  • i dont know...these guys look a lot more energetic and stable to alot of mthai/kickboxers i seen...

  • Sapete mica come si chiamano i primi due lottatori?!?!?

  • what's with the leotards man?

  • This looks pretty lame kind of look like little kids fighting I like boxing for my hands and mui thai for my feet this is lame because u have a point system shit in boxing points are good knock his ass out win come on france their the biggest pussies everybody knows that

  • @xchucky714x You don't know shit. First of all Savate kicks are just as devastating if not more than Muay Thai and they are better at boxing than most Muay Thai fighters and other kickboxers. If you think the French are pussies, then I recommend you research Marcel Bigeard, considered by many military official including Patreus to be the best paratrooper of the 20th Century.

  • @xchucky714x You have no idea what you are talking about-Savate fighter kick much faster than Muay Thai fighters and kick just as hard as Muay Thai fighters(with some of their sweeps hitting harder than Muay Thai!) and Savate fighter are just as good with boxing skills as they are at kicking in fact Savateurs are probably the fastest and hardest punchers of all kickboxing styles.Savateurs have superior boxing skills to other kickboxing styles including Muay Thai(Muay Thai punch like pussies)!

  • @xchucky714x So you don't know that the point system is only the start of competition. For seasoned competitors it's a full contact rule set similar to that of kickboxing. Nor can you actually spell muay thai right. Yet you do find yourself qualified to judge on the effectiveness? Come back when you've actually started training.

  • wow,why can`t ppl just watch and respect another style of fighting than JUST their own/the one they like? One can allways pick up something here and something there to make yourself a more efficient fighter. And in the end,it`s just sport.I don`t go down the street wondering who i can hurt.(G 3 krav maga) (sorry for the bad english. Not my 1st language)

  • look up savate vs muay thai-ramon dekkers vs pennachio

  • looks pretty cool.. but i don't think they'd have much success against a Muay Thai fighter...

  • i just started savate!!! its like kickboxing with shoes! it fucking hurts! and i love it hahaha

  • madapina I will started in Savate in same months...

  • @madapina

    it fucking hurts?

  • Francois est très intelligent!!!!!!!!!!¨¨

  • Oh, so this is my fighting technique a bit! i could take anyone of you down that has anything bad to even say with martial arts in its true form.... I think and obviously! yeah.

  • because its French, the yanks have to bag it automatically.

Thats the brainwashed right wing tossers they are.

  • @Frankster177 Wow, way to stereotype. I'm American, I love Savate, and I'm fortunate enough to even have a teacher reasonably nearby.

  • I'm sure 'queer' people the world over are glad that there are martial artist gurus like you out there who can inform them exactly which fighting is for them with such sound and well informed judgements such as '...is like the "PowerPuffGirls" of fighting...'

who teaches you Jiu jitsu? Next time you enter your dojo, ask the man to teach you some respect!

  • well gooverrider feel free to contact some savate fighters and film and post your results you cocky friggin' windbag!

  • You attacked Savate as a horrible fighting style when its widely respected and feared as one of the most deadly and technical martial arts styles int he world. I'd like to see you take on any Savateur in a street fight. You'd be systematically destroyed by them and you wouldn't land a single punch. Don't talk you ignorant prick.

  • Jiu Jitsu artists will train their hearts and manners.

  • so you prefer more close contact with men.. and that is not gay. ahahhah please!

  • wow, you're fucking ridiculous.

jiu jitsu has proven itself to be one of the most efficient martial arts, but if you can't get your opponent to the ground you're useless. i bet you've done 2 classes of jiujitsu and now you consider yourself a martial artist. savateurs are designed to move extremely well, and the second you go in for a grappling move you'll get a kick to the face.

look up savate vs sumo on youtube, you'll see.

    ignorant douchebag.

  • @monkeykorns look up why nobody is using savate in mma. i agree with criticisms, not with insults, and i don't think savate is the best martial art - imho

  • @Grooverider504

Under which set of rules will you "devour a Savate fighter in moments"? The savate guy would have to be crazy to fight in a jujitsu competition.

