I remember this song got a lot of airplay back in early 1993 and I haven't heard this on the radio since the mid 90s, too bad this group faded into obscurity soon afterwards
I had a crush on two girls in this group plus the song was great. I love the hairstyles and the dress....girls back in the day could dress and not look like sluts and look hott!
You know what, one Indonesian entertainment news always use this song as the background, especially at the closing. I believe that the producer must be the big fan of this girl band. I love this video because I like the way one of them wear the baseball hat.
I used to like these ladies when I was about 13-14...even had a crush on Kimberly (the redhead)!
Of course, they were an anachronism of sorts, a pop girl-group in a time when it was grunge and alterna-metal that ruled the music scene. If BK had came out about 3 years either way of when they did, they probably might have been more successful.
Carp is not the word to decribe to day,s so called music except for celtic women group. Garbage with a captiol G is more fitting for today,s so callecd music
Jesus Fucking Christ, what a goddamn bullshit generation of retarded shitheads and talentless fucks!

It did hit #1 on the Radio/Records Pop chart--US pop radio did indeed play it a lot early '93--I think rather low singles (and consequently albums) sales made this only hit #18 on Billboard's HOT 100.

This song came out in 1993? Thats the year music went downhill, and it still hasn't recovered. This songs sounds too good to be from 93. Sounds like something from the late 80's. Heard the song a few times on the radio, but never saw the video till tonight.
@BILLMCG1958 I totally agree that this song sounds like it came out earlier than 1993, to me this song sounds more 1990-91 rather than 1993, I know there was a major shift in a musical change sometime around 1991-92, I thought music started to really slide downhill around the time when the boy bands became huge in the late 1990s, the 90s did seem to slightly go downhill as the decade progressed but didn't really get bad until around 1997 or so
Apparently all the girls hated Johnna because she got to do much of the lead vocals. Johnna said recently that the other three stopped talking to her offstage, and then they started ignoring her ONSTAGE as well. That must have been awkward!
5 out of 5 stars. Wonderful song. Bring back the 80s and early 90s please. This is real music, unlike the crap today. I agree, 2000s music is junk compared to 80s-early 90s.
why does it feel like the early 90's was just yesterday, but then i see a video like this and it looks like it was 20 years ago?! because it was, i guess. so sad.... at 32, i'm finally old enough to know what my mom was talking about :P
When his came out on the radio, I thought it was Donna Summer. This was a very popular song in the dance clubs at the time. Early 90s still had some good dance music. Now music is just awful....in my opinion.
@Puggalug You have a good ear. i forgot all about She Moves and checked it out. I remember thinking at the time it sounded like another song but could never figure it out. Probably never dawned on me that it sounded like That's What Love Can Do because by '97 that song had already been long vanished from the airwaves
This was a 90's version of an early 80's girl group called the Flirts, with a extra person. Expose was stuck in the middle during the late 80's and became the most successful.
I am still mystified as to why this didnt do well in the UK - great song and a slightly different stock aitken waterman flavour than their other stuff.
everything about how women portrayed themselves back then is SOOO much better than today, flirty, sophisticated, playful and stylish, plus all the girls in this group look completely different and is an individual, now a days everyone looks like they're from the same clone factory. I miss back then.
@satyran Absolutely right! I remember being a teenage in 90s, me and my girlfriends were dressing in different clothes. Nobody wanted to look the same, everybody had their own personality ans style. Plus, we didn't know about botox face and silicon boobs that time, everybody was natural and fresh, thank God! I'm glad I had my teenage years in the 90s, the best times!!!
Johnna had the looks (stunningly beautiful but unusual) and a great voice -- she should have been a huge star! More effort should have been put into her solo album.
@Sunshine1986Girl i agree 100% with you. i actually searched this song without success as if it was kylie's for some time before realizing it was perfomed by somebody else. lol + cheers
love This song. Takes me back to the 90's It was released in 1991, but did not achieve popularity until it was re-released in 1993. By then, however, the SAW sound was at it's end. But Americans didn't get tired of the SAW sound as quickly as the people in the UK did, because SAW wasn't as big in the US as they were in the UK. Still, it reminds me of the days hanging out with my four girlfriends in school. They were just friends, nothing sexual. And I'm a guy.
This song is so beautyful! I love her! Reminds me when i was 7 years old (i'm 24 now) and my neighbur or my older sister used to play it on stereo sound in the saturdays mornings...the 90's FUCKIN RULES!! PLEASE, BRING IT BACK!!
i wonder whatever happen to the group? did they disband? did they go back to modeling? i heard at the time they were supermodels, but models are supposed to be grossly underweight and this group appear healthy
i love the video and the song. it's quite simple by todays standards but it has a certiain appeal to it due to the combination pllus the lyrics are awesome and so true. That;s what love can do,...
Again, I can't get over how good this song is. It's a perfectly beautiful little pop/dance song. I love it. WHO did the arrangement? Does anyone know?
The arrangement of this was done by Stock, Aikman & Waterman from the UK. They were responsible for huge hits behind Rick Astley, Donna Summer, Jason Donovan, Bananarama's "I Heard A Rumour" and that period of time.
This song should have been a massive hit. It is a bit dated now, yes, but hook-wise, beat-wise, it's just plain fun. Th music business is cruel and it's too bad these girls didn't go to higher heights. A video from that era, yes, but the song still has enough punch to be contemporary. Loved it then, love it now.
nope, this song has a broader depth in tune, just because its from the 90's. gives you hell sounds basic and blunt. the only thing catchy about that song is when the guy keeps repeating hell to attract attention and the depth of their guitar. i even think the songs i make are a lot better than gives you hell (especially nick jonas girl). sorry for disagreeing with you though.
@jeffee50 you are right, they have great tunes, but don't you think this has a better depth on the music side? gives you hell might be aimed for lyrical listeners and have better lyrics though but i like this song better.
FYI. Pete Waterman has released every Boy Krazy song, including rare 12" versions, alternative mixes, and unreleased songs on iTunes - available worldwide.
this is probably my all time fave song , uhm and like the previous poster i had the single , plus i had the cd LOl...good times with bad bad (very bad) boys ...cheers BK !! love from Canada
i agree with there being no hip hop in song therefore it was a good song. however the spice girls DID do something great. everyone in the mid 90's was saying "im alternative" "im grunge" and the public was sick of the alternative / grunge sound. the spice girls thankfully came in with there throwback look and brought pop music back, thus putting the final bullet in the head of the grunge era
this was a great song. interesting here, 4 years before the spice girls. again, great song but i think they lacked the charisma that put the spicies over
Oh, and don't use the links provided above to those two points in the song I mentioned. They pop you in at the wrong time. Just put forth the effort and check yourself! :)
One of my all time favorite songs. I remember when it came out, and just now I'm watching the video for the first time. Good lord the blonde is smokin' hot!
I just heard this at a LA grocery store the other day. I told them it took me back to jr. high in the late 80s. I guess I was off by a couple years. I don't think they faired so well because they sound like a mix of Kylie, Bananarama and Expose. Great pop song though!
If I remember correctly, I'm thinking circa '92/'93. I think I had the cassette single (I'm dating myself, I know). They had to be played a little bit on US stations for me to hear it and go out and buy it. KIIS FM in Los Angeles used to play this type of dance/Top 40/Pop music when Rick Dees was the DJ, before they got Ryan Seadouche and switched to all that rap/hip hop crap!
Oddly enough, I listened to a station that would play this song more in 2002 than it did when it was originally released. It's how I came to like the song years after it was released. It's cool to know that a video for it existed.
Jhoanna, the vocalist of this band had been rumored before that she was hooked on drugs.,just breaking it to you guys....
I wonder where are they now? i don't hear songs from them anymore,, too bad, tsk tsk tsk... just like the spice girls, their bonding lasted only a few years of fame.....that's life anyway!!
I remember this song got a lot of airplay back in early 1993 and I haven't heard this on the radio since the mid 90s, too bad this group faded into obscurity soon afterwards

