  • These poor people with their flood properties. If they want to sell and get out they will get investors to buy and if they have insurance they can walk away with some decent cash. Flood Properties is a place where they can sell damaged houses without paying commission. Some real estate people put their stuff on there too. Investors are looking to buy these homes for cash!! Hope this helps!

  • In 1993, my home- which was across the street from this river- went untouched. This year it went ten blocks beyond that. I live in the city and as crazy as this may sound to some of you -even though I live in Iowa-and I have for more than twenty years- many of us don't know crap about farms!

  • bitch!

  • "People who lived 10 blocks from the river never imagined" that their homes would be flooded. Really? Have these people never heard of a floodplain? Rivers flood. Period. Wetlands (aka swamps) are nature's answer. They act like sponges, soaking up excess water and providing habitat for wildlife. Unfortunately, the environmental ethic in Iowa is weak. Over 90% of Iowa's wetlands have been drained for agriculture and development. So where else is the water supposed to go?

  • They never imagined it because it's never happened before. It hasn't even come close to happening before.

  • dude I was sooo scared. I was effected by it....

  • Minionuup....hopefully you do to.

  • GO BLUE

  • learn how to spell you worthless fuckwit. People are suffering.

  • why dont u come as refugees to my country(australia)in exchange for your land.

as the old saying says be refugees forever ha ha

  • you'll be affected by this too dumbass!

  • i live in iowa and the whole state of iowa has flooding everywhere. i live right on the mississippi and every river is flooded here. crops are ruined which will have a shock affect to the rest of the country at the end of summer. everything from gas to food will go up even more, so ya'll can talk shit as much as you want but it will be affecting you soon too. afterall we have the most corn crop in the U.S. right here in the heart of the U.S.

  • why dont u come as refugees to my country(australia)in exchange for your land.

as the old saying says be refugees forever ha ha lol

  • no thanks, I'm gonna pass on that one.

  • I am sad to see this happen. I lived this with Katrina and their is No" quick fix. Katrina has been called many things such as to many Blacks, to many Gays and so on, in one City. That has nothing to do with what has happened anywhere. Get a life! Stop the fighting and help your God's brothers and sisters. FEMA will help, but you have got to make it happen. Trust me on this. God bless all of you. Your life has just changed forever!

  • I dont get FEMA or the government, uhhm. say 3 years ago we had hurricane katrina in mississippi, louisiana, and alabama. considering that most of the people were black, they didnt recieve half as much attention of this iowa, considering the flooding in iowa is nowhere near hurricane katrina. really pisses me off. alabama and miss. are fixed, but louisiana isnt fixed and as soon as tere is just a little flood somewhere else they completely abandon them and do that. they could at least balance em

  • Do not even dare to compare us with YOU, you racist son of B.! Also don't think that FEMA or government is doing much to help people in Iowa all broken promises! I live in Iowa waterloo that also flooded not as bad as Cedar Rapid but just to put this in you stupid racist ass that in my town live as much African American as white people!!!

  • Hey disy...

This is what we herd after katrina from the likes of you:

where is the national guard waaaaah.....where is the helicopters waaaah......george bush waaaaaah........its cuz were black waaaaaah.

Now sit back and watch REAl americans recover from a disaster w/o being breast fed the whole way by thier government. You bitch.

  • Ya i live in iowa and downtown cedar rapids is terrible. I took a lot of pics. My dads house is flooded so badly! Cars are floating all over the streets!

  • This video is of Cedar Rapids, not Iowa City as is misrepresented by the title. Two different cities, two different rivers. Iowa City has not yet crested but has already surpassed the levels in 1993 and is expected to be just as bad as Cedar Rapids.

  • The mixup is mostly due to this story being an Associated Press story. Middle america is a pest to them, and not getting the names of the towns correct even during a huge catastrophe like this one is expected.

  • To cdltpx, some of these house aren't even in the flood plain!! They don't even have flood insurance because the chance of them flooding was less then 0.2%. And as far as the where is FEMA comment, they are there. I am not sure where but they are being housed in a hotel in my town of Mt. Pleasant, 45 minutes south of Iowa city and 1-1/2 hours south of Cedar Rapids.

  • Should not have built in a flood zone, they are getting pay back for past sins, they had warning why didn't they do something, they should have prepared,

These are all things said of New Orleans and more all are not true some are but time and unforeseen occurrence befall all of us I just hope this ends better for anyone affected and you keep your spirits up I feel for your loss please learn from this be prepared for anything no matter where you live. Things are just things you will be ok.

  • wholey man! its as high as that stop sighn.

  • looks like biloxi MS after Hurricane KAtrina.

  • Yeah, biloxi, the place where people banned together and helped eachother instead of looting and crying like in NO. The chhocolate city.

  • well this type of calamity is what sprung the scenery for the movie Gummo.I think they need to do Gummo 2 off this. Maybe this time them kids will be huntin rats with slingshots and selling them to Burger kIng !

  • Hopefully you get cancer.

  • That's a possibility

  • 1 year and a half after Katrina, my family and I had a new in a new area. We didn't wait for anyone to help us. I can't acount for the ones that did, but it is almost 3 years, so they should have made some attempt to help themselves. My old house was beyond repair to me, I didn't want to deal with it. Buying a new house was the best solution for us, so here we are. I still get the "racist" bit now and then because I am "white". It wasn't MY fault the levees' failed.

  • You are one of the few.

  • i am white too go chop ur head punk

  • Where's FEMA???

  • Geeze! Our town was nothing to this. Thats so sad!

  • Damn
