0:00 - 1:30 "what the hell is this, it sucks."

1:30 - 2:30 "this is weird music, im starting to like it though"

2:30 - 4:00 "this is good. i think i could get into it"

@zbdd8 Maybe you could start with Jonsi... a little easier to digest. Took me a while to "get" Sigur Ros. Thankfully, I was exposed I first watched the Svefn-g-englar about ten years ago... it grows on you big time. This song probably isn't the best place to start. Try Hoppipolla, Svefn-g-englar, Glosoli, Staralfur... but definately check out the band Jonsi as well. Same music (same singer) but a little more upbeat. SR might not be your cup of tea, but it's clearly something special.

I found it while trying to understand what "post rock" was. I think I've seen enough of this genre. @zbdd8 You have to realise that post-rock isn't a genre that you can just put on and jam to and sing along to. Its not your ordinary pop. It doesn't have to be structured, its based on layers, emotions, moods like happiness and melancholy, and even dreams. I suggest you try closing your eyes and listen to this again, and imagine as the music soars. Surely, it might trigger something in you. And if it doesn't, well then atleast you tried, its not for everyone =) .

They construct layers of sound as if musically equivalent to the structure of nature itself. It honestly sounds like life evolving, synapse occuring in the brain, a flower growing. The way the sound interacts. Im sure you'll agree on liking those things, seeing as you're being lies upon this dependence. Thats what I think, and im sure you can respect that if im to respect your opinion.

Whoever slapped that label on this magnificent band have a completely misguided perception of music. I will admit, this song is not the proper one to introduce you to Sigur Ros. Listen to Hoppipolla, Svefn -g- englar, Njosnavelin, Gong, or Glosoli. Once you've heard those, I dare you to come back and say the same thing.
