I was shocked when she started chirping - I have beeen keeping guineas as pets for over 15 years and have never ever heard such a sound! At first I thought she was in pain and even posted this sound to the guinea pig community on lj - and people there told me they indeed CHIRP - no one knows why! :)

I have a guinea pig that does this as well, usually at 3am and will do it for hours at a time when she does it. It can be highly annoying.

No, guinea pigs do indeed "Chirp". It was no bird, just a very happy guinea pig expressing himself.
