  • September 26, 2011 was a truly sad day for us. It took this long for me to comment on it without feeling extremly sad to the point of anger. Seems like there was so many choices, why him, but my brother who is older by 3 minutes seems to have more understanding about the workings of G O D than I and assured me there must have been a reason. So I vow to always remember Jessy and no one can take that away from me, not even G O D.... Tsk Youyousova

  • I just heard about Jessy Dixon's passing and was shocked and sadden to hear of his homegoing. In the 60's he had a song entitled "I will never turn back no more" and if there is anyone who can help me get a recording of this song i would really appreciate it. I believe the Chicago Community Choir was his back up on this song. I have followed him for a long time and always enjoyed his singing. Thanks to anyone who can help me find this song or would post it on you tube.

  • Well Bro. Jesse you have made it on in to sing right in the Heavenly chorus, what a lead voice for that choir up there. May the Lord bless your memory and we will forever cherish all the music you left us and how you ministered. My prayers go out to his family.

  • TheFirecogicuk, I don't care who wrote the song, Bro. Joe May sing it better than anyone.

  • Have your opinion I have mine Professor Alex Bradford sang the song better than Joe May. Alex can give Joe a run for his money.LOL

  • @TheFirecogicuk

Hey guys, listen to Bessie Griffin sing this song. Let me know your thoughts. Also give the Davis Sisters a try. :-)

  • If it wernt for James Cleveland Jessie Dixon or Billy Preston might not have been up there.

  • @TheFirecogicuk Thank God for open doors (James Cleveland). I would to God that there were more open doors for anointed and purposed men and women. I thank God for Jessy Dixon's ministry.

  • Sandra Crouch Directing.

  • Look at James on the Piano! YES I REMEMBER THIS NIGHT!

  • There is a version of this song where the vocalist sounds like Stevie Wonder. I heard it years ago on the radio. Does ANYBODY know by change who it was singing??????

  • Probably was Alex Bradford

  • I was origanal Written and sung byALex Bradford in 1954 ,and in the 60s.

  • YOU KNOW that all artists are always looking for that CERTAIN SOMETHING as their career progresses. Well when JESSE recorded TOO CLOSE, he FOUND IT!!!!! HE FOUND IT!!!! Words cannot do justice!!!! THE INTENSITY is mind boggling. Isk & Tsk Youyousova

  • powerful and anointed

  • I grew up listening to Bro Joe Mays sing this song.

  • The first time I heard it,Professer Alex Bradford sang it. Every Sunday morning the radio played it.

  • that's alright now!!

  • One of my dearly beloved Granny's favorite songs.

  • We sung this song some years ago. Jessy is still a great singer. I heard this song on his cd I Know What Prayer Can Do.

  • Who is that backing Jessy up. They are wonderful. When I hear that song all I can think of is Bro. Joe May. I love Jessy's singing but that song belongs to Joe May and him only.

  • I know James Cleveland is on the piano.

  • yes, and Billy Preston was playing the organ, when remembered seeing it on tv

    peace

  • you're so wrong Alex Bradford wrote and sang this song in 1954 Joe May sang this song adn put his name on it.

  • @TheFirecogicuk HEY HEY YOU GUYS. Does it matter who sing it the best.? I think I would appreciate this masterpiece even if DONALD DUCK was singing. OK you can start throwing things at us now. All in fun.....Isk & Tsk Youtyousova

  • i lOve thiS sOnG.. who were da doodz who sing it?? they were kinda newer tho.. ??

  • I taped this Celebration in 1988.I broke the tape re-winding it back to this selection.

    Thank ya !!!

  • Isn't it so sad how todays "Gospel" celebration has a completely different feel? In short, the spirit is virtually gone,as these artists move more toward entertainment! So sad!

  • I agree on that. I can't nor don't understand what's up with the Gospel Artists. They don't even play songs on radio that has alot of meaning anymore. Again I agree that it is so sad.

  • It's tragic. YOu are right.

  • Thank you for posting this song. I remeber as a child my mother playing this song by Brother

Joe Mays, who wrote it. Jesse DIxon really sings this song.

  • Thank you for posting this I used to go to his concerts when I was in my teens he still seems the same age as then many years later.

It's too late now for me to turn around and go back some other way

  • I agree.

  • One of the most beautiful gospel songs ever and Jessie SANG that song!!!!

  • This is a dream come true. I have been looking for this recording for 7 years back in my hometown of Ufa, Russia. My first shopping venture was to find this recording. I don't know how my mother knew it, but she sang it to us everytime we had major difficulities in our young lives. This is the happiest day of our lives. Isk & Tsk Youyousova

  • As amazing as it seems that is the late James Cleveland on the piano.

  • this is a great video and an even greater song...our gospel choir used to sing this and the church would be thru!!!

  • One of the best gospel... performances I've ever seen.

  • YES!!!

  • This is absolutely amazing! The way the intensity of this performance builds throughout the song is unbelievable.

  • This is so true. Thanks for pointing that out. It actually rocks the emotion. We don't know too much about gospel music, but listening to this, who needs to know more.
