  • 8.08 minutes of the best music

  • נראה לי ששמעתי את קולה של עופרה חזה..

  • I want to come to one fucking youtube page where people aren't arguing about goddamn fucking musical taste. Just one. We have such WAR in our hearts!! Why must we always be RIGHT? Please, if you find this place I seek, show it to me!!

  • @hiraethchild I feel the same! And I think I've actually found that place on youtube where there's no war on musical taste - it's right above the comments section.

  • @hiraethchild it's called death.

  • @AlchemicalDavid - I was in the Black Swan in the late 80's too. I'm trying to get in touch with a guy called Jake, who used to take endless photographs of us. At the time I thought, I wish he'd fukc off with that camera. Now I would love to see those images; he had more vision that I could ever have had at that time. Do you happen to know him? Don't usually join in with Youtube conversations, but it might be worth a go.

    .

  • @TheSteelo888 Sorry for the delay, mate. I seem to have missed your q. I do remember a guy called Jake. The one I remember worked behind the bar on a Saturday and had blond, crimped hair. I'm afraid I don't know his number.

  • Miss the days.

  • The best Goth non goth band of its time LOL!!!!

  • Amazin..

  • whooaaaa!!! this song bring back memories....

  • simply wonderful!!!

  • great sound

  • blah blah blah pre goth.. like souixie, the cure ,bauhaus, joy division, ministry, skinny puppy.. etc etc.. great 8o's new wave/punk for those feeling electronic and dark. <---period

  • @keithkaos

I'd never even heard the term 'goth' when these guys were strong in Leeds. We might have worn black and had crimped hair but that was it. We drank a lot and got on well with the punks in the Black Swan, Wake.

God, I wish it was 1987 again :P

  • @AlchemicalDavid leeds i love their rygby team

  • @lovelylilyy100 rugby not rygby

  • @AlchemicalDavid and nobody our age did, it was darkness with the scent of light for me that days...

  • @Drideonem That's 'cos we were half expecting a nuclear war :D

  • @AlchemicalDavid 1992 for me, very similar, never heard term "goth" either, and with punks always good relations :D, got lots of ol' punk friends :)

  • labels are bad, and people that only like a certain type of music are boring

  • @xINVISIGOTHx I kind of agree but disagree with you that labels are bad. On the one hand I think it's fine if people want to express themselves with labels. They can be useful sometimes. Unfortunately, they can also be bad, thanks to people who hate on you just because of your musical taste, sexual orientation, religion, clothing, or whatever. I am not one to judge if people who like only one type of music are boring. Having said that, I feel lucky to have a wide range of taste in music.

  • @xINVISIGOTHx By the way, you say that labels are bad, but you have the word 'goth' in your username?!

  • @fishyfingersparty "invisigoth" is the name of a character from a tv show. No... I was not labeling myself as an invisible goth... -_-

  • @xINVISIGOTHx Labels are for poseurs who want to belong.

  • I love this song. I do I do I do.

  • new favorite band

  • @lovelylilyy100 awww so sweet when almost 30 years old bands become new favorites for someone :) :)

  • wonderful song

  • cool :)

  • who cares its just kewl music.... besides andrew said he didnt want to be thought of as goth or placed in a sub genre its just music..kewl dark music that goth ppl happen to like

  • Guys guys so many people talking about being goth? This is New Wave, not goth. It's a music genre and subculture that evolved from punk, and out of this new wave subculture came what we know gothic and emo. Please know your music history if you comment about it.

  • @brammeke55 New wave? LMFAO. It's goth, get over it.

  • @AngelsNcorsets I love how people make judgement on what they think is goth or new wave. I have never heard til now that Sisters of Mercy is anything but goth. But to each their own. I seriously know my history on goth music and maybe you should do a little more research as you so nicely put it. it's old school goth definitely but not new wave. I think of the 80's bands like billy idol or the eurythmics, just examples. Just because a band started out in the late 80's doesn't make it new wave.

