  • Was soll dass?

  • I see that Mickey's been deprived of Oscar, so do Alan for directing.

  • Great noire in the opening. Once he put on the nose guard, it lost all pace and intensity. The empty diner where he waits while the doc sweats it out was the top. The New Orleans scenes were okay, but Lisa Bonet is not convincing although she is, or was, hot. I didn't get the scarfing stuff at all when it came out, and the Ripper thing didn't work then or now.

  • Rosetta West

  • my favourite movie. De Niro maybe is the best actor and one of my favourite. But this movie belongs to mickey. He is so fucking awesome.

  • "you were doomed from the moment you slit that young boy in half johhny..."

don't know why but I liked how he said "johnny". I watched this movie recently and I loved it so much. The creepy atmosphere and brilliant dialogue made it true classic horror film.

  • Best acting I've ever seen. Rourke at his best.

  • rourkes best work by a country mile.

  • è vero che essendo il protagonista, la sceneggiatura ha messo in evidenza la sua interpretazione, ma in questa scena ha OSCURATO Robert De Niro...inutile prenderci in giro

  • Mickey Rourke should've won an OSCAR for his performance in this movie.

  • great movie; great performance; Rourke superb; much more than De Niro in this movie,of course; what happended tou you, Rourke with you career & you whole life after that??? You pissed off; what a pitty

  • There will never be another supernatural thriller like this or the Shining or the Exorcist ever again. Because every film now has to be rubber-stamped by a crew of buttoned-down, ivy league jackoffs with marketing degrees. And every film has to appeal to the twitching over-stimulated sensibilities of pre-teen Twilight fans that have never left the suburbs. Hollywood has jumped the shark.

  • So many scary elements of this movie.................and that includes the sex scene (seriously).

  • Soooooo...he screwed his daughter, then?

  • DeNiro played a good devil but Pacino was better in Devil's Advocate

  • @gmccall22 the both of them were very very good in my opinion, so damn chilling and so different at the same time.

Rourke was absolutely amazing in here, same for Keanu in Devil's Advocate, both of them gave truly underrated performances IMHO.

  • @PrimeTimeJokesta...I'd say Mickey was better than Keanu...Mickey's performance wasn't underrated according to critics , it was Oscar worthy to some, however when Mickey and Keanu came face to face with their Devils, Both scenes are great

  • @gmccall22 couldn't agree more, these movies should get credit than they do, two of my favorite flicks. both endings give me chills.

  • @gmccall22 That's funny. Comparing Keanu Reeves and Mickey Rourke? One is a brilliant actor, the other is a turd.

  • @Nautilus1972 .Uh? I said the SCENES are great. I'm not comparing the Actors. There is no comparison! Mickey is the brilliant one

  • qka e mackata mnpo..

  • 3 people couldn't get their goodies from the icebox

  • @udizzle1 And they are a dimestore joke

  • His voice after he's cried breaks my heart to pieces... =( Beautiful Mickey! ♥

  • The same shit that happened to Mickey Rourke's character happened to the devil when he came face to face with Chuck Norris.

  • Cool movie but read the novel it's based on! 'Falling Angel" by Wm Hjortsberg

  • Weird.... this movie did not really frighten me at all.

  • Genius Mickkey Rourke!

  • Mickey it was very beauty. Now he seems a old rockstar. GREAT!!

  • who is singing Girl of my dreams in this version?

  • @ronpi4286 Glen Gray, its an awesome song!!!!

  • @ronpi4286 Glen Gray

  • Whatever Deniro said at :48 - :52 is just beautiful. Smooth and excellent delivery.

  • funny I thought it was the other way around

  • i read in a book that de niro treated mickey like shit on the film set. damn, mickey payed him back in the movie. he owns de niro in this one.

  • yo most people probabley just look at this as a film a masterpiece but what you need 2 do is look at it in a different way, this film has a message which is being put across. All i will say is fiction derives from facts

  • the movie is scary but the ending is TERRIFYING AS HELL.

  • 00:53 - 1:48 - Such denial that it HURTS!!!!!!!!!!! When he says "I didnt kill TOOTS" POOR GUY!!!! AMAZING ACTING!!!!