  • Grooverider504 you are stupid and ignorant. They are different sports you fool. Don't confuse thinks. The most of the modern ju jitzu systems are only for sport not for real selfdefense. I prefer 1000 times Savate who is a ''dirty'' streetfighting system than the stupid sport groundfighting....

Savate is one of the most efficient martial arts in the world... Study better and speak than...

  • That was one of the best stylistic examples of Savate I have seen.

  • y cuando pelean??

  • I'm very interested in Savate, it seems like a great fighting art. Unfortunatly its nigh on impossible to find it anywhere in Australia. And pity the outfits are so gay too.

  • There is a good amount of Savate here in Oz. Check out the savataustraliadotcom website for starters.

  • Bridgeman Savate, which is claimed to be more similar to the original style than the kickboxing version, is based in Australia...

  • My kickboxing instructor described Savate as "kickboxing without the Thai influence" and as "Almost like ballet."

It's quite incredible to watch--the fighters truly are graceful, and it's very interesting how quickly they kick without any real telegraphing.

Also, crazy flexibility I will never possess.

  • gradeschool catfight

  • what is this bs dont they know how to throw a fng kick

  • this may cause a backlash but what are the main differences if there are ones between savate and kickboxing

  • kickboxing... as in k-1 allows knees. this guys only kick each other old school. (i think thats the main thing)

  • upper body is like traditional boxing istead of kick boxing where they throw round hooks likegirls. there is also deadly kicks in savate

  • those kick and punch combinations are sick

  • weak and ineffective

  • Nice vid

  • if you don't remember, it was a savatour who made it to the finals of ufc 1.

  • ufc 1?!?!? living in the past much?? we are close to what, ufc99 soon? Savate needs to reinvent themselves as a sport. Badly!

  • Not really, what Savate needs is better marketing. Savate is pretty rare outside of France and the result is a pretty small talent pool. It is also an amateur sport so people that want to go pro have to do so under muay thai or K1 rules.

Savate is what it is. There have been savateurs successfully competing in regular kickboxing matches and there are also kickboxers competing in savate matches. That shows that, despite their differences due to ruleset, they have many things in common.

  • Well that i can agree with.

  • Savate is French nacional sport...that is problem with it...becouse of that it is rare...

  • Savate hasn't left France. end of story ; )

  • tell that to Nic Saignac and Salem Assli, they both teach savate in the LA area. I have trained with both of them. I have been studying savate since 1985 here in California.

  • ufc the first season where its a competition to get into the ufc...not actual UFC1 (event)

  • There is no power in savate. I did muay thai and boxing and I can tell you rigght now, there is almost no power behind savate

  • Cool, do you have any basis for this claim?

  • Yeah, boxing.

  • So, in your boxing knowledge, how does savate lack power? I'm watching this video, and I'm seeing plenty of power in both their kicks and punches. Why are there knockouts in this video if savateurs don't have power?

  • when you kick the lead foot should be at a 45 degree angle (miniumum) to get max torque into the kick so that you are using your hips, obliques, abs and back and when you punch...well, that would take a while to explain. There is a reason that they call boxing a science. There is a lot that goes into throwing incredible punches and boxing.

  • Really? Then at 1:50 the guy's throwing pretty much what you're talking about, throwing his whole body into the punch. Have you actually taken savate? Most of, if not all savate schools will teach the boxing portion much like American boxing.

  • You dont know anything about boxing so this conversation is pointless. You should go to a real boxing gym and learn the sweet science. By the sounds of it you have never sparred with a boxer. So if your style is Savate, go to a boxing gym and learn how to punch from those guys. The least it could do is make you more quick, devastating and intense for your art. Sorry, I dont mean disrespect, but if you knew the sweet science you would agree.

  • I don't do savate, butI have done muay thai, and I am currently doing kyokushin karate. It just bothers me that people who have no knowledge about other arts see fit to criticize it based on what they see on the internet.

  • Cool story bro.

  • you are dead wrong. I have studied both muay thai and savate since 1985. Savate has speed, and power, and very fast combos. They can make it very tough for a straight thai boxer. Go study savate somewhere, you will change your mind.

  • i love savate but god damn i hate those dresses...never again will i wear these :)

  • Thank for your racist comment Sanchezo953 poor shit.

