    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • So, instead of making my own country... you seem to have made a nice place... I'll just move to your country.. :P

  • You should've shown us the flah with the dicks on it

  • You know the monarch isn't really that expensive to run

  • @Cheshirecat55 Not from a public spending perspective, no. Doesn't mean its not a needless expensive (and morally objectionable too).

  • @LatumWay When compared to other spending on top of the money they bring in for tourism, the expenses can be compared to city excess funds. Expenditures for national level strictly cultural and aesthetic things, like say, statues and landmarks. There's no doubt the Monarch WAS a symbol of cultural repression, but they're now mainly political icons. The monarch is harmless, and compared to other useless celebrity icons the western world has, they have a meaning for the country.

  • @Cheshirecat55 1. The idea that the monarchy brings in any substantive amount of money from tourism because they are a monarchy is a myth.

    2. The expenses AREN'T city access funds. Its money to pay for one family to live a life of luxury.

    3. The monarchy IS NOT harmless, especially not particular royal family members like Prince Charles, known for his pernicious meddling in the democratic process.

    4. Any meaning gleaned from the existence of monarchy is that of elitism and subjugation.

  • @LatumWay 1 - When compared to estates, like castles and the like, in other countries that were formally run by other royal families. They receive drastically less tourism money than the United Kingdom. This is because here, they're still used by the monarch. They're living relics that still have

2 - Lets say for a second the money the crown lands that the UK government receives is less than what they spend, a lot of the money goes towards maintaining estates and buildings, not just living

  • @Cheshirecat55 1. Correlation does not imply causation.

    2. Maintaining the houses is a part of living. Living in luxury.

  • @LatumWay 1 - I don't think you've been to Westminster lately. Besides the handful of structures, such as stonehenge, what tourism hotspots do you think people go to? Castles, crown lands, all sorts of living artefacts. These generate more revenue then other tourism spots.

2 - There are many structures that the royal family owns that are not just for living. Is living in luxury a bad thing? If they pay back more than they take, what's the issue with them living in luxury?

  • @LatumWay @Cheshirecat55 3 - The monarch has no political power except for approving, already preapproved acts passed by parliament. They have a veto power that they have not used since the 1800s. Lobbyists have more political power than the monarch, and they're an actual danger.

4 - This is a matter of opinion, whether you view it as subjugation or cultural identity is simply up to the person who has the opinion. However, just food for thought. Do they not have the same identity as politicians?

  • @Cheshirecat55 3. There are many manifestations of the power of the royals. Royal assent, Orders in Council, Statutory Instruments etc. The power of the Monarch has lead to dismissal of governments in the Commonwealth, and in hung parliaments, there is a chance of the monarch choosing the Prime Minister. These are formal powers. The informal influence of the monarchy is felt even more.

  • @LatumWay These are all exceptionally "what if" scenarios. Can you give me examples of these actually happening?

  • @Cheshirecat55 And frankly, I don't care if some of the powers are unlikely to be used. The fact that they have it anyway is bad enough.

  • @Cheshirecat55 4. No.

  • You're very smart brother...

  • dude anyone can play pretend... your territory does not even exist! all i wanna do is make a country thats like 20 square miles where i can live with like 30 to 50 people and grow vegetables and marijuana! how do i do that?!

  • My sign I mean

  • where the fuck is the Nightwish cover? that sounded funny

  • and... video response complete. Damn, youtube takes forever

  • I would own a giant patch of land and say "GO WILD :3"

    It would be called, Anarchania.

  • You put yor country way to close to the american super power latum, sadly that means you would have been subject to american invasions, and constant civil wars. Maybe the south indian ocean would have been better spot

  • Creating land in which an individual dwells entails a perception of others rights . The more this extension is developed .. the more " secure " the land becomes , and the less likely of a need for other governing authorities .

    Thats my take :)

  • Large tropical landmasses in the middle of the ocean are typically dessert, just saying.

  • @WillGo7 and yes, that was a pun.

  • I love the implicit rejection of ethnic diversity in this video. Funny how that doesn't reflect in your other political views whatsoever, even though you DO clearly see it as an idealised situation.

  • @CitizenOccidens I think that's very unfair. I decided to base my country on a homogeneous nation for the purposes of this exercise and because, as I said in the video several times, I didn't want to arbitrarily create ethnic/linguistic/cultural division as it would have massive implications for the history of my nation which I wanted to remain undefined for the sake of simplicity and non-bias.

