Yes! "Best in class towing, Seating for seven, and best in class driving range." Yes! THESE are the MAIN things you look for in a racing car that would be at the race track. Dodge certainly is bringing back racing heritage.... /sarcasm "Performance, evidently, is no longer a priority." Fail.
@RussianAmericanArms And you're comprehending just what they want you to. Good job at being played. You make it so easy for them. Thankfully with Chrysler failing, the majority of the people clearly don't fall for it either.
@RussianAmericanArms Vague much? They have 4 cars in the top ten? Top ten of what? Go ahead and post a link to prove it and show that you aren't just saying that. Only watched it so I could show some friends the stupid commercial I saw. ; ) Oh, Chrysler isn't failing though. They only went under and was bought out by Mercedes, and then dropped because they were still crap, and then bought by Fiat.
@GrimR Saw it in Motor Trend- Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Charger and the Dodge Durango. Daimler pretty much robbed Chrysler of a brighter future until now, thats the main reason they went under, troll.
@RussianAmericanArms Motor Trend, top 10 sellers in U.S. "Ford F-Series, Chevy Silverado, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Nissan Altima, Ford Fusion, Chevy Malibu, Hyundai Sonata." Care to try again? Of course not. You can't back up your words. Robbed Chrysler? Who do you think put Chrysler in the position they were in? Nobody to blame but themselves for going under. Be a fanboy all you want, they still bring up the rear, regardless.
@GrimR Yea they bring up the rear, but Id take them over any other, any day. And thats definitely not the 2012 top 10 is it? I not doing my research, Im going based on the 2012 Motor Trend 2012 Top Ten (unofficial), there are more cars coming out but for now this is how its going to stand.
@RussianAmericanArms I'm with you on that I don't car what some nerd that works for a "magizine" company says dodge just has WAY more SPIRT than other "car" companies. DODGE FOREVER!!!! GOD BLESS AMERICA
In 2011, Dodge contacted the current owner and asked to use the track for an advertisement. After eleven days of filming for the Dodge Durango, filming wrapped up and the commercial was eventually aired. Although the current owner had placed a fresh coat of paint over the walls, Dodge "aged" the walls and even bought a local car for $2,000 and crashed it to add realism to the scenes. In the commercial, a sign stated that it was the Brixton Motor Speedway.
@FrozenCarnitas I know the auto industry. I know the media brainwashing. I know your comments. Connect the dots and it is a simple conclusion to draw.
I'm sorry but I used to love the old Dodge Durango's but I hate the hatchback/crossover look. I like the more square look on it. Just my opinion, though I do like the power that Dodge is putting into there vehicles unlike others, the more power the better.
@DSTROYURFACE The # 49 car looks lke a Ford Fairlane and the #86 car looks like a 70-81 Camaro/Firebird. Imports were not used on racetracks like this!
Well to set all the stories straight. It is the Byron Middle Ga Speedway. It is located east of I-75 on Hwy 49. The #49 Ford Galaxie was built and driven by Bob White from Gray (Jones Co.) and the # 86 was built by Donnie Brown from Gray(Jones Co) and driven by Dennis McDaniel from Macon Ga. The last race was held in November of 1984. It was also the site for the Atlanta Pop Festival . Lot of cherished memories. It was a NASCAR sanctioned track. If only the track was still open
You got to be kidding me. Performance has steadily been coming back for years. Ford GT and Shelby? Chevy Corvette's Z06 at 500 horses? Cadillac CSV? And Dodge puts up the fricking Durango? Then at the end of the add lay claims to passenger seating, and range? The marketing people at Dodge are complete idiots. No wonder they needed the governments help.
Its a real raceway, but it is in Georgia. Brixton is not its real name. I believe it is Middle Georgia Raceway. It closed back in the 70s I think. Could be wrong but that is what I've found.
@StanOfGB lol nope that one is in georgia. beside my buddies house haha. he was hidin the bushes viddin it. and they caught him and made him go home ha.
@StanOfGB this race track is in GA i live not far from it. it closed in the 80s or 90s i think. i used to be big though. i hear some of the old guys talkin about richard petty and some other famous drivers from back in the day racin there. i was closed because they where makeing illegal liquer at the track and sellin it
