When Denzel is putting the trumpet together, its's like "foreplay"... It shows how serious he is about his music yet giving the audience an imaginative sex scene. Spike knew what he was doing when he made this character and he knew what he was doing when he picked Denzel for the part. ;-) Bleek IS sexy. That's all he is about.
love the symbolism in this scene, how they were spinning...kind of how passion is, got your head spinning, plus having the horn piece in there was to show how bleek's passion for music was only surpassed by his love for women lol....good stuff.
look at how small his tv is!!lol 20 years ago i was one saw this when i was like 14. i love the feel of this movie. and it helps that i really dig jazz music
I remember getting the soundtrack to mo' betta blues and being very disappointed.
Alot of the music you hear in the film is not on the disk. In particular, I wanted the the music piece at the start of this video. Not on the disk. I wanted the music arrangement at the start of the film. Not on the disk.
@BlakeVII I disagree. I also bought that soundtrack and it was one of my favorites. Sure, it didn't have every arrangement, but it also had stuff that wasn't in the movie too. You probably need to have a serious appreciation for Jazz to enjoy that soundtrack. It was classic being that the got Brandford Marsalis to come back and produce it for them. I still think the movie and the soundtrack are great to be completely honest.
@BlakeVII Naturally you would have to have an appreciation for Jazz just to purchase in the first place so pardon my presumption. My comment wasn't intended to be a personal attack more so than just offering my opinion & personal experience with the soundtrack which was surprisingly pleasurable and positive.
Apologies for any offense taken. My intentions were not accusatory and your point here exudes logical sense and reason.
i saw this movie when i was younger but to watch it as an adult it means so much more ive always felt it was a good movie but to watch movies like this with such deep roots as an adult means so much more
@DJLMovieGuy WOW! What is the name of the jazz tune at 4:48? Wasn't it something by Miles Davis? I haven't heard that since the 8th grade when my Jazz Band teacher made me learn it on trumpet, but I was watching this movie last night, and I knew I had to find out. It's funny, bc like you all, I saw this a long time ago when I was a little kid, but only now at 17 am I beginning to appreciate this movie and the soundtrack for what they really are. Wonderful art! Thank You Mr. Leon Mitchison!
What is that instrument after the jazz is all over
While Denzel is making all those noises
and the camera is in circles LMAO
That instrument makes me laugh LMFAO!!!!

@Kwizmatix Because I was disappointed not getting the starting arrangement, how does that compute that I don't have much of appreciation for jazz????
