Black metal is labeled as Black Metal because the musicians who started black metal as we know it were highly influenced by King Diamond, Venom, Mercyful Fate etc. This doesn't mean they're in the same subgenre.

Go ahead and call it '1st wave black metal'. In truth, it's simply heavy metal. Don't dilute the King by placing him in a category riddled with music that sounds nothing like his.

Hey King dimond is the father of black metal.Mercyful Fate was and still is the most original blackmetal ever.Just because he dosn't growl and the guitars arent copying the same erratic chord progessions that all the other bands do dosn't make it not black metal.This song on the other hand is as you say Theatrical.But King dimond(the singer) is black metal as shit because of Mercyfull Fate era and started corps paint trend too.
