Just to clear everything up. All of The Beatles records were issued in stereo & mono in the sixties with the exception of Let It Be & Abbey Road which never received a mono issue. When the catalog was first issued on cd in 1987 the first four albums were presented in mono and the rest of the catalog in stereo.
Nothing was remixed for the first time for the 2009 issues as these were all original vintage sixties mixes w/ each box containing either the mono or stereo catalogs.
@stealth22a I bought one off ebay for $100 just last month and it turned out to be a bad bootleg - so I got my money back and will keep looking for one at a decent price
Favorite Beatles song(s)? Too hard to choose but i love in my life, while my guitar gently weeps revolution and much much more ha
Favorite Beatle? George Have you seen the movie "A Hard Day's Night"? Yeah it's one of my favorites Are you going to buy Rock Band or any/all of the remastered CDs? I have the ebatles rock band :) and still want to remastered CDs
My favorite song is I've Just Seen A Face, and my favorite album is Rubber Soul and then it goes, A Hard Day's Night, and The White Album.
I've fought with myself over having a favorite Beatle, I never could pick and I don't think I ever will but George, I love his humor and of course his music.
A Hard Day's night I have seen and also Help! I perfer A Hard Day's Night over Help! though.
People find it funny that I'm 18 and I LOVE The Beatles. Well keep laughing cuz my love ain't going nowhere.
Fun video mate. My favorite album is Magical Mystery Tour (I really think it's their most underrated album of them all) ANd my favorite song is Strawberry Fields Forever. And IF you're wondering about getting the Mono box set, go get it I just got mine and they sound phenomenal in Mono!
Jason, did you hear that Lucy "In the sky with Diamonds" passed away? Accordning to what I read, she was never a Beatles fan and did not like the song. She was honored though that John would use Julian's drawing of her as the inspiration for the song that became a hit for them.
I'm with you as far as I am totally gonna buy all the CDs - I love the packaging, etc. But the reality is that more and more people buy and play music thru a digital interface. If the Beatles do eventually end up on iTunes, it'll be big news.
favorite Beatle Is Paul McCartney favorite song at the moment is Ticket to ride and yes i have seen a hard day´s night,Help,Magical mystery tour an Let it Be and much more i´m 17 and i love the Beatles the are the best.
Humm, this is a hard one. Off the top of my head it's "Penny Lane". I love most of the songs on Sgt Pepper. Next would be "Eleanor Rigby" and the third would be "Let it Be". It's odd because these haven't really changed over the decades. To listen to the albums I had to make sure dad was at work and hide in the basement because he didn't want scratches on the vinyl. I spent hours looking at the Sgt Pepper cover with a magnifying glass :D
I hadn't really thought of that. To me the Beatles are a package deal - we can't have one without the other. I never did like Wings, and I love "Give Peace a Chance".
A day in the life is their most awesome song but they have so many though. But if I'm gonna pick a lennon/mccartney, and then I mean a REAL, lennon/mccartney it would be that one. A favorite beatle? Well, I have different ones from different times, right now it's Paul. But it used to be George and before that, Lennon.
Cheers, and I hope they release "carnival of light" and "helter skelter (full 20 min. version)" as bonus tracks for sgt. peppers and the white album remasters respectively.
Then I'll buy them directly.... Too bad I only have downloaded tracks with them, but I'm seeking vinyls cus they are original you know? I have a hard day's night at least :)
That's a pity, you need to get one, awesome feeling. I wish I had those albums, I have heard Abbey Road on vinyl once though, my cousins had it and I went like "WOW! Can I play it?" and yeah. Great record.
All the articles I have read about the box set and stand alone album remasters the word remix was never mentioned. The mono and stereo box are both sold out for now. EMI/Capitol are making more and shipping them ASAP.Very informative video!
Apparently Taisha they have NOT remixed the albums as you said at one point as remastering is not the same thing. The album 'Love' was REMIXED which why the QUALITY of sound on that is so good even if you dont like the way theyve mixed the material
Actually - one of the rumors turned out not to be true - The Beatles didn't become available on iTunes, so you can't legally download Beatles music yet - people are now saying that by Xmas perhaps.