  • @LatumWay You might not like what the Queen stands for mate, but the very idea of what they represent elevates Britain incalculably in the eyes of the world. Just ask all your American subscribers :).

  • @EarlRegent And what exactly does she represent?

  • @LatumWay Beautiful people like you. The Queen is testimony to British civilisation and global contribution; she is the embodiment of the British character and legacy; she is the symbol of unity, hope, and aspirations of all the people of these isles; she represents all of our strengths and non of our weaknesses; she is the very essence of our image and sovereignty. This is my opinion and I am a mixed race person even. Should tell you that the reach of HM is far indeed.

  • @EarlRegent The Queen was born into a monarchical family, that is doted on hand and foot, paid for by the taxes from people like me.

The Queen does not represent me in the slightest. She knows absolutely nothing about the life that I, and other's like me, have led.

If that were the case, she probably wouldn't have tried to use State Poverty Fund grants meant for low-income families to lower the cost of the obscene heating bills for Buckingham Palace.

  • @LatumWay That's not fair mate! Any head of state of a Western Nation has privileges that most people do not. Don't you feel the British people's comfort level with a person born and bred to fulfil that role over a practical lottery winner(i.e Prime Ministers)? Do you really want a President Blair or Cameron? They would be living in Buckingham Palace too you know. The tax pounds that go to the Queen are constantly being made more efficient and do not forget the revenue they generate from tourism.

  • @EarlRegent Don't fool yourself. To the outside world, the Queen represents a play on democracy that doesn't care whether the people agree with it or not.

  • @NMRA No she does not! That's a false statement sir. Take a survey in any US state and see how people feel about The Queen Of The UK specifically.

  • @EarlRegent looked for one, couldn't find one. I'm sure I can give it to you,

    [disclaimer: guesswork]

while 90% don't care about what government you have, 8% think you're crazy to allow it and 2% fantasize about being a member. 50% of people see the word monarchy as loaded word with negative connotations but not as bad as despotism, 15% see it as just as bad as despotism, 35% see it as just a word.

I found out that 70% of Canada don't want your monarchy. That should be telling, shouldn't it?

  • @NMRA Ahg! You are Irish. 1)Those figures are completely made up(in regards to Canada) - take it from someone who has lived there for 6 years. 70% of Canadians are not against the Royal family; that is a load of bullocks. Canada is probably the most Monarchy friendly country on Earth. 2) The internal figures(i.e inside the UK) are over 70%. 3)You have not answered the questions about the fact that there is no democratic drawback by having the institution the way it is today.

  • @EarlRegent scared? Lol!

I don't care about your monarchy to hate it. I should make that clear. The most hated head of state in your history here was Cromwell, who was a republican. I kind of liked George V, too. So I'm not a "republican" by every definition, though I am by some. I'm just disagreeing because *drum roll* I just plain old think you're wrong.

google "British royals fascinate Canadians, even francophones" and if you don't want to read the whole thing, ctrl+f "69"

  • @NMRA Japan has a monarchy too by the way; a country you admire it appears.

  • @EarlRegent I do prefer the Japanese empire to your kingdom, to be honest. This isn't just because I like Japan, as I wasn't always sure what to think of the empirial family. Let's just say I don't like the idea of someone inheriting a nuclear power ;)

  • @NMRA Well see, that is just an irrational bias. The Japanese Royals and the British Royals are not so distinct in function that you would highly favour one over the other. It's just cherry picking here. So, for absolute clarity; are you saying that 1)70% of Canadians are against the Queen? If that's what you are saying then there is little point in me carrying on.It's no different from saying the sky is purple. 2)The Monarchy impedes democracy in the UK? If so, please explain.

  • @EarlRegent they are extremely distinct. There's nothing similar about them.

69% of Canadians want a Canadian head of state. That's where the instructions I gave you in the other comment lead. Roughly 50-55% are in favour of disconnecting from the democracy. You can look at polls yourself. They don't feel very strongly about it, but I couldn't find polls supporting the monarchy

  • @EarlRegent it doesn't right now, but it has the power to and you know it does. The Japanese imperial family do not have the power to disrupt democracy.

  • @NMRA You are aware that the Japanese(including their Imperial family) are very race minded right? To the point of strong xenophobia.