  • say that in the middle of france and you would be dead by the morning, jest aside, you would probably get your ass kicked by a mediocre savatour, so shut the fuck up about things you dont know shit about, moron

  • i bet you would, cowards like you probably carry a gun

  • it's to jumpy....

    wasting energy...

  • getting hit is stupid when you can move and do better counter attacks, that what savate is all about,

  • too much leg movement can cause to make your balance weak...

  • your balance must be very poor, if you walk around in the ring its easy to see witch leg has the weight on it, "jumping" around makes you neutral, anything can come, a kick or a punch, and walking on the heels make you slow

  • lets see...

    square stance vs jumpy stance...

i bet mma square stance could kick an ass of a jumpy one

  • take a look at enoch effah, and the fight between decker and Pennachio, this clip is old.........

  • a squared up stance leaves a lot of targets available to your opponent.

While jumping makes you look like a damn idiot, it does keep you in motion, and that's the important part. The hardest thing to detect about someone in motion is more motion, and that extra motion if used right can put them in range of kicking or punching your lights out quicker than you realize. Granted, there are better ways of staying in motion than jumping, but it's still way better than showing off all the good targets.

  • i ve got a question. can you do savate or even american kickboxing by just punching? or would judges in savate frown on that when they're scoring points?

  • i don't know in kickboxing, but in Savate, you must use kicks, if you don't, the refere and the judges can give you a warning (two point in less), in the Savate, to the third warning you be disqualify, so, don't forget, use your kicks^^

  • they fight like girls

  • Professionals can be rather dangerous... I saw this guy on Human Weapon, I wouldn't want to mess with him.. :S

  • I'd rather learn how to actually fight.

  • where i train ( muay thai ) their are some savate guys at high level. And everytime u kick them they kick u back 3 times. But i think in Full contact they would not be abled to do that

  • Man I would love to train in Muay Thai. There aren't any gyms near me that I know of. It looks real powerful. This vid looks like they're taking turns kicking each other. Not impressed.

  • yah.,,muay thai or a normal kickboxing is much more practical...and you dont need that flashy kicking moves so much,...you cannot use that in a real life situations where ther is no rules or regulations :)

  • yea man. That's my main concern. I want to be able to defend myself in a street fight not look like a fool.

  • lol conchobhar - you are so riiiiiight ... i see many people on a saturday night out in a fight outside a club bouncing around like a headless chicken giving kicks out that are about as powerful as a 10 year olds lol. yes savate does look deadly as fuck lol.......

  • you guys can't compare this to muay thai, as dnbdan said, any descent muay tai practitioner will snmash the shit out of these bouncy frog men in tight pants lol. and seriously Conchobhar's comment made me laugh :-)

  • WOW THEY HIT SO HARD :-D

  • Don't be sarcastic, they do hit hard smartass. Plus they use reinforced shoes

  • yeah.. these powerful strikes must really hurt... xD

  • shut up beaner. Sanchezo? Isn't that spanish for "dick taped to leg"? : D

  • not eing funny but this looks bollocks. savate looks like a fanny kickboxing sport. any descent muay tai practitioner will snmash the shit out of these bouncy frog men

  • your right on the money.

ive done muay thai for years and ive trained some guys with a savate background.

the good points are that they have good fitness as they throw more strikes and a few of their kicks cn be adapted for a street use.

however they dont hit hard enough, they stand too square on to their opponent making them vulnerable to strikes, and theres not enough use of hands.

hands will get you out of anything...........

  • Savate is for real street fighters and Muay Thai is for ffffaaaaaaaags and teenagers who think its really cool and deadly.

  • title of the song?? please

  • Motley Crue "knock em' dead"

  • How funny is FIS savate these days. They lost all imagination -"HOW TO BLUFF ITS MEMBERS".

Mouth full of AGFIS - words known for almost more than 10 years - are coming out in this way:

Come on to Serbia to join this huge event called combat savate - because AGFIS is watching us. There should be nearly 30 countries. Funny.

  • francois pinnachio

  • They should pad the feet just as they pad the fists.

Feet deliver up to 4 times the power.

  • Never really saw the difference between savate and American kick boxing, just goes to show how much I know I guess.

  • great savate!

  • its a good stand up self defense art...nice tune too.........

