 'make it his own' and sing in his higher register. Nothing wrong with that, it's a good cover.

I had never heard this song before until I heard Adam sing it when I went to the American Idol concert in Tacoma. I thought it was beautiful. So, Adam has introduced me to another artist or group that I like. First, it was Mad World and now it's Muse's Starlight.

Muse must not agree with you. They gave Adam one of their songs for his new album!! It is called Soaked. Muse didn't put it on their album and thought it fit Adam. Ther you have it!!

I agree. This is just terrible. I know people are saying that he is paying tribute to a good band or whatever, but let's be honest, If you can't properly cover the song of a band you respect, you probably shouldn't sing it to public.

Love Muse and happen to love this version too. Adam's voice is very ethereal and a good take on the song. No one is trying to replicate Muse - it is a cover. Adam is not recording any covers on his album which comes out in November.

Being a big Muse fan myself I don't get why you think it is Adam vs Muse. Adam recorded 28 songs and chose 12 or so for an his album of those he wrote 4. For a first album I think it is about normal. On the other hand Bellamy and Adam are about the only two falsetto singers out there and it also stands to reason they would respect each other. Why would you judge Adam before his album is even released. You might like it!!

Not so much... Both Bellamy and Adam can sing falsetto with clear and near perfect pitch. Adam has a full 4 octave range which is just highly unusual. There are definately a ton of people sing falsetto and a ton more who try. But very few who truly do it well.

WTF!? Thom Yorke has a better falsetto than Adam, adam sometimes put a lot of falsettoin the songs and that ruin it a lot.
Another example its Chris Martin but he do it less, but he can do falsetto :)
The best artists or singers with falsetto today are bellamy and yorke, no more...

josephXbliss, There was nothing self-contradictory in what xentafly wrote. 4 songs are written by Adam alone, most were co-written by him, and a couple given to him have never been released & will not be considered covers since Adam's versions will be considered the definitive ones. 4 solo works are not pitiful since Frank Sinatra only co-wrote 7 in his whole career & Elvis only did covers in his first year as a recording artist. I wonder what your real problem with Adam is.

When I saw Adam live, I was absolutely amazed by how great his voice really is. I was a huge fan throughout the whole show, and went almost purely to the concert for Adam, but I was almost completely taken aback by his voice when I actually heard it live.
This was my favorite song by him, I actually started crying when he sang it, because I thought it was so beautiful. I love the end of this song. It's absolutely amazing. I can't wait for his cd and next tour and everything else he does.

It's a good effort sung a little too high, but I'm not knocking it, you have to have some reasonable level of talent to do it this well. I've seen Muse do this live 4 times - I respect Adam's fans who think this is brilliant, but if they saw Muse live ..... go see them when they are next in the USA - "best live band in the world". Full credit to Adam for taking it on & bringing Muse and Matt Bellamy to a wider audience, I can't see how any Muse fan could really disapprove of this performance.

I love Muse but I don't mind Adam covering one of their songs. It'll never be like the original because Matt has his own unique style but the best cover I think I've ever heard is Adams version of Ring Of Fire. His style shines through on that cover but it doesn't shine through on Starlight.....it's good though!

Well I've been a Muse fan since the days of Showbiz but you know whether you like it or not, other artists are going to cover Muse and I don't see the problem with that. I'm happy to say that as a long standing fan I don't begrudge someone complimenting Matt by choosing to cover one of his songs. I think Matt would be insulted by his own fans who couldn't cope with it

I like Adam's version just fine. I love Muse and I love Adam. Love Muse's new CD! Can't wait till Adam's comes out Nov 24th!! Since Muse let Adam sing this song, they are good with it too (gave him their permission) Life is good :-)