  • @AngelsNcorsets Well the audience in 1986 when i saw them were all Goths we were only 3 with dyed Blonde hair and got knockbacked for looking out of place True story-Stage crew let us in through stage on a guest list coo. FACT So what defines a band then. Pistols-Punk why because punks watched them? So im afraid them Cult and those other jokers Mission were all Goths New Model Armt were in a league of their own.Alice and TOL are good but thats bout it.

  • @brammeke55 ...... ur right this isnt goth although it has goth themes in the music.. with that said emo has nothing to do with goth..emo is a depressing pop punk...this is not new wave in fact if u go to a cd store this is under heavy metal....so u need to learn wat ur talking about b4 u comment

  • ...remembering EXIT.....

  • Absolut geiler Song

  • mit dem hab ich mal im lehmitz gesoffen

ich hab aber auch mal mit steve ignorant von crass gesoffen, in so fern war eldritch kein highlight

  • MY LIVE - DARK LIKE S.O.M.

  • This song is my childhood. Love my goth family haha

  • @Ujimaflipy wow....your lucky...my parents wont let me be goth because they dont understand the beauty of it.....jeez......all i want is the clothes....and they wont even let me have that......they wont even let me wear all black....and as a matter of fact.....they took all the black shirts out of my closet.......

  • @TheLastAscension Awww, when you get older, rebel against them as much as you can! But all that matters the music and who you know you are.

  • @Ujimaflipy huuu.....yeah....ill try.....its like i have to hide my inner goth from them just to appreciate it.....and yeah i know.....my dad thinks just because im 14 that i dont know who i am....but i think thats ridiculous...and my mom thinks ALL goths are miserable and thats why she wont let me..and that all goths are devil worshipers.....but i try to tell her that they arent......but she wont listen........nobody listens to me.......

  • @TheLastAscension

I have a similar problem. I live with my grandma and she thinks that I'm following a crowd. I'm not. I'm just being who I want to be: me. She hates me wearing all black, she says my eyeliner is ugly and it took her three months to get used to my purple hair and she still won't let me try a different colour. (I want black with red or purple streaks)

It shouldn't matter what you look like, so long as you're being yourself. I don't want approval, only tolerance.

    Keep fighting.

  • @GoaGreena jeez......i wish i could keep fighting.......my dad wont even let me grow my hair out....and my mom wont let me express myself....i dont know what the big deal is......ive told them "why wont you guys let me express myself"....and my mom says its bad parenting...and my is just an a#@hole.....

  • @TheLastAscension just.. dont cut your hair? It wont hurt them.. just be a good kid at anything else i guess.

Do take care of it good though, you dont wanna look like a bum^^

  • @GoaGreena yeah i even told them...."thats who i want to be" and they said was......"oh so you want to be a devil worshiper?".....and i said "not all goths are devil worshipers"......and they said people are going to think you are....and all i said was people are going to judge me no matter how i dress.....and my mom and dad wont let me grow nor dye my hair red......its so freaking retarded.......i hate them.....

  • @TheLastAscension

Devil worshiping? Aye, that's the most out-dated stereotypical resopnce there is. Goth is not a religion, It's a protest. A protest against what general society views as beauty. Goth is challenging that and showing that you don't need to be afraid of the dark, that in fact, the dark can be quite beautiful. And you should be aloud to have whatever colour hair you want, it's your hair, not theirs. Bad parentng is not letting your kids be themselves.

  • @GoaGreena YES.....thank you.....but my dad says that when im 18 and out of his house i can do whatever i want....and yeah i know thats bad parenting i freaking try to tell them that and they just wont listen....the only time i can express myself is either on here or at school and when i draw i cant tell them about my personal feelings or anything because all they do is put every thing i say down......especially my dad.....

  • @TheLastAscension all parents want their kids to grow up and be good little saints, so to see you going goth is probably not what they had in mind. however, they should let you express yourself how you like, yes they may feed and clothe you but they shouldn't suppress your personality and choices. and its not other people thinking of you as a satanist, its your parents being embarrassed to be seen with you when people stare. all i can say is patience, moving out was the best thing i ever did...