  • the line - "I know who I am", Is he still refering himself as Harold Angel when he says it???

  • All my female friends think Mickey Rourke is super hot.

  • I know who I'm ?...

  • "I know who I am!" delivered by Mickey Rourke is one of the most chilling lines ever used in a horror movie. The whole premise is frightening and is also canon because according to the Book of Job Satan can't kill anyone without God's permission. Ergo, using Johnny Favorite as his instrument is ... good lord ... believable?

  • Its hard to upstage de niro, but in this scene, rourke just stands out here

  • damn that guy looks...different than mickey.

  • I wanted to snatch that raggedy wig off'a Deniro's head. I mean, I haven't seen a weave so bad since my college roommate (I hope she doesn't see this...um)

  • Mickey Rourke was gorgeous in this movie. I'd sell my soul to "Louis Cyphere" for a piece of that!

  • He truely is captivating to watch on - screen, Mickey Rourke that is, don't particularly like this film, but Mickey makes it worth watching, whoever wrote that comment about Cruise and all the supposedly leading men in Hollywood are right, Mickey is just magnificient, glad he made a come back, hope he wins an oscar!

  • This ending allways scared the fuck out of me don't know why but it does

  • Pope of Greenwich, Barfly, 9&1/2 weeks, AngelHeart, Year of the Dragon and Diner. Quite a run thru the eighties.

  • I LOVE THIS MOUVIE !!!!

The music in this mouvie are ....WOW !!!!!

Mickey is great, great ....a wondrous star !

  • rourke beats them all. pitty he couldnt manage his carrier

  • I think part of his problem was the fact that people were envious of him. And due to the fact that he probably got alot of shit from people, in turn made him unpredictable cause he doesn't like taking shit.

  • De Niro beats Pacino as the devil;

    subtle, understated....way creepier

  • To Pacino's defense, Angel Heart was better written. De niro had much better material to work.

  • @TookYerJob1 It's a completely different role, though, even if they're both devils.

  • @TookYerJob1 no way jose

  • best twist ending for me

  • One of the best flicks of its decade!

  • I know who I am ? Yep, a damn good actor !!!

  • I saw this film under the influence of LSD - I do not recommend it :S

  • @oskoret

    lofn

  • JOHhhHHHnyyyy

  • Fucking awesome still!

  • Angel Heart is a masterpiece that works on many levels - you can watch this film many times, for the genius acting or for the multiple meanings contained in the story. If anyone doesn't like it, its because it simply has gone over their head, or, for some reason, they're turned off by great acting - of the super intense variety. The scenes between Rourke and DeNiro are to be treasured . . . WOW!

  • Angel Heart is amazing Mystery/Thriller with unpredictable ending. Mickey Rourke showed brilliant acting. Definitely one of the greatest thrillers of the 80's.

  • who sings this version of Girl of my dreams? When De Niro is the vinyl

  • @kevtso , the soundtrack shows this song being performed by Glen Gray & The Casa Loma Orchestra.

  • oscar for rourke!!!!

  • Pretty Mickey is what I called him....love him so much

  • My god, one of the most intense scenes in horror/thriller cinema, fascinating, haunting, and amazing! Dark and thrilling, Mickey Rourke and Robert Deniro, two of the best and unforgiving, this film should be cherished, and leave you wondering in the end.

  • rourke is versatility personified. bobby's fans will forgive me if i blaspheme he always plays de niro(like duke wayne or wesley snipes or brad pitt) de niro is guilty of a million stinkers too! with that many at bats you have a few pearls to fall back on. please anybody what did the recurring fan-blade motif symbolize no mention anywhere?

  • @zeuqzavaj - the fans.

When Cyphre first visits Angel, he plays with his cane turning it in circles and Angel looks up and sees the ventilator fan start moving. Later, whenever someone's going to get murdered, we see a ventilator fan start moving... maybe symbolising Cyphre's evil presence & guiding hand (this is clearer with hindsight). It also generally precedes the horrific dream sequences... when Angel's conscious mind goes bye-bye & he's possessed...?

    It's one theory, anyway

  • begorra by gum loved prayer for the dying although i haven't come across it since a theater viewing early 80's

  • Who didnt self destruct in the late 90's. Christ what an awful time.

