my mistake it is a '59 LP jr. Anyways, i NEVER said that he doesnt have a guitar tech. But I am just saying that this "live" version is way too clean through the verses and chorus, you can even hear his guitar being played behind that track. And Im pretty sure that he wouldnt just use some artificial slide effect for this one performance. I have heard this song being performed many different times and he has NEVER used those extra licks and I dont know why you keep talking about his guitar tech.

I don't understand what you are getting at. First of all he is playing a '63 Melody Maker, and of course I know the sound difference. He plays his MM most of the time live and of course I know the sound it makes, that's why I pointed out the difference. If you listen at 1:40 the little lick that is played (he never plays that live) same goes with the part at 3:01. At 2:25 when he bends you can hear the 2nd guitar. So... In my mind it is VERY clear that he is playing along side the track.

Why would you say I am not a guitarist? I am just saying that I have seen Keith Urban perform "Kiss a Girl" in about 30 different locations, and not once has he played along with the track, or using the slide (now Nutter is a different story, he tends to play the last lick near the end of the song usually a slide.

i seriously love keithurban's music, but the guitars are dubbed. If you listen faintly, all the band's live instruments are panned to the center. This means they are still playing (you can hear keith doing the kiss a girl solo the way he does it live very faintly under the one playing). The rhythm guitars sound too clean and nice to be live, but then again you can still hear keith and nutter's guitars under the ones playing. The singing is still real too. probably the show's choice, not keith's.

Hey they must be also using those NEW battery powered amplifiers that have no power leads on them and the new wireless guitar systems that dont require a receiving unit to sit on top of the amp !!......and I also noticed that the on light on the Marshall stack is not working must have blown the globe out .....that can happen you know !!!.....LOL..... off to see Keith this Satdy nite in Melbourne!!....I wonder if he will do a Brittany there as well ???.....

Would someone please explain to me why I am hearing the recorded version of the solo? The recorded version is using a slide, and neither Keith or Brian is playing slide for the solo. I am not wrong, it sounds like he is playing along with the album track's solo, but singing live. Why would he do that? There must have been a technical problem for him to do that.

Hey man, the recorded version i think uses a slide but keith does not when he plays live. He can't go from playing the intro and chords here to all of a sudden putting one a slide finger and playing the solo. If you have seen him live you will see he doesn't play slide for the solo, only the album

There were a few perfomances where he did, i think one was the ACMA's i think, but he did do it with a slide, and played chords and stuff, its possible, u just put a mini slide on ur little finger, and Nicholas might be right....... it could be the studio recording, cause you hear a slide at the beginning of the solo, and he doesnt do that...... oh well
