I have an RCI2970N2 mounted in my pickup truck. Antenna I use is a Wilson 4' fiberglass when I'm driving and thanks to a quick detach mount, can use my 102" SS whip when stationary. My meter has it putting out 150 watts deadkey AM and up to 250W SSB. I got it to this level by simply adjusting the output very slightly. These are great radios and are very stable on frequency.
Mine is the green display and the PA fail with no reason (rev A). 4 mosfet keep working so I decided to run only with them at 100W until I get the new PA board (rev D) that give me 250W without tune (my radio just have the clarifier mod done). The new revision have some fixes that prevent mosfet fail. N2 do 300w in dummy load with not big mods. The original PA board that was included with this radio fail and Ranger said that was because radio over tune and thats false!!!
You want to talk DX well then all you need is a RCI 2995,Good low loss coax and a good set of beams up at least 36 ft high and you will talk DX to anyone you can hear!
250 watts isn't very much, there are people that have well over 3000 watts

What? They do 3KW's with just the radio? LOL...you're so fuller shit, dude. 250 is enough to run some skips around the globe. Check out some really HD-Hf Machines like Emtron DX4 or OM 3500. Knock off all the wienywasher amps you might have ever seen them before. It's home made junk. Most of the Cb'ers they don't even own vaccum cleaners with 2000W...or even a microwave with this wattage
@TheZeke1974 i didn't say anything about channel 6, we use 11, 15, 22 and a few others, but radio checks on 19 in a populated area putting out over 2000watts is just funny
@bobbyarmstrong3 Whats the sense in running 3 to 5 KW or more? IMHO if you cant hear them you cant work them! Ive talked worldwide with 150 watts and a Moonraker 4 beam up 60'!

@TheZeke1974. I work the world on my Antron 99 only 27 feet off of the ground. Moonrakers are one of the best beams ever made in my opinion.