  • The analysis was on BBCTV the other day. Akan Parker said that the curtain of rain he ran into was Hell. . DFifteen long years, eh, Mickey? Never trust the English Middle classes. They think they own Shakespeare. in reality, The Stranglers do.

  • Rourke wanted to kick his french invading ireland one timeand you aint Irish movies in his bad days. Thats why you never see them in that scene together..Parker said it hell.

  • I think that RDe was very threatened by MR both physically and culturally ( de Niro like travolta claim they're more Mick than Mario). This is a famous one. The old not in the room together. My money's on Mickey.

  • I have an Irish father ( looks like Charlie, B, has standards ,worked since 9) its not the team, its not even the poverty. But it's the bitterness and remembrance of it.. As I say ,conditional love can be quickly considered when you're not on the recieving end. there arepeople crying the other end. Send the leaders kids into war!.

  • By all account, these two hated each other. It's cut that they're in the room together. De Niros' from Irish stock thus the name from the Norman Invasion (Hell, Travolta prefers his mothers side).

  • If Mickey had played the lead in Fight Club he would have walked the oscars. He's not quite up there with Sean C or Clint E or Charles B but he could have been. I'm Irish, he has himself to blame.

  • what happened to his voice? i kno about the botched up face surgery, but his voice has changed so much to...

  • ''the flesh is weak, only the soul is immortal..

    And yours belongs to me!''

    E.P.I.C

  • de niro is great but mickey stole the whole movie. mickey is the most talented actor of his generation. pitty we have to stand nerds like clooney, pitt, affleck, cruise etc...

  • I agree with you, Rourke was in outstanding form here to the point that he even overshadowed De Niro, who was also in great form. This film was utterly brilliant and probably the most overrated I can think of.

You are also right about actors like Cruise, not particularly talented but successful only because they have that polished face that Hollywood likes so much.

  • @giugnhgbvinierngvb89 Amen to that! Mickey's tha man. I'm so happy he's back in the big leagues!

  • @giugnhgbvinierngvb89 Couldnt agree more :)

  • @giugnhgbvinierngvb89 i agree mikey ruled this movie...but i wou'd say bradd pitt is a nerd, plus he wasn't really that big in the 80's. His big break was in thelma and loius i.e. early 90's.

  • @goodvibesallround pitt would never be a great actor. hes nowhere near brando de niro or rourke

  • @giugnhgbvinierngvb89 Yes, Rourke was the true heir of John Garfield *****

  • @giugnhgbvinierngvb89

I love De Niro, But Roukre is the God in this movie..."I Know Who I Am!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @williamrprice

The crack of his voice....Rourke...".I know who i am"...".and you're trying to pin it on me". "My name's not Johnny!"

    "I KNOW WHO I AM!!!!!"

  • @giugnhgbvinierngvb89 affleck especially, the guy probably has more razzies than Keanu Reeves

  • de niro played a great devil in this movie, but al pacino played a fuckin awesome devil in the devils advocate...i'm a God fearing man, but pacinos speech on God was extraordinary..then he really out did himself in scent of a woman speech

  • Argueably the best horror scene of 80s ever filmed.

  • ''I'm afraid you did Johnny!.they were all killed by your own hand, guided by me ,naturally.Frankly, you were dune from the moment you sliced that young boy in to half Joooohnny!'' !!!!!!!!! De Nirro looks here like the priest we had as a teacher in High School

  • And after ALL his great performances dating back to the 80's like this one in "Angel Heart," and INCLUDING a masterpiece performance for "The Wrestler," the Motion Picture Academy pays tribute to Mickey Rourke by fucking him over and giving the Oscar to a miserable left wing activist dwarf in Sean Penn.

  • well it was his first Oscar nomination, and i wouldn't put Sean Penn down he is a fantastic actor. i think his acceptance speech for milk was great, he burned himself and he gave credit to Mickey Rourke.

