not sure whether you found them but theres 3 quest chains from the tavern leading all the way up to chapter 3, dice poker, arm wrestling and fist fighting, they are repeatable as much as you like and can be a great source of income, max in chapter 3 is about 400 orens per arm wrestling match

No that type of bow is a compound bow and only modern materials (fibreglass and carbonfibre) are strong enough to withstand the bending. plus they are far more complicated in real life (pulley system etc)