A day in the Life.... just love the 'blew his mind out in a Car' line.... John 4 sure, alough i have meet Paul (my father was a Dj on pirate radio) and he was really cool..... havent seen it, should???i always thought of this movie as somthing they themeslves wouldnt be proud of... and as far as albums i will take u up on your suggestion... i only know Anthologies, but i think there is somthing to be said for albums... there like books and there is a ceratain unity to them.
I guess you'd have been pretty young even in the late 70's, but "album sides" persisted into the early 80's. I don't know how long into the CD era they did this because I stopped listening to the radio in college.
You might also remember that in the 70's some radio stations liked to play full "album sides", mostly during late night hours. There were a lot of fine prog rock choices in the 70's, but Abbey Road fared quite well, too; usually side 2. And younger readers probably have no clue what I'm talking about :)
very tough question. but... strawberry fields forver, penny lane, a day in the life,, with a little help from my friends or she loves you ! lol THE dumbest question ever. how can you choose?
1. Can't choose one, but I'll go with "When I'm Sixty-Four" as it's one of my current favorites.
2. John Lennon
3. No
4. No As much as I'd like to own one of these sets, they are just too much money considering I own all of their material already. But the obsessive collector within tells me otherwise!
I worship their music (I was 5, 6, when they went global), but not their movies at all.
From 1967 to 70, as a wide-eyed pre-teen, I received every Beatles' single release as some kind of revelation, even though I couldn't understand a word they sang.
As the story was then told on radio, their splitting up was all Yoko Ono's fault and up until this day I can't stand her face. Childish, I know, but it's true. "It's getting better all the time!"
I wouldn't like to pick a favourite song, but Ringo is easily my favourite Beatle. Maybe not the most musically talented, but always seemed the best bloke.
Yes, I have seen AHDN! First saw it in a Film Studies class in college and loved it, coincidentally re-watched about 3 weeks ago on DVD, just a fun film to watch.
I'd love to get the new CDs, but I'm off to university in less than 2 weeks, so there's going to be no splashing out for me for a good while. =[
Sure I love "Hey Jude", "All You Need Is Love", "Help!", "Ticket To Ride", "Let It Be", "Day Tripper" and on and on like everybody else. But I'm going to pick another big favorite of mine here. The very last track on Revolver album is a song called "Tomorrow Never Knows." Oh. My. God! The first time I listened to it, I was BLOWN AWAY!! It's so different from all the other Beatles songs. I can't stop listening to it ever since. It's got layers of cool effects. Fantastic mixing job. (Cont'd)>>
>>>And I absolutely LOVE Ringo's syncopated (odd-time feeling) drumming! It sounds very experimental and definitely psychedelic. Listening to that reverse-guitar sound still gives me the goose bumps on my arms even today!!
1. So hard to pick... Hey Jude, Eleanor Rigby, With a Little Help From My Friends....
2. John
3. Not yet. I really need to get around to it...
4. Definitely buying The Beatles Rock Band. Not the set with all the instruments, just the game. I already have a guitar and mic, and I never really liked playing the drums on Rock Band. I'm not a big music purchaser (I don't even have an mp3 player), so I'll probably hold off on the remastered CDs.
3. yes i have and help both great movies my bro owns hard days night funniest movie ever
4. my bros getting it and ill be playing it =]
i agree 100% usually as bands get older the quality of the music worsens but the beatles had the opposite affect ps if the world had the same mentality the world would be a better place! give peace a chance! rip john and george
is this a e-begging vid to get some cash for the Beatles box-set? LoL! Let's get this fellow some cash!
I remember my uncle telling me when Hard Days Night came out that he couldn't hear the movie until the third time it played (guess they didn't kick them out between showings then) because only by that time the girls had lost their voices from screaming thru-out the movie.
I'm totally psyched for this! I got into the Beatles when I was 13 back in 1999 (The One collection did it for me).
I loved the remixed/remastered soundtrack of The Yellow Submarine. It sounded beautiful, but I never understood why they didn't move on to the other albums sooner. The early album CDs were terrible, I gotta admit to that, but I'll be getting the new releases ASAP.