  • Yeah, you noticed that too huh? Yeah he credited Mickey in his speech because GUILT got the best of him. Hey, let's cut to the chase OK? EVEN Sean Penn knew it was Mickey's Oscar, and that it should have been Mickey's night. As for Penn....try this: go to a party and talk about his body of work. It'll be a short conversation. At the same party, talk about Mickey's body of work. Then....watch the faces lite up and you'll hear ppl go on and on about all their fav. roles he's played....nuff said.

  • aha, well i mean thats good if he felt guilty because he's telling the world i shouldn't have won this, i mean he did say 'i was not expecting this'. im not sure how big Mickey is over in Australia. his career became prety shitty in the 90's.

  • mickey is one of my favorite actors, but in my opinion ! sean penn acting is just as good..since bad boys in the 80s to carlitos way and u-turn etc...it wasn't seans fault the votes went in his favor to win the oscar, so why should he feel guilt ? sean was just being humble, besides ! sean works just as hard at what he does..i'm sure mickeys gotten over it , even before the awards were aired..giving credit to mickey was just the right thing to do

  • awesome awesome awesome awesome scene!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!the best of all times in the history of cinema!!!!!!!!!!!

  • All modern films where at the end the protagonist is insane or delusional and is in fact responsible for all the deaths in the film but he doesn't know it because he created an alter ego to deal with it, copied it RIGHT from Angel Heart-- PERIOD. This is a cult classic. I just bought it. The special features have hours of documentary footage about voodoo. There's also an interview with Mickey Rourke. He looks like shit in comparison to what he looked liked when he did the film.

  • yeah thats so true. like fight club and secret window did exactly that.

this is the one movie that keeps people watching all the way till the credits end

    10/10

  • what a tremendous acting scene by both Mickey Rourke and Robert DeNiro.

They were both great in this film.

I just saw this movie recently, and it was very intriguing.

This is definitely one of Mickey Rourke's best performances.

DeNiro definitely does another great job as the Devil, even though he only has a few scenes in the film.

    Great acting scene.

  • the best ever.................De Niro is Satan

  • and beleivable, he's an awesome actor too, always was. P.s.I seen this movie when it came out and it's stillin my head

  • A Great movie.. Superb Acting.

    Louis cypher...

  • Damn is Deniro a vampire in this? Lookat them nails boy.

  • rourke and alan parker should have gotten oscars.

  • Fucking A! Rourke makes Angel so likeable even when he's such a sleezebag, and as Johnny, much worse. You really feel for him in the end.

  • Be honest guys, dosn't this remind you of your rambling days. Drinking, fighting, waking up next ot some hiddious beast who's name you don't know.

  • One of the best dramatic performaces ever, Period.

  • This movie captivated me when I saw it as a kid. I always had a crush on Mickey Rourke. This film is so underrated.

  • Did Johnny kill Winesapp?

  • 'nasty accident'

  • @Malocosa thats interesting!

  • "I KNOW WHO I AM!"

  • Who knows the author of this song?

  • The composer is Sunny Clapp.

  • "Girl Of My Dreams" Performed by Glen Gray and his Casa Loma Orchestra

  • This is an utterly mesmerising interpretation by Rourke. And a fantastci performance by Parker as well who got the atmosphere spot on. This is a masterpiece, always underrated by the critics.

  • One of my all time favorites movies.

  • I've never seen this film, is this the ending?

  • Why's everyone busy bringing up DeNiro??? This movie belongs to Rourke.

  • Stunning film, Rourke is magnifcent but De Niro steals the picture as Louis Cypher. I love the concept of someone trying to trick Satan and almost succeding. It's so obvious though that Angel is Johnny Favorite, it's so heavily sign posted but it's still a classic film. De Niro may have succumb to commerical nonsense in the last decade or so but on this form, there was no one better. The scene when Rourke finds the dogtag when he lets out that howl is chilling.

  • So Obvious Angel is Favorite? Who are you trying to convince, yourself? I've shown this movie to many, many people over the last dozen or so years, many suspect Angel....BUT the ENDING, wait no, THE WHOLE MOVIE, is unpredictable, intense, genius, one of a kind. Many are impressed at first with DeNiro, after multiple viewings, Rourke's performance burns brighter and brighter. Angelheart is a Masterpiece.

  • I'm familiar with the movie but I'm confused. What are people left wondering in the end?

