  • I also do not know how the crowd can sit there so quietly. I would be rocking out!!! Fuck YEAH!

  • I was only 1 yr old when this was played. I grew up in the wrong era! I freakin love CHRISSY and her voice. Her peformances are magically and she is my idol. I'm in AWE of her!!!!

  • I saw Divinyls around late '81 here in Melbourne and they kicked some serious arse. Chrissie at one point drank what seemed like a gallon of water then sprayed the sweating audience with it. Brilliant

The band to me always seemed on the periphery due to their punk related roots, when in reality they belonged on the centre stage of the Oz music industry

  • The only time I can recall seeing a band on TV and running out to buy their record was after seeing this show broadcast. Make you happy? YES!

  • In every Rock historian's memory, Divinyls and Chrissy Amphlett figure much larger than other more well known, but derivative artists. And this is as it should be.

  • I love the way she pouts, sings through her hair and how she can make her words echo within the word...

  • Wow, what a great song, it's unique...

  • Absolutely awesome. Nobody does like Chrissie, why is this woman so sexy to me? I don' t think I am alone! She rocks!!!

  • She is absolutely mesmerizing.....I can't take my eyes off of her when she's on stage.....she exudes a sensuality and sexiness that was NEVER hidden(at least to me)by that schoolgirl outfit!!

  • Man...I so wish I could have seen them during this tour.

  • Siouxsie, Chrissie hynde,Chrissie Amphlett . Definitely Alanis M. Tori Amos McLachlan. who are the interesting woman in Rock NOW?

  • wish we had more groups that can actualy sing like this. seems in the mid 90's talint went on a mager slump. i'm not dissing or nothing but groups like the devinyls the bangles the gogos what happened to that kind of talent.now the uk has some rocken groups that have talent the dream side switchblade symphony ect. i'm in the us. sad i have to look over seas to get good music!!!!!

  • best band ever!!!! I can't get enough. So much love for Chrissie and the boys.

  • the high notes at the end give me chills everytime i hear this song. Amazing voice/amazing band

  • saw them at the piggery, byron bay...way back in 1989! I was almost as wild as chrissy back then.

  • WOW ..what a kick ass song ,fantastic in every way. Go Chrissie. and that little bastard Mark McEntee is pretty handy with the guitar. i love it. RIPPS HARD

  • Ahh Chrissy Amphlet-Rock Goddess I bend to kiss your divine feet.

I was blessed to live thru the '80's as an alternative/punk in Aussie. You can't beat this kind of music. Loved and still lovin' it.

  • Girls don't make rock music like this any more and I am so proud to have grown up listening to Chrissie and and lot of 80's music . Stuff these days is just rubbish.

  • Chrissy can hold thousands of people in her hand it`s amazing

  • 1984. Australia had Chrissie and the Divinyls and we in the U.S. had Madonna. Weren't we lucky?

  • Thanks so much for posting this!

  • ...an excellent tune from the early 1980's...thanks for posting this on wonderful you.tube...

...my window to the sights, sounds & memorable stimuli.....

    :-)

  • Great video! Great Quality! Great Band! Thank you for uploading.

  • this is a totally awesome band. my favorite rock and roll band ever.

  • woohoo!

3 versions of Only Loney. Love it.

This is an incredible band. I'm glad I've experienced them from the 80's.

    It's a blessing.

  • Genius. Love it!

  • I love the way her eyes glisten..

    How she whinces at times.

and they way she nailed those childish moves, stances and expressions. No one like her. A true original. And the band could hold it's own against all challengers.

  • lol i think someone's in love.

  • he's not the only one in love! It's fair to say Chrissie was a true original: singular voice, looks and stage presence.

  • @MediaPointEnt this gives me goose bumps....

  • I enjoy her so much!

  • There's nothing fake here: what rock should be. Maybe rock is now dead, alas, but at least we have the memories, very much alive if virtual.

  • One of the GREATEST front women of all time. Hand-down.

  • Totally, and this clip is from one the best live performances of one of best songs to come out of oz. What a unique voice: from husky and gravelly to yodeling squeals. The voice is the icing on the very tasty cake.

  • LONG LIVE TO CHRISSIE

  • I need to get this concert . Please if anyone knows how I may find it , I need to make a copy for my sister. This brings me back to the 80's

  • good song, but what the hell is she singing?? "i am only lone...??? " cos it doesnt sound like lone..ly :S

  • She is indeed singing "i am only lone-ly" - Chrissy has a way of chewing words up evident here and also very much so on "Science Fiction" - I love her

  • Anyone named after an AC/DC album is simply awesome in my book!

  • She is gorgeous ! Such a true artist and an amazing female voice in Australian rock. She should be higher on the pedistal of women in rock. Divinyl's are truly one of the best rock bands to come out of Australia. She puts a lot of female rock artists to shame in todays music. You rock Chrissy !

  • I saw the Divinyls at the showgrounds in Sydney around this time - it was the Angels, Swannee, Jimmy and the Boys and them [!!!!] and the Divinyls were the one that blew me away - what a performer she was. Australian rock music used to be really something... grumble grumble...

  • I saw the Divinyls, the Sunnyboys and Rose Tattoo at the Hordern Pavillion also around the same time. Wow, what a gig and i was SOBER!!!

Did you see Swanee,The Angels and ACDC at the Showground in 1981 on their Back in Black tour???

  • dasblood and supernalone,ok name some bands

  • There is new music out there. Of course, some will be commercial pap, but a lot of it is freash and different and every bit as original as stuff from the good old days. The commercial stations won't play it, the same way they wouldn't play the Sex Pistols, Devo or The Ramones when they first came out. Yes, it was the same story back in the late 70's and early 80's. A lot of great stuff never got on the radio, but the kids new about it. Same today. It's out there, and some of it is very good.

  • New Wave was more or less about disillusioned, cynical & brokenhearted romantics, crying their pain and hopeless desires -- today there is nothing but mimicry, aping previous styles without any heart -- the urge to self-express via rocknroll is mocked - the only thing that is presumed to be authentic is the heartache of teenagers, but even that is prepackaged -- yes, folks, turn to the music of your parents when they were young, it is their legacy to you, to keep your souls alive -- go Divinyls!

  • Simply Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • fuck this rips.i wish they made music like this now. nothing but originality

  • I was only lonely, that's all! - I am blown away, this looks like it was recorded yesterday!!!

  • I only wish there were bands around as recently as yesterday who could put on performances such as this. I was three-years-old when this show took place! Hard to believe this was recorded almost a quarter-century ago.

  • From one Divinyls fan to another, you rock! Thanks so much for posting these clips. I was born the year of this performance, and I agree, you don't find bands like this anymore.