  • i don't favor savate but dammit i challenge anyone on this board to TRY and play with this kind of fighter. you would get the SHnackers beat out of you for reals!!!

non stop a** kickin' i don't even care if you some fake mma player. you gonna eat some kicks and blows to that face before you GNP.

much respect to this sport and its players

  • Muy Thai is better.

  • lisichka265, congratulations reaching a new level of stupidity. If you had a little real fighting spirit you wouldn't say such a dumb fucking thing and acknowledge no art is better then the other.

  • Of course there ar better marcial arts than others, but is is the fighter who determines that.

  • i agree with dangkoen, martial arts cannot be compared in a 'which is better' way.

I personally favor Muay Thai, but that doesn't mean it's better.

also you spelt Muay Thai wrong.

  • I think it is stupid to declare any style is "better" than another.

I am more interested in the differences. It seems to me that the Savate stance is bouncier and the movements rounder than both Karate and Thai boxing. Fair statement?

  • i have seen better bxfs clips, but i must say this video had great movement. Some great low kicks, expecially when they count. Savate is no joke, but i think the unitard does give people the wrong impression, lol.

  • Try going a couple rounds with one of those guys. Your lungs and your entire body would hurt, if you were still standing. Don't be fooled, it has finesse, but it is a very powerful art.

  • Wow that looks guy. Did either of these guys land a powerfull shot?

  • i thought pro wrestling was the gayest thing id ever see but i was terribly mistaken.

  • khem they fight in reinforced shoes...

  • does that repeal anything i said?

  • muay thai rules

  • Мужик из СССР - просто красавчег!

  • y don't they just wear shorts like MT guys? those spandex stuff they're wearing make them look like gays..

  • this is a kind of gay..

  • like thai box

  • Nice costumes...I'm mildly embarassed to have minor french heritage. That was laughable. Oh yeah I'm a keyboard warrior, but I've also practiced TKD, Karate, JJ and Aikido, some boxing (about a decade all up). Those kicks looked dance-like and not as much efficient power delivery as eastern MAs. Hand skills were outstanding...ly bad.

  • ... "Those kicks looked dance-like"

This coming from the guy who does Aikido?

  • ignorant... with all your martial arts background you must of been trained by some world class assholes. you sure didnt pick up any respect and you are braggin about you skills on the net. do some research before you start doggin on this. savate is brutal and im sure your decade of trainin would go out the window when you are curled up in a ball because your kidney is ruptured from one of their dance-like kicks

  • there's no denying organ pain.

  • you sir are epic FAIL

  • haha.....it's motley crue....and song called ''knock 'em dead kid''

  • Wow you can tell that is is a foot fighting method, they throw pretty crappy puches.

  • keyboard warrior you can say anything

  • I'd like to think that 3 and a half years of karate makes me more than a keyboard warior. you cant tell me that this sad excuse for punching is good?

  • Savate is a very tough sport, tougher than it looks espeicaly with tipped shoes that can be used for striking...I sparred once with Daniel Dube, Mr Savate in the States...very devastating under appareciated art...

  • haw haw haw ....

  • By the way... what is the difference between french boxing (savate) and kick boxing? I've also heard of karate contact. You have gloves and everything so doesn't seem like karate at all to me.

  • Savate is french and they wear hard shoes. It's very different from kick boxing. Savate is a tougher sport. The shoes make it very different and enable further distance from the opponent. You also don't need to kick so hard to hurt, which makes it faster. Because the shoe hurts so much they learn how to move away from the kicks better than in muay thai or kick boxing. Hand techniques are same as in normal boxing. Very demanding.

  • Savate looks pretty cool, Id like to give it a try.

  • Capoeira is still a martial art, and Capoeira itself was always a mix of martial arts and dancing. The original form wasn't called "capoeira" at all as capoeira is a Native American word and not an African one. Capoeira refers to a fighting bird of some sort in which fought ferociously. The dancing became involved to disguise the martial art from people who wanted to stop the art from being practiced.

  • Savate is a good martial art and a good sport for competition.