nope, this song has a broader depth in tune, just because its from the 90's. gives you hell sounds basic and blunt. the only thing catchy about that song is when the guy keeps repeating hell to attract attention and the depth of their guitar. i even think the songs i make are a lot better than gives you hell (especially nick jonas girl). sorry for disagreeing with you though.
judenihalmusic 2 years ago
@jeffee50 you are right, they have great tunes, but don't you think this has a better depth on the music side? gives you hell might be aimed for lyrical listeners and have better lyrics though but i like this song better.

I agree. I think this song will stand the test of time a little better than Gives You Hell

i agree with there being no hip hop in song therefore it was a good song. however the spice girls DID do something great. everyone in the mid 90's was saying "im alternative" "im grunge" and the public was sick of the alternative / grunge sound. the spice girls thankfully came in with there throwback look and brought pop music back, thus putting the final bullet in the head of the grunge era

They made great use of the cam shots, makes em look sharp.

this was a great song. interesting here, 4 years before the spice girls. again, great song but i think they lacked the charisma that put the spicies over

Haha, I LOVE this song! Haven't heard it in years! Gots to get up and dance now! :D Too bad this version is not on iTunes....lame.
The blonde (lead singer) looks absolutely gorgeous at 1:02 and 1:14....almost Marilyn Monroe-ish. :)

Oh, and don't use the links provided above to those two points in the song I mentioned. They pop you in at the wrong time. Just put forth the effort and check yourself! :)

I remembered that little riff @ 1:40, didn't know what song it came from until I heard this on the radio today.

When was this like 1991 or 1992!
78th78th 2 years ago
I think it was '92. I remember hearing this on 102.7 KIIS-FM in L.A., during Rick Dees in the morning. As far as I remember, it was '92.

really? why? what happened?
always makes me think what happens to stars/singers when they are no longer in the business.

I just heard this at a LA grocery store the other day. I told them it took me back to jr. high in the late 80s. I guess I was off by a couple years. I don't think they faired so well because they sound like a mix of Kylie, Bananarama and Expose. Great pop song though!
nothingbetter2du 2 years ago
If I remember correctly, I'm thinking circa '92/'93. I think I had the cassette single (I'm dating myself, I know). They had to be played a little bit on US stations for me to hear it and go out and buy it. KIIS FM in Los Angeles used to play this type of dance/Top 40/Pop music when Rick Dees was the DJ, before they got Ryan Seadouche and switched to all that rap/hip hop crap!
larbear36 2 years ago 4
Oddly enough, I listened to a station that would play this song more in 2002 than it did when it was originally released. It's how I came to like the song years after it was released. It's cool to know that a video for it existed.

Jhoanna, the vocalist of this band had been rumored before that she was hooked on drugs.,just breaking it to you guys....
I wonder where are they now? i don't hear songs from them anymore,, too bad, tsk tsk tsk... just like the spice girls, their bonding lasted only a few years of fame.....that's life anyway!!