  • @dmeyer2626 Just hearing him scream "I know who I am" gave me chills! The scene with Crusmark was amazing him playing with the ice pick, Genius!

  • @dmeyer2626 BRAVO

  • @dmeyer2626 somebody is unimpressed with Rourke in this film? Who? He's absolutely brilliant the whole way through. Predictable or no, the films power is clear and strong.

  • Easily De Niro. Just look at his subtle and nuanced portrayal, everything from his long finger nails, downright to the slow and deliberate way he speaks, he's just eerie in this movie. Pacino goes over the top, but his character is also poorly written, everything is on the surface with that character.

  • A true masterpiece!! One of a kind performance by Rourke, who has always been under appreciated.

  • pacino ....... palyed that role way way way way way better he did so perfectly

  • Holy crap...

  • This movie was cool.

  • who played the best devil ? deniro or pacino... in devils advocate

  • Pacino. And he played it PERFECTLY!! 4 Stars!!

  • i was kinda leaning toward Pacino myself, but deniro is my favorite actor

  • Deniro is a great actor, and I would probably give him the nod in other roles, but as far as playing the devil, wow. Pacino was so sly and cunning in D.A. and the way he went "toe to toe" with God at the end was priceless! No worries, both of them are superb actors.

  • Comment removed

  • @gmccall22 to me Deniro was more mysterious, Pacino was more manipulative, so i go more for Deniro, its scarier

  • The best movie in my life. I know that it wont change. I got everything the movie could give me.

  • rourke is the man

  • You should let people know up front that this clip is a major spoiler!

  • good job I´ve seen this movie a few times before watching this clip, but yeah, they should say it´s the ending scene....

  • One of my personal favs of Rourke.

  • Mickey Rourke's finest work!!!...no doubt about it.

People don't miss this movie, you won't regret it. Just don t watch previews or trailers for your own sake.

  • I haven't seen this movie ..Mickey acts very well in this scene. De niro looks like th bad guy in the movie "the saint".

  • This is my all time favorite movie and yes Lisa Bonet was tasty .... she also lost a good job on Different World cuz of this flick.....some how Bill Cosby didnt like the nekkid bloody chicken dance

  • Great movie.... and Lisa Bonet was tasty :)

  • [ Spoiler alert ]

In the book Falling Angel by William Hjortsberg that this film is based on, Cyphre was the killer. He personally killed everyone. So it's a really neat twist here that Johnny Favorite committed all the murders while having been possessed by Cyphre.

Alot of critics& regular people who've disliked the film always praise the book but I think the film really blows the book right out of the water. Why? The film is darker, more depressing, and scarier.

  • great movie, great scene. Mickey's voice is so hoarse because they did a done takes. He always dismisses his performance in this movie, but I think this was one of his top 3 performances

  • BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!! : D <3

  • 2:41-that scared the piss out of me!

  • looked so fake i thought : o the nails creep me out though and the girl screaming

  • Rourke and DeNiro on a film back then? I didn't know they acted together on a film. Another thing, HOW the HELL did Mickey Rourke's voice changed so much? I like how he sounds now, but DAMN, what a goddamn change in his tone.

  • Gosh that really scares the shit out of me!!!

  • NONE BETTER !!!!

  • Rourke is a damn good actor.

  • It never ceases to amaze me that this film inspired so many of the touted psychological "modern-classics" like Fight Club or Memento, yet more oft than not, people do not remember Angel Heart, or even know it, until it is mentioned. I still love watching this bit and compartng it to Christian Bale's last scene in The Machinist - a direct copy if ever there was one.

  • Well apparently if you watch Mickey Rourke's recent interview on Jonathon Ross he explains how De Niro likes to improvise scenes and hates anyone trying to do the same, he likes to be ''top dog'' as it were and Mickey said that it was a nightmare to shoot.

    xxxxxx

  • Rourke hated making this film because of Robert De Niro.

    xxxxxxx

  • why would he hate deniro??

  • this is my favourite mickey rourke movie

I liked it even more than the wrestler

  • i agreed with you thundersky6

  • the "and your's belongs to me" Bit always get me, imagine seeing that at 6 years old, a surpisingly dark movie for a kid that age blame my parents