Brixton Motor Speedway? Please... this is Middle Georgia Raceway. Way to make the walls look aged... and the car you guys junked to add more effect... priceless (sarcasm).
@doggertdog First of all, Hyundai is a korean company, and although their past automobiles were not the greatest produced, in the past decade they have come a long way, rivaling other more luxurious brands like Lexus and Acura. Honda and Toyota both produce cars which are better constructed and more reliable than any dodge from the past 20 or even 30 years. Furthermore, Dodge is by far the worst of the 3 large American brands, despite their styling being in the right place. Example: Challenger
@localfuckingized All that matters is what's new. Dodge and Chrysler are changing for the better. You can like your asian cars and we can like our American cars. Fact is, Dodge is pulling through finally and making quality cars with stylish looks and awesome performance. Example: Challenger. I have still yet to see any asian car that has made me turn my head. Call me biased or whatever you want but it's the truth.
@swalte6325 While the Challenger is a fine example of Dodge's new styling, making an all around attractive car, the performance is not what anyone would call "awesome", in the true definition of the word. Compared to the new 5.0 Mustang or even a new Camaro it lags behind significantly. I do agree however, that it is the best looking of the three, despite it being a bloated pile of turds that can't turn. :)
I went to plenty of races growing up here...wish it was still operating...Saw Jody Ridley and others race here. Also, portions of Richard Pryor's movie, "Greased Lightening" was filmed here!
well its only ok if you feed them peanuts first, then you kill them! i think also im going to do a genocide on all gays too, which meants ill have to kill myself X_X
This was filmed at the old Middle Georgia Speedway. You have see it before if you went to the Byron Pop Festival 1969, Richard Pryor's film Greased Lightning had scenes filmed there.
Best comercial so far, very tue about todays market. People just need to understand quality and performance better, and dodge is delivering in a big way. And somebody needs to find out what the deal is with that superbird/daytona (i cant tell, too far gone) 15 secs in, that thing could win first prize at next years Chrysler nationals in Carlisle for the barnfinds section. Could be worth up to 400k
It's the same thing as the new jeep. This should be interesting these commercials give people false sense that these have power should be funny to race them with my STi
heyy i would like to now about tht red car about 15sec in the vid were is tht cuz my friends dad raced and tht maches the pics of it if yhu could get back too me on tht one i would like it , thanks
i was a little confused about the name on the walls of the track but found out that the track sure is Middle Georgia Raceway and dodge agreed to paint over the walls when they were done. good commercial
@CrashJSTest well sucks for ford and chevy. good thing neither drove a dodge. BTW Honda is way worse than toyota. I hate honda more. wiggers drive hondas.
can anyone from dodge tell me where this car is? the old orange car in the video was my dad's & the 49 car was a friend of ours. we had wondered what happened to it. we grew up @ the racetrack & seeing this car brings back many memories. i can see my dad's name on the side of the car right after the tree passes. thanks.
Yeah wasn't too many K cars running the tracks back in the day! Face it folks Chrysler spent two decades building unionized shit and I'm still not convinced enough to buy one. Oh before you start, I was a big Mopar fan back in the day(pre 1974) but realism set in!
jesus people if you want to go fast you dont buy an SUV its simple as that and therefore they should not be made to go fast but to be roomy and comfortable.
I like Michael C Hall's voiceover; but let's think about this commercial. There isn't a paucity of muscle and sporty cars these days. Camaro, Mustang, Challenger/Charger, Corvette. M3, 1M, M5. S-, E-, C-, CLS-, CL, SLS AMG models. S4, S5, R8. XKR, XFR... and on and on. We are in the last golden age of big engines, lots of horses and tons of torque. And plenty of SUVs tout "sport." BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Porsche all have fairly sporty SUVs in the market. Even Ford made a more "sporty" Edge.