  • @EarlRegent :D glad you brought that up. And it is SO funny. After WWI the Japanese tried to introduce a racial equality bill into the league of nations and the country which led the opposition was yours. Where's this xenophobia? They let themselves have a racial equality bill anyway, and rather than deporting Japanese Jews at Hitler's request they imported 25000 from Europe to save them. They wanted 50K but couldn't get that far. They were going to give them their own country too but they lost

  • @NMRA NO NO NO! *Rolling my sleeves up* Hehe! Your idolisation of that Empire has blinded you to the fact that the Jews they were trying to save was after their defeat! A defeated enemy always plays the goodly, morally sound party. They were bloody allies with Nazis Germany and now they are the saviour of the Jews? GIVE ME A BREAK MATE! They almost devoured the whole of Asia and murdered tons of Chinese.

  • @EarlRegent that's not true. You're just making assumptions. Their alliance with Germany in WWII was much more akin to a trade agreement. You'll notice they did not declare war on any of Germany's enemies and Germany never declared war on any of Japan's. I'm pretty well read on WWII which precedes my interest in Japanese culture. If you actually do your homework, you'll find out Japan had always been trying to save the Jews from Germany, keeping to their 1919 equality bill.

  • @NMRA If that happened in London, we would all go mad! I would have my picket made overnight!

  • @NMRA You are ill informed Sir. Your knowledge base is not completely sound. Japan did Attack an allied country and Japan was an ally to Nazis Germany in the sense that military co-operation was on the table as the war would have proceeded. You are talking about a past law that I explained to you before. How many equality measures has Britain taken? Why don't you go visit Tokyo right now and report back to me how many establishments don't allow other races in them. Please!

  • @EarlRegent I know how many equality measures Britain took. In the last 50 years. Japan attacked no countries which were at war with Germany. Though it attacked a few which later declared war on Germany. That's a big difference.

Despite what rumours you might hear, you'd actually be hard pressed to find a segregated establishment in any Japanese city. Most places that do were illegal in the first place, such as brothels. So, literally, finding them will be the problem ;P

  • @NMRA OK I CANNOT LET YOU GET AWAY WITH THE NOTION THAT A LOT OF JAPANESE ESTABLISHMENT'S DISCRIMINATE ON RACE! My cousin lives in Osaka so don't go there! You only need check all the youtube channels of foreigners living in Japan from all over the world for you to get to the truth. You are completely wrong on this sir! Even on the underground, they do not sit next to foreigners. Even the Japanese admit this. Yes, technically it;s illegal but the police do not enforce it. You want proof Sir?

  • @EarlRegent I've spent a lot of time in Japan myself, I'm subbed to most JVloggers

  • @NMRA IT'S WIDESPREAD! WIDESPREAD!

  • @EarlRegent It's really, really, really, really hard to find. I looked while I was there, expecting what we both read about.

On the other hand, I did once get a 100 yen discount on curry for being foreign. Girlfriend was real pissed off ;)

  • @EarlRegent also, you should note Japan's helping Jews escape Germany preceded world war two, so not after they lost.

  • @NMRA Next you are going to tell me 7-% of Australians are against the Monarchy, even after you should know that they voted on it and the Monarchy stays. Secondly, how could anyone with a brain think that a country would be 70% against anything and for the governments to call for a vote? Your figures are asinine.

  • 70% of Australians I mean

  • for the governments to not call for a vote I mean. Goodness, my typos are getting bad.

  • @EarlRegent don't worry about it

  • @NMRA So how does HM The Queen have the power to affect democracy? Please explain.

  • @NMRA Furthermore, 1)The vast majority of Brits want the Monarchy to remain so what undemocratic elements are you on about? 2)The Queen has no power and is just a figure head. What in God's name is your problem with having a figure head that is admired by the people serving symbolically?

  • @EarlRegent the queen has power. Surely you know this. She has to approve bills, the prime minister and the make up of parliament and can just say no to doing any of those things.

  • @NMRA LOL! You don't mean that do you? These are now ceremonial tasks that she has no choice but to approve. Any person who thinks she can decide not to approve a Prime Minister or sign a Bill is wishfully thinking. The government owns the Family. That's the reality and you know it!

  • @EarlRegent nothing is wrong with that, we just don't fawn over her outside of the UK like you said before.

  • @CitizenOccidens Neither homogeneous nor heterogeneous societies can be described as 'ideal'. They are just situations which arise for a number of reasons and sometimes require a different approach to governing. You made it sound like I was advocating something far more sinister.

  • @CitizenOccidens No, you see it as an idealised situation and are quick to project in on him. 1)He could not be bothered to create the complex ethnic composition and 2)Possibly did not want to exclude any groups, so it was just easier for this project. Simple as that.

