  • great video, nice and clear voice, good timing. Thanks

  • Dude, I need to know where to get the other tool bar in the right hand side.

I didn't have that to select the layers

  • @zaxgamez

If you select the "Windows" menu and then "Dockable Dialogs" you see a list of dialogs that can be displayed. You can then select Layers and Channels.

  • @tutor4u Thanks, I'll give it a try, and I'll let you know what happens!!!

  • @zaxgamez All you have to do is CTRL + L. o. o its the layer box :33

  • this video is AWESOME. very detailed instructions and i love it, i made my fist button and it looks awesome, thank you so much :D

  • Excellent. Thank you.

  • hey for some reason, the layers window on the right of the screen don't appear anymore? how come? help please.

  • Очень мне понравилось!

  • another good tutorial , wonder if you might be interested in demonstrating how to use gimp and inkscape together on a project As it is useful to be able to do this some times.

  • had no idea how to do any of that untill this tutorial...

    thnks

  • How do i make that layers etc. box on the right?

  • I've just downloaded Gimp and this was really helpful at getting me started - pitched at just the right pace - thank you!

  • I love your tutorials. I really appreciate the time you put into them. Quick question if you have time: If I want to make a similar oval glossy button with an image - say a photo of a face - on the button rather than a color and some text, how would I do that? Save the image as a pattern and use that to fill and then follow the other steps, generally? Thanks in advance!

  • thank you for teaching me this :)

  • very clear cheers!

  • after i do that circle thing it lines all the circle not just to edge of that thing what u do

im from finland so sry my english

  • Very Clear Very Helpful Thanks

  • Great tut man. One small thing would make it perfect: tiny bit of shadow under the text inside the button. But this is the best and easiest to follow tut for this I've seen. Rated and sub'ed.

  • Thank you so much. Great tutorial and at a great pace so that I could follow exactly what you were doing. QUESTION. You did not cover how to SAVE or EXPORT?? Let's say that we want to save as 120 x 40. How can this be accomplished?? PLEASE HELP

  • @kkashi01

Select "Scale Image" under the "Image" menu. This is were you can change the size of the image. By clicking the icon to right side of the width and height entry boxes, you can select whether or not you want to constrain the proportions. Then you can save your resized imaged by using one of the save options under the "File" menu.

  • @tutor4u Unfortunately, that's resizing the entire 640 x 400. How can I only select the button that I created?

  • @kkashi01

You can use the rectangle selection tool, or any of the selection tools, and select exactly what you want to resize. Then select "Fit Canvas to Selection" under the "image" menu. Then you can select "Scale Image" from the "Image" menu.

  • @tutor4u THANK YOU for speedy responses. It worked like a charm. One more last question. I used selection tool and selected an area that is somewhat bigger than button, then as you said, fit to canvas. However, how can set that extra margin as transparent so?

  • @kkashi01

It's probably just the background that is not transparent. So, in the layers dialog box to the right, just right click on the background layer and select "Delete Layer." That should do it.

  • Thank you so much. Great tutorial and at a great pace so that I could follow exactly what you were doing. thx

  • u need to make ur points more clear and dont speek to us like were retards

  • @zALFIEzgaming Fuck you man this as awesome!

  • @guitarmastertlc shut up

  • @zALFIEzgaming ok sutting up in 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 seconds.

  • Excellent Tutorial! Well done!! :)

  • Me gustó mucho éste video, gracias!

  • Thanks for the help.

  • Awesome video. I learned a lot. Thank you so much. :)

  • how to open the layers, channel, paths, undo??plz reply fast

  • @ultraguy66

If you accidentally closed it then you can select the following menu item:

    Windows->Recently Closed Docks->Layers, Channels, Paths …etc.

Otherwise you can open them individually from the following menu:

Windows->Dockable Dialogs->then choose the ones that you want.

  • @tutor4u thx

  • Love The Voice + Nice Tutorial = SUBSCRIBED

  • Thank you very much sir.

  • Excellent, thank you very much.

  • Really useful and easy to understand tutorials. Thanks for shearing your knowledge with us.

  • your vid tutorial is very good alright but i just have one question. ideally how many times do we need to open a new layer? coz i dont have any idea.

is there a rule for that? can i hear a tip from you? thanks much.

  • im starting to like graphic artistry.ü thanks much yeah.

  • WOW...that is such beautiful work. I found it very useful. Thank you.

  • Very nice tutorial, and informative (A+) in relation to key board instructions.

  • thanks

im new to gimp and this really helped

  • nut to be an asshole or so but you talk whitout emotion

  • I am still unsure about the layers option. Should you have put the text in a new layer?

  • @Ameliag123 Text automatically goes in a new layer ;)

  • I had it up to the part with the ellipse and Ctrl+Shift, but when I tried that, instead of selecting the inside part of both selections, it subtracted the rectangular selection from the elliptical selection. I'm sure I'm pressing the right keys. I also went to the tool options menu and clicked on the far left option (the same as you described, but without holding down the keys) and the same thing happened. What is wrong? Please help! Thanks!

  • @Kokiri971

It's possible that the button selection was not inverted after deleting the red fuzz from the outside of the button. If you recall from the video, the button selection is first inverted, then the red fuzz is deleted, then the selection needs to be re-inverted back again. You can refer to the video at the 5 minute and 10 second mark to see what I'm talking about.

    I hope this helps.

  • @tutor4u Thank you! I guess I had forgotten to do that. Whoops. Great tutorial!

  • Great post. Thanks for keeping it simple and straight forward. Audio and video are clear and concise, well done. Can't wait to make my first shiny button!

  • great tutorial. but you sounds really creep, just sayin.

  • this is pretty cool

  • 5:00 please help - when i hit the delete key, i delete the red INSIDE of the button as well as the red around

  • Thanks so much, you've been very helpful!

  • Hi, I find your viedos most helpful, however, I am stuck on one point. Could you please tell me, please, how I can actually upload my button on my webpage? I have created a button with "get instant access" text on it. I have got it onto NVU and then uploaded it onto my webpage but the button does not appear! NOOOO :( Only small text "get instant access appears", but no button. I would me most grateful if you could help here. Thank you ever so much.

  • @jsvihla

Make sure that the button image was actually uploaded to your webpage. I'm not familiar with NVU but if it only uploaded the HTML code, and not the button image, then that would explain what you are seeing. If your webpage cannot find the button image then the alternate text will be displayed instead. You can use a free program called FileZilla to upload your image. You can also use FileZilla to determine if your button was uploaded.

  • DUDE! i love you that help me out soo dam mutch! thanks!

  • How do I make it change color when someone puts their mouse over the button?

  • Great Job! You did really well at describing each step!

    Thanks

  • man your voice rocks

  • Awesome tut for absolute beginners like myself, very well nicely narrated and very helpful, I'll definitely be subscribing to your channel if there will be more tuts up :)

  • Thank you! I really did fix it in Gimp. Great!

  • Another awesome tutorial, thanks. Your videos are always concise and the timing is perfect. You seem to know exactly how much to describe and when - it's clear you put a lot of thought and effort into them. I'm not a beginner in Gimp or Inkscape; it is tutorials like yours that makes that true. I always learn 'something' from your videos. Very well done. Thanks again

  • ANOTHER good tutorial , thanks for your prompt reply to my question the other day

  • @MrWaynemarshall You're welcome.