Glad to find out what track this was... I thought it was Wilkesboro. But they are right, a lot of tracks have been closing over the years, and as far as dirt tracks go, when a 1/2 mile closes, you're lucky to see a 3/8 mile bult to replace it. And forget a 1 mile track. Now, if Dodge cared about racing such as this, they'd build some coil spring beefy frame cars. Chargers and Challengers could be used on the local tracks some day. But they have struts bolted to sheet metal I'm sure.
Oh, one more thing, hope to see other commercials from the track. I know at least a couple other Dodge models were out there. There was a Journey doing J-Turns out there on the staight...
I think Hooters bought the track in '96 or so, hoping to bring racing back. The surrounding "neighborhoods" threw a fit about it though. Hello, you bought a trailer home next to a racetrack! Racing could only bring your values up!!! Would have been nice to see some short track racing in the area.
I love Dodge. It seems like they are the only company left putting out reliable, strong, powerful vehicles that are FUN to drive. I love driving my Intrepid, my brother just got a 2011 RAM, it's hands down the best pickup on the road. The challeger and charger bring back memories of the glory days. USA!
Awesome. Dodge has learned NOTHING! Everyone else on the planet knows the SUV is NOT a sports car, its a gas guzzling TRUCK. Get with the reprogram, Dodgy.
@oompacabra Where in the ad did they call it a sports CAR?All they said was that the S in SUV stands for sport, as in SPORT utility vehicle,so they're right. The point they're trying to make is most SUVs today are not sporty and they're trying to change that.I realize it's a truck but who says trucks can't be sporty too.
I used to watch races here in the 70's with my folks. Absolutely, love this track. Went back to see MCR this summer and almost didn't get to see because they were filming this commercial. Everything worked out in the end, though.
GREAT Commercial - love the old racetrack - filmed in Byron Ga at the Middle Georgia Speedway with its interesting history . I grew up watching Saturday night races with my parents here in the 70's. Track opened in 66 & stayed open til 84. In 67 a moonshine still was found in operation under turn 3 at the race track. In 70 Middle Georgia PoP (Pot) Festival invaded Byron and was called the Woodstock that never got reported. Look it up - COOL. Last use was this year for Racers Reunion.
i love these new series of commercials. i love how they came from the dirt and grass. real cool, but i woulda preferred some more flashy Durangos? maybe a red R/T?
well that is by far the best SUV commercial that i have seen! the Jeep ones are also freaking amazing! Way to go Chrysler! show them what is real, and show the others how it is done!
I love these commercials and I agree Dodge vehicles are animals, we still have our 1999 Dodge Durango and its still a beast compared to most SUVs on the road.
dodge needs to make a viper ACR commercial..this would've been an awesome setting for it..an empty dead race track and then you hear that deep v10 roaring in the background as it comes around to the straight away...or at least a charger.
This was filmed in Byron GA at the Middle Ga Raceway

Oh, one more thing, hope to see other commercials from the track. I know at least a couple other Dodge models were out there. There was a Journey doing J-Turns out there on the staight...

I think Hooters bought the track in '96 or so, hoping to bring racing back. The surrounding "neighborhoods" threw a fit about it though. Hello, you bought a trailer home next to a racetrack! Racing could only bring your values up!!! Would have been nice to see some short track racing in the area.

I saw many races at the ol Middle Ga Raceway, good to see something rolling around it again.
NASCAR history: 4 of Richard Petty's 200 record NASCAR wins were at this racetrack.

Get with the reprogram, Dodgy.
oompacabra 7 months ago
@oompacabra Where in the ad did they call it a sports CAR?All they said was that the S in SUV stands for sport, as in SPORT utility vehicle,so they're right. The point they're trying to make is most SUVs today are not sporty and they're trying to change that.I realize it's a truck but who says trucks can't be sporty too.

@oompacabra And what does "S" stand for in SUV?

I used to watch races here in the 70's with my folks. Absolutely, love this track. Went back to see MCR this summer and almost didn't get to see because they were filming this commercial. Everything worked out in the end, though.

SUV's are for off roading, not for racing.