  • My country would be called.. Deutschland.. and it would be in the place of modern day Germany. And France. Heh, heh.

  • What about centicameralism?

So you'll be a judicious Jacob?

    "Secular

    "Unitary

    "Democracy

    "Republic

    "Bicameral parliament

"With large swaths obscured by a giant top hat, monocle, moustache and wine glass"

  • your ideal country sounds a shit ton like mine.

  • Press 7 repeatedly.

  • Latumia: kind of like Canada but with a better climate!

  • No flag; no country! Those are the rules I just made up. (Eddie Izzard)

  • Sorry, wouldn't let me post a link

  • There's a website that you can actually make your own country. You make decisions that effect outcome of your state. It's kind of awesome.

    It's called nation states.com

  • How would you sew a flag with shadows?

  • @karakzanreal FIGURE IT OUT

  • @karakzanreal 3D flags are all the rage now, Dincha know?

  • THERE ARE NO LINKS IN THE DESCRIPTION YOU R TARD.

  • @Roriniho Links to what?

  • @LatumWay I don't know, it just said there would be some in the video. I FEEL BETRAYED.

  • @Roriniho Ahhhh yeah, that was my fault. Should really have just said 'more info in the description'. I don't have any links. I think I mentioned links as a force of habit.

  • @LatumWay It's okay. You are forgiven. x

  • *invades, wins, nukes and then goes home*

    nice holiday

  • I think pot, prostitution, gambling should all be legal. No income tax, no army, a health service but only if the medicine can be bought as generics on the internet. A government that meets two weeks a year and the president is chosen by lottery.

  • @meotaku2 good luck. you'll need it.

  • I don't think I need to make my own country. I'll just migrate to Latumia.

  • I'd like to make an island shaped like a giant dick, and then see if google maps is going to blur out my island.

  • The government of my country would depend completely on the people living therein. If the people thought exactly the same way I do, it would be a democracy. If, however, the people there were like most people on earth, then it would have to be an absolute monarchy, with the monarch either being me or following my every whim.

  • Jesus Jacob, come up with something original! en.wikipedia(DOT)org/wiki/How_to_Start_Your_Own_Country

  • HA! Take THAT Finnish fantasy metal!

Are you going to speak a Creole dialect of English? Because if so SIGN ME UP.

  • at first it looked like he was masturbating.

  • Wait! I thought you said you didn't know much about politics. Yet you just gave me an education!

  • worldofgotha *com, we're making an entire planet of nations.. a bit more in depth but in the same spirit :-D

  • Latumia sounds like it would would be dry as fuck. Except around the edges

  • Sign me up, I want to live in that country. Pretty much the kind of country I would make since I'm from Notts...hate the damn monarchy too.

  • were you making fun of nightwish at the beginning? that confused me..... Anyway, enjoyable/interesting video.

  • Democracy? No religion? Prime Minister Jacob? Yeah, I could live there....

I don't think there's much point in creating my own country since it would pretty much be exactly like Latumia. Though, for a name I guess I'd call it.... Mielia (I can't think of anything better). The flag would be black with little white stars and a quarter of a big red star in the upper left corner. As for my landmass, smallish and beside Canada in the Pacific maybe.

  • I was one of the tricamerals :)

  • I remember doing this as a project in elementary school

  • As if an anarchy would ever work. Lol!

  • That's a very nice nation you have there... it would be a shame if something were to happen to it....

  • @drnekodr WHADAFUCK

  • @LatumWay

    SsssssssssSSSSSssssssssssssssss...

  • @drnekodr what is that supposed to mean?

  • My state:

Female clothing is to be banned, also no dogs! Yeah I may be against fashism but I'd go mad with power and become a ruthless dictator!

  • latumia looks like a pancreas lol

  • @borisovicinovski Not at all! More like a liver.

  • I see where you're comin from with the liver :D

  • I think LatumWay named more states than most Americans can. >_>

  • @Krow147 I can name all the states, and most of the state capitals.

  • @LatumWay That's not the point. I was making a statement about ignorance in America. Not about if people can really name them.

  • @LatumWay Can we make a planet?

  • @MacabreManifesto HELL YEAH.

  • @LatumWay I also mean, can we ALL put our countries on a map and play risk or some shit?

  • @MacabreManifesto Might be a bit difficult over the internet...

  • The bicameral system in The US was made as a compromise. It was invented at a time when states were far more powerful and meaningful than the federal government. High populous states wanted states with more people to have more votes (hence The House of Representatives) and low populous states, for fear of being bullied by the smaller states, desired a system where each state had an equal number of votes in the Legislature (hence The Senate)

  • @Krow147 I like to assume that a good majority of Americans can name all fifty states without giving it a second though....