  • the song's from motley crue, knock'em dead kid

  • Yes you are right Bato, capoeira is more a mix of a dance and martial art nowdays, but believe me acapoeristas can be very armefull the moment he fights, I saw my techer do it..not for show

  • savate and capoeira are the best and most spectacular combat sports among all.

  • where the song of the video?

  • SAVATE the BEST, kick boxing shit

  • Did those guys just leave a dance studio or figure skating competition before fighting? Damn those outfits don't help the whole gay french stereotype

  • Hahaha. You're right. Their costumes are almost as gay as wrestler suits.

As an american, do you feel that american sitcoms help the stupid, fat and bigoted american stereotype?

  • Why do you assume every rude person is American?

I don't have to make any stereotypes about where you come from to know you're bigoted.

  • thanks for all you who commented on this videos about THE FIGHTS ... KEEP them coming....

  • hahaha non sense!

  • Stephen Hawking is english

  • Let's not forget that this is only kickboxing aspect of savate, some savate gyms also learn self-defence oriented savate, where you also learn wrestling (throws to the ground and fighting on the ground).

  • Ukrainian have in Boyovyy Hopak ( ukrainian cossacks martial art ) have that also and one more aspect - fighting and moving in crounch.

    It's alsoacrobatic like savate.

  • When it comes to kicks, I think Savate is better because obviously in a real fight, you'd most likely be wearing shoes, where Savate emphasizes kicking with. Let's not forget the advantages of knee and elbows in Muay Thai, though.

At least they're both great arts with realistic, full-contact training.

  • Most people on the street wear normal shoes which aren't going to pad your toes too well compared to the shoes they wear in savate. I'd rather just kick with my shins. Oh and throw the knees, elbows, and punches I train in muay thai and boxing.

  • In Boyovyy Hopak (ukrainian martial art ) we fight in shoes. Someone fight in high cossaks boots!!! ( and someone in trainers like me :-) ) .

  • respect

  • Why do they have to fight in spandex?

  • meh....muay thai all the way

  • Big boys , i'm french , i pracyice savate , and sure i can tell you the differences between it and kickboxing : in savate , you wear shoes , you cannot give knee and tibia strikes , and you are only alloowed to give punches by the top of your glove.

Green glove is the first grade you can win.

  • I like many martial arts but I don't know much about savate. Someone at my BJJ club used to do it and gained a green glove and that was the first time i actually knew what it was. Can someone tell me the difference between savate and kickboxing?

  • Savate allows the use of shoes. Basically you can kick with the toe from distance and it can knock out too. Kicks are different(more distance), less hard power is needed because of the hard toe shoes. That's why the kicks may seem light.

Savate's background is in an old French kicking sport, american kickboxing's background is in karate. Hence kicking technique and and targets are different.

  • This video is at least 15 years old.

    Tall guy has USSR t-shirt

  • I didn't say savate is not good...i only refered to the fact that some people think that only their marcial art is good and ignore all the others, and imo, thats not a goss way of thinking.

Dont get me wrong, i like savate :)

  • First of all, Savate originates from the street. So, saying it's no good for self-defense is ridiculous (obviously you wouldn't do high kicks on the street though). Second, Savate is taught all over the world and is also taught in many Jeet Kune Do curriculums.

  • For those who dont understand french, this guy just said that savate is much more effective than all the other styles of kickboxing mostly because of their leg work...

I guess his opinion has nothing to do with him being french(haha)

    funny guy...

  • Not quite, actually, what he said was that the kicks in Savate are more effective than in Kickboxing or Thai. Not exactly the same, you must agree...

  • I almost forgot! There is one cool thing I like about Savate! The one thing I do like about Savate, though, is that some forms of Savate, such as Savate Classique and Savate Dance de Rue salles, teach you how to use a sword cane! Sword canes are cool, but will get you thrown in the slammer.

  • haha. that is true...

  • Forget about any of the multitude of problems in using Savate as a self-defense system, because the difficulty you will have in finding someone to teach it to you is problem enough. If you are in western Europe and happen to find a school that does teach the modern sportive form of Savate, check it out just for curiosity sake, but for heaven's sake please realize that it is not

actual self-defense that will be effective in a

    real life fight-for-your-life situation.

  • No different from other normal kick boxing or san shou..Nothing special. Actually everything is the same, punches and kick
