@septip123 On our website we have definitions for our ratings.
8 – Recommended – Solid beer, with nice flavor and presentation – would happily drink it or buy it when available and would even recommend others do the same.
7 – Good – Has a nice flavor and presentation – would drink it any day of the week and would choose it over other beers at a bar, restaurant or store.
oh my bad. isint it a amish based area with heritage?thought there were still some communities around.so how bout trappist ale made by monks? in belgian. No monks?
thanks for the review. I liked the IPA. i dont like ipa 's much but i liked this one alot.way better than sierra nevada's.i would give it a 8 out of 10.very drinkable.their hefferweizen is good too.
@ekarmst I agree. We aren't BJCP trained. We are just a bunch of average guys with tastebuds giving regular guy opinions. The goal of this show is to learn about beer, have fun and find new beers that we enjoy drinking. We have no interest in whether a beer is true to style. We only care about whether we enjoy it. Hopefully a few people will enjoy the show and learn a few things about beer at the same time. Beer snobs take a back seat in the BBA. :)
@ekarmst You should check out some of our newer Better Beer Authority episodes. Just wondering if you think we've improved any. Our latest is La Fin du Monde.
I don't know any imperial stouts that would be quite that high in IBUs. Maybe in the 70s or so. Stouts aren't known for being bitter - rather, malty. A double or imperial IPA might be up in the 70s - 90s. After 90 IBUs the beer is so bitter you can't really handle it or even taste it.
Never heard of this one. Can't get it here in NY. I do like a good crisp pale ale though.
Yeah, most IPAs and Imperial Stouts are not that high. I only said that some could reach that level. Sorry if that wasn't clear. Once the IBUs get above 100 it is beyond the threshold of what most humans can differentiate. Thanks for watching. I watched one of yours today - Flying Dog K-9 Cruiser Winter Ale. Good job.
is there really a difference between a 7 and an 8????