  • @Bandaids4ever That's probably true. The statement was just a general statement about ignorance in America. It wasn't actually about if people could name states or not.

  • Comment removed

  • But...Latumia, Land of the Three Dicks sounds so epic.

  • So basically, Latumia is a country of boring homogeneous star trek fans placed there by the great Will Wright that earn their living selling handmade weaven baskets to other countries.

Actually that sound more original that what i any country I could think of.

  • SHOW US THE DICK FLAG

  • Before it was made that senators were elected, they were chosen by the government of each state. It was intended to give states more power, not rich people. Not to say the position wasn't bought.

  • @FederalistFilms The coolest video you've seen... like ever?

  • My ideal state is a deeply socialist republic with rigidly enforced bicameral parlementary republic system. Strongly secular, and large government. Rights of the people are enforced. One idea I have is that one of the houses of government can only be voted on by people who have graduated college.

  • @Gruegirl That might discriminate against people with say, severe learning disabilities like severe dyslexia etc.

  • @LatumWay While this is true, that's part of why it's bicameral. The problem I see lies less with the people who cannot be educated and more with the people who are not educated, who are more easily decieved and outright controlled by religious or business interests. By ensuring that some additional share of the political power is put in the hands of the knowledgable, without making it the sole holders of power, you make it more likely that the country will act in it's best interest.

  • Does Easyjet fly to Latumia yet?

  • Latumia would propably go to war with Rithland.

  • I just want Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland to unite under one flag.

  • @MikaelDryden Why?

  • I'll make this video tomorrow!

  • In England they have a catouis Kathy. In america we have a talky Kathy. cultural difference?

  • I will be the first one to go to you country to start rebellion. Free market anarchist all over the place. woot woot free state project style.

  • Exscluding xavier? idk lol

  • You forgot to mention what your national anthem would be. :P

  • @HonestMuhammad the rick roll?

  • FUCK the monarchy. That is all.

  • Moonistan, it's on the moon. Everyone must pay for their own oxygen. Miss a payment? No oxygen for you then. It's a hunter gatherer tribal society, state religion is great blue sky orb worship.

  • @n00bster101 Hahahahaha nice!

  • Can I be Latumia's Registrar for it's Chiropractic Licensing Board?? That way, I could decide what assholes can't emigrate and practice there. Also, the delivery of health care will be a cogwheel model with different primary care practitioners at the center for admission to ANY care. That way, the medics won't have a monopoly. We could have NPs, PAs, DCs, MDs in this 'port of entry', responsible for triaging patients to secondary and tertiary care, if needed. Team care, if you like.

  • @saxmanchiro *woooooosh*

  • @LatumWay Does this mean I have been 'elected' into my position? I promise to be ethical, fair and responsible.

  • @saxmanchiro Hmmmm... seems risky...

  • silly urls

  • come on, as long as you're in full-on geek mode, you need an esoteric regional language. advantages of appropriating zompist(dot)com/Le.htm:

    - annoying, untypeable characters

    - impossible for sane fuckers to learn

    - culturally, linguistically and geographically consistent with your chosen area: tropics & jaguars, (almeopedia(dot)com/Múr) shamanic spirit journeys, phonetic tones and all that bs

    - warrior princesses

could it possibly be more perfect? colonize &/or westernize the fuck out of them

  • i too love the NHS & the BBC :D

  • Endless war, bank bailouts and corporate welfare are all fine, but that monarchy is an example of state granted privilege! You're such a rebel :)

  • @evilsceptic Oh get you, mr. priorities...

  • Comment removed

  • Mine would be the brutal dictatorship of Landonia.

  • @DLandonCole Make it so...

  • 'I don't want authoritarianism, BUT YOU WILL HAVE DEMOCRACY.'

  • @SamSmellson HA! :D

  • MORE!! I WANT LATUMWAY TO CONTINUE THIS EPIC COUNTRY!!!

  • As Latumia is a democracy, don't you think that the decision to have or not to have a nationalised health care system (as good as that is) is for the elected parliament to make?

  • lol, I had to make a dystopian country in 12th Grade English class and make a travel brochure for it, so it was a country based upon one's knowledge of trivia and it was ruled by Alex Trebek. I think it was called Trivekia, but I don't remember that much about it, except that the rulers rode around on Segways.