  • @Samael78 thnx dude....that helps...goth is just such a beautiful thing you know...im goth for many reasons 1 is that i love darkness 2 is because of the music ESPECIALLY the music....and 3 is because society just doesnt really make sence anymore and it really gets annoying...after a while...but my parents just...hate it...i dont know...but your wright about all those things...they cant control literally EVERYTHING i have...i mean kids should have freedoms you know?....

  • @TheLastAscension ... as I was finally able to be who I wanted. I'm older now and don't dress as extreme as I used to, so u will grow out of it, but it will also always be a part of who u are. Luckily I've a much better relationship now with them, we've all matured and can be adult about it. One thing I would say as an older dude is don't get tattoos on your forearms and don't stretch your ears. Not only will it hinder u getting a job in the future, but can u see urself at 60 with huge earlobes?

  • @TheLastAscension I understand what you mean. My mother is perfectly fine with my gothic attire. Well...I say fine, she occassionally suggests to me that I might want to return to "normality" one day. But my father and grandparents don't really approve of it. My grandmother constantly tells me I'm going to get beaten up if I stand out, which is when I tell her to stop being so silly and that I am capable of defending myself if I need to. But I say fight the good fight, they shouldn't stereotype!

  • WoW... Sisters brings back some great memories for me.

  • Bit gutted I missed this band at Sonisphere last week. Could not get anywhere near the tent they were playing in. Definatley this band should have been on the main stage.

  • omg i'm 17 again at RAFFLES night club in Wakey =O)))

  • @bucklemunki I know the feeling. I miss late 80s early 90s industrial clubbing.

    Those were the days.

  • @bucklemunki

haha, and I'm 17 again at Lapidarium night club in Zagreb, Croatia:D

    cheers!

  • I absolutely love the Sisters of Mercy. And I believe it was pure genius to have Ofra Haza in this song...great touch to the gothic theme of the band. Ofra Haza had the most beautiful voice that transcended language & culture & spoke to the soul. May her memory be eternal.

  • ja, aber warum kann es denn nicht richtig aussteuern?

  • this is what iron maiden inspired for the fear of the dark.

  • gebt mir meine Jugend zurück,die Zeit war so geil,

wie dieses Lied, werde es nie vergessen!

  • ha ich wusste doch das lexy & k.paul dieses riff in der fernsehturm irgendwo her geklaut haben.

  • @doriansmamma it`s actually Jewish

  • adoro essa musica mesmo naum tendo nascido nessa epoca

  • All what being a 90's goth was all about...

  • ah, what goth used to sound like. its so nice to get back to your roots sometimes... even if they are about 5 years older than i am

  • the ULTIMATE 1980's song ... so many souvenirs ....

  • i dont care i like it and OFFRA adds to the feel {even tho andy was a tit and she nevergot fully paid for it

  • @divisionmagus yu obviuosly have problems dude seek help and stop shouting insults at people and enjoy the music

  • stapedius of stupidus try my english :DDD

  • Pięknie. Czysta moc ;)

  • @divisionmagus

I doubt You know anything about romance...

And may I remind You that it was YOU who erratically complained about my level of english whereas it is YOU who obviously have no life, have to take drugs, have to fantasise about being a vampire and psychic, and thusly have a GREAT need of "getting a life" and keep bothering ME with your inane chatter here.

Btw there's a button on the left hand side of the keyboard marked "Caps Lock" try pressing it, just ONCE please. Now shoo troll!

  • @divisionmagus

Yes I'm the one who needs englishlessons... *laugh*

Dude, go take some englishlessons yourself, my english is so much better than yours it's kinda' funny to read your comments. =) And I HAVE a life, I don't have to pretend to be a vampire like YOU seem to... Go get a life Yourself matey. AND Don't comment anymore on peoples languageskills until You learn ATLEAST preschool level of english. Thanks for brightening my day. And "interesting women"? Paying a hooker is NOT a date! ^^

  • @divisionmagus

That's how a psychopathic idiot starts the daytime you mean... *sigh*

  • @doriansmamma

I'd say Ofra Haza wouldn't take it well to be called arabic... ;) Most jews tend not to like that overly much! =)

    Israeli's least of all...

