Red John is actor Jack Plotnick, aka the Forensics expert from the Pilot and this episode, "Red Sky Happening." I am 100% sure of this.

As someone stated, William Blake had a painting called "A Brace of Patrdige.' The forensics guy's name is -Brett Partridge. Bingo like the person said. Also note, that Red John has been in the CBI before --hence forensics guy.
