  • It's Pidgin now, good tutorial!

  • does that work with msn and yahoo?

  • This instant messenger app has been renamed to Pidgin in recent Ubuntu versions.

  • Thanks for these tutorials.

If you would entertain a suggestion, I'd like to request a Ubuntu-based 'howto' on wireless card configuration, especially using ndiswrapper, since I've had so much trouble getting my Broadcomm internal wifi device (on an Compaq notebook), to be properly detected under Knoppix and/or Ubuntu. I believe once configuring a Wifi card becomes an automated task, Linux should take off and seriously challenge Windows.

    Thanks for your attention.

  • Yes, that's a very good suggestion. I'll definitely post a vid on that later. I've been able to get wireless working with WEP on a Dell Inspiron 6000 using the internal IntelPRO card. You are correct, it becomes automated once configured. So you are aware, if you Google "broadcomm ubuntu wireless" (without quotes), the first result will be the Ubuntu forums that specifically deal with configuring Broadcomm cards with the OS. Very detailed instructions are there.

  • Thanks for the tip...will be heading there in a few minutes. :)
