They wouldn't have been able to use the pyrotechnics in Glasgow - Brixton is twice the size of Glasgow.
I guess it also comes down to demand and population as well. More people live in the centre of London than in the whole of Scotland plus people will be more likely to travel to London than to Glasgow unfortunately.
I can't wait to see them in Helsinki in September with Apocalyptica as support

struggling on the highs is pretty common in live metal.. the mighty bruce misses a few on maidens live after death even at the start of the gig but its still sweet
kinda adds to the whole live feel to me if its not absolutely note perfect
I think exactly the opposite, Anette is singing the higher notes in falsetto, thats the way she founded to reach them without an operatic vocal technic. And I think she did it well.
In the case of Tarja its more correct to talk about head voice and chest voice, (I think) because with an operatic technic you have almost always a similar tone from the higher to the lower notes, always stronger notes in the case of Tarja.
Anyways, inspite of personal preferences, both are great singers!
I met Anette before this concert and she is the sweetest angel and has the voice to match no matter what you all say. Tarja may have the better technical voice but she isn't half the lady Anette is. Anette sang her heart and soul.. Tarja just follows the old routine.
she could go and take some operatic style singing lessons and sing like tarja if she really wanted, but she uses a belted technique, so she projects her voice at the front and she uses completely different resonances then operatic singers, then uses all the space behind the 'masque'

God, i love this band so much. The current setlist is amazing but if I was to judge them by the songs they can now afford to leave out...they'd still be the greatest band by a wide margin.

Why would copyright issues be a problem? Tuomas is still in the band, shouldn't all the songs belong to him and be free to re-record with a different vocalist?
Copyrights belong to the creator of the songs, not the performer. And since Tarja did not write anything for them, I don't see how she would be "stuck to their ass like an old barnacle".
On the contrary it would be her who would need Tuomas' permission to record any of the NW songs. For now the most she could do is to cover them live.
unfortunately reality of financial concerns dictates I will not be able to get to Finland in time. I make only 1700 Canadian a month and with the Euro being like 1.36 Canadian the conversion rate would murder me not to mention in September the flight to Helsinki is 1100 and the I would need hotel money, etc, just not gonna happen but ill have awesome YouTube clips to watch

This is so beautiful. I've watched this video about a dozen times now and the first couple of times I couldn't keep myself from crying.
I've seen them live in Rotterdam last week and she was equally impressive. There is some depth, texture, color in her voice that Tarja was missing.
Annette is such a brave woman. Taking on this job with Nightwish and enduring all that harsh criticism to show now, finally and triumphantly, that all her critics were wrong.

I knew that this song was situable for Anette, I always imagined how it would sound, but, I was wrong, because it sounds thousand times better than i could imagine!!!
The start was a little shaky, but oh my fucking God, the rest was incredible, the choruses in particular, she sounded amazingly good. Never in a million years thought I would hear Nightwish play this live again, but holy shit, this is one of the best old era songs I've heard her do.

she's singing like an angel..oh my fucking god, sometimes i think how music of this band can sounds always so good and perfect..They are genious...You can looking for better bands, but you will never find it from symphonic metal because Nightwish owns it <3 good example is Within temptation...It's just okey or good, but Nightwish is my god. i'm so happy we have this band in this world...so great, so awesome. ^^

This is so beautiful. I've watched this video about a dozen times now and the first couple of times I couldn't keep myself from crying.
I've seen them live in Rotterdam last week and she was equally impressive. There is some depth, texture, color in her voice that Tarja was missing.
Annette is such a brave woman. Taking on this job with Nightwish and enduring all that harsh criticism to show now, finally and triumphantly, that all her critics were wrong.

I honestly Really like anette more than Tarja, She's Improved a million times, It was anette that got me into Nightwish, and I've always though she wouldn't handle some of the older songs as well, but she's nailing them and making them at least just as awesome If not better IMO Anette FTW!!!!!!

I love the strong base and all that... But it's a tiiiiiiny tiny bit to much in certain parts of the song were I would've liked to hear Anette sing instead of the base...

Now, this might just be myself... But it seems as if she trips over some of the lyrics... I adore the version, but when she has the lyrcis done in her head, then the song will be more amazing than ig was now...
I'm gonna run over to check out DBP, because this one and DBP are the two songs that I didn't want Anette to sing... But she did this one amazing so I'm hoping she'll do DBP the same way...

Oh my god the 'love and loss' part around 3:16 gave me the chills. Amazing. GLS is like in my personal top three of all NW songs and, dear God, it has been Annette-fied perfectly. I mean, the progress the woman's been making can be described as nothing but honestly remarkable. Respect.

her vibrato is just brilliant - i hate the way tarja could never do that well - its the missing part, it just shows pure control i love it :)
i dont think i'll ever feel the way i did when i saw this - first the SHOCK of it coming on and i think i had tears the whole way through - and i cant imagine how happy tuomas must have felt to play it !!!

The start was a little shaky, but oh my fucking God, the rest was incredible, the choruses in particular, she sounded amazingly good. Never in a million years thought I would hear Nightwish play this live again, but holy shit, this is one of the best old era songs I've heard her do.