Say "Middle Eastern Touch" instead, and You've nailed it... (They share alot of culture in the whole area, even if they rather kill You than admit it)

  • @Zathaghil Wrong. She was of Yemeni descent, which makes her more Arabic than any Arab out there in the rest of the ME, like the Levantine. Her religion doesn't matter in this (since does being Jewish constitute a race?). But you could call it Middle Eastern, since that is a bigger category and can include other ethnic groups in the ME like Persians, Kurds, Armenians, Chaldeans, Assyrians, etc., which produce similar tunes.

  • NOT the original version... Original is from the early 80ies without that crying Ofra Haza...

  • @doriansmamma we got over that long time ago and produced some music as a result...let's enjoy! ;)

  • 6 ppl dont feel the love or are numb

  • Good times...

  • Comment removed

  • love love lovee

  • Powerful tune... Andrew sure rocks... Ofra Haza gave the song the ultimate touch!!!

    R.I.P. Ofra Haza

  • RIP Ofra Haza

  • beautiful song, i love singing this AWESOME

  • THIS WAS WHEN MUSIC WAS GREAT

  • i love it!! i'm not even 16 but this kind of music is much better than this shit of today. i speak of: justin bieber, kesha etc. xD

  • @FullmetalSama ..sure,baby..

  • @FullmetalSama I'm glad you're young and you like this music but I find this kind of comments really childish. Does age matter when we talk about music? Don't take it as an insult is just that I'm quite fed up of reading this, sorry XD. Best whishes :D.

  • @FullmetalSama and who cares 'bout that? Been listening to the Sisters since I'm like... 4? And who gives a shit?

  • MRX 027 is the catalog number for the 1983 12" release of this ......

  • classic

  • fucking awesome

  • brilliant song....

  • alguien sabe donde se puede comprar o conseguir este disco?

Someone knows where it is possible to buy or to obtain this disc.?

  • awesome i love it very much

  • thereasa is fabulous

  • Not the original I danced to in the 80s but close - Goth and cool (most of the dance floor to ourselves) - the middle east bits are a later addition

  • @Taysidethistle if they had just bought the 12" you could have danced to This instead released in the same year.......

  • One of the great things about Sisters of Mercy is that they were simultaneously difficult in the extreme to classify (neither goth, nor industrial, nor... ) but yet how many bands who fall into those categories do not owe their musical education in some part to this incredible band?! Oustanding music, to say the least.

  • Supergeil.. awesome! And it's the LONG version *~*

  • Dumbass doriansmamma...thuis is NOT and ARABIC touch freak,,,Ofra Haza Was Jewish and she died of AIDS in the 90's...im not Jewish, but give it a break.......She is wonderful too........why dont you look her up too NAZI asshole!

  • Epic ♥

  • wasn't there a version without the womans noise? ô.O

  • @psypunk66 yes orrignal verstion but hard to find on you tube :(

  • @psypunk66 I have the original vinyl from the early 80's and it does not have any woman's voice on it. Ofra's voice is beautiful but it changes the emotional feeling of the song. The earlier version reminds you of the howling wind. It is rougher and has a very desolate sound which fits the lyrics.

  • @cobaltblueviolet would you maybe upload your version ? sounds very good.. thank you !

  • @MrGladiatorlgus Hello. I am currently technologically inept but am planning on getting some equipment to allow me to do this. I just listened to the original version last night and it is so good. This may take me quite some time.

  • I love this band, very good! This band saved my life !

  • I love this band, very good! This band saved my life!

  • το θεικοτερο κομματι που εχω ακουσει ποτε, καπως!!!!!!!!!!

  • Awfull.... Ofra Haza´s fxcking voice completely ruins this song. Don´t need some whining b!tch. Can some1 point me to the original extended version from the 80´s?

  • @SharkoonBln

    My thoughts exactly

  • @SharkoonBln I totally agree...

  • this version sucks

  • Erinnert mich an alte Zeiten, als ich noch in der Goth-Szene war :-)))
