There us another, Vietnamese American who was played for Dallas Cowboy, but he is retired already after 10 plus years, and his name is Dat Nguyen, you can Google him.
Lin is very good player too, I like the way he attack the rim,
Not to be racist and if i am I apologize: Jeremy Lin and Yao Ming and many of the asian athletes you see today is that they all tend to rely on their understanding of the game and use that to their advantage instead of athleticism or god-given skill sets. Which is why once he finds his place in the NBA, whether as a role-player, Sixth-man, or starter he will excel at what he does and will be an immense role-model for many Asian Americans aspiring to great heights.
@0wnz1111 ---I don't find it racist but it seems to imply that Asian basketball players think smarter than other race of players. Jeremy Lin is not the first to be a point guard. As a matter of factI believe he is the first asian point guard ever. The NBA didnt just start because Jeremy Lin came along its been here for a while with some pretty brilliant players who have graced the court. Im just glad he is a peaceful asian player and not the kind out of China who likes to fight all the time.
@Flyghtman15 thats a stupid comment....yao ming relying on his understanding for the game and not his god given skills.......?????the man in 7 and a half feet tall!!!!!!!!
@CHRisdr13 Yao Ming is, in fact 7 1/2 feet tall, but when was the last time you've seen him use brute strength to score? When you think of a prototypical center, not just in the NBA but in the NCAA too, most are modeling their styles of play after players like Dwight Howard or Blake Griffin. Howard at most uses about 6 MAYBE 7 post moves per game. But the thing is Howard is unique, so he is able to play like that. My point is though Yao doesn't bully in the post, watch a game of Magic@Rockets.
@Flyghtman15 I know what yo mean....yao didnt use brute strenght, he used brute size..but to say that yao relies on his understanding is just not realistic....the guy was an nba player because he was a giant who had some skills....jeremy lin is actually much more athletic than you would think as well.....obviously he relies on skills and understanding much more as a pg though
@Flyghtman15 i don't see why everyone has to bring race into everything. im not saying only you did, but its just annoying and uncalled for. he's a good ball player end of story
Wow! The Knicks got this kid off WAIVERS!?!? Sweeeeeet! He finally gets to show off some skills on the biggest basketball stage ever: The Garden, baby! 'melo, Amare and Tyson are drooling right now at the dishes they're gonna get from Lin! And HE can score too if needed. Not to mention the fact that he's got Baron Davis and mike Bibby as mentors! Way to go Knicks!!
@phillyvegas Yeah the Knicks picked up a jewel man, I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up starting as he fits better in their system than the PG's they have
why does anyone care about his race jesus i thought only white people do that shit. HES A BASKETBALL PLAYER (not a chinese basketball player not a taiwanese basketball player) People do the same thing with blake griffin, who gives a shit what his race is respect the person for the PERSON/PLAYER he is
it's the Tagalog word for Filipino, so it's the same thing except Pilipinos are viewed to actually come from the Philippines and Filipinos, not really. But that's not really a written rule so yeah >_>

We chinky, we eat rice, we love basketball, we got funny accents, and are bitches are fine. I'm fillipino, we may be slightly tanner, but cmon. speaking about China vs Philipines. China will strap the fuck out you guys easily man.. lol .. dont even try to make fun of us. At least there's a person too look up to for the next Asian American generation. I wish i had one growing up. And he's a Christian.

@Filipinos4Islanders fucking disgrace. You don't even know your own people's history. Filipinos are of Malaysian blood, just like Indonesians, Vietnamese, Thailand. We're Asian too. Idiot.
I love how Jeremy Lin is the first Asian basketball player under 7 feet :) (I think) Im asian and im glad he's representing us in the NBA! Keep up the good work Jeremy!!
Wow wussup with the Filipino vs China vs Taiwanese War on the comments? -.- Making us asians look stupid. Just Cut it. Just respect the guy. He's gone further than all of us..
Too many negative comments if this guy bulks up and becomes a better passer and scorer he will be OK. But he will never be in the top 20 pgs in the nba maybe not even 30
Look to all the ppl (asians) who are defending jeremy, i want him to succeed. But the truth is he will never be a star in the nba. For an asian hes not that smart, why would you choose to go to a team that already has to gifted guards who can play point. He could gone to a few other teams but he CHOSE to go to golden state. He’s a minimum, inexpensive asset. The owner of the the team Joe Lacob said this "You need to look at him as a developing asset. Is he going to be a superstar? No."
@Streetdisciple27 "Only shitty rookies play d league. Face it he sux."
Does that sound to you like someone who wants another to succeed? No one's expecting him to be a star, but he can be a useful role player once he develops further. To go as far as to say he sucks is telling a lie, and you should have told that to Monta his rookie year.
He went to the Warriors because that's his hometown team, just like most prospective NBA players that grew up in Los Angeles want to play for the Lakers.
@Streetdisciple27 Lol He went to Harvard, you might need to be at least decently smart to attend an Ivy League school to play basketball seeing as how they don't offer scholarships for athletics. He went to Golden State because he grew up idolizing that team, he's following his dreams. And don't try to legitimize your stupid ass claims with something you cited off of Wikipedia. Get some legit information or get the fuck out.
@Streetdisciple27 - stfu, this was his rookie season and barely played, so 13 against the Lakers at Staples in limited minutes is pretty damn impressive if you ask me.
@Streetdisciple27 - Or maybe it's because the Warriors have Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry, who can both play point. He can still go to a new team and be a solid backup, and eventually work his was to a starting role. He's got a lot of time to develop.
@Streetdisciple27 patrick patterson played in the dleague and he was a solid rookie this year. it's just that patterson and lin's teams both had better players to perform their respective roles. d league is development league for a reason. shannon brown played in the dleague extensively and look at him now
@Streetdisciple27 When you aren't given the minutes to play like D-Rose has, of course you're going to have less points. You want to know why he was in the D-League? Because Keith Smart decided to play Acie Law for almost as much time as Stephen Curry, even though Law sucks, giving Lin pretty much no playing time. As you probably know, the Warriors went 35-46 and weren't even close to playoff contention.
@Streetdisciple27 And what was your career high? hmm?Oh yeah you are not even in the NBA. You are the loser making fun out of someone who is trying their best.
Fuck golden state they fucking suck good thing he got to the knicks

@Streetdisciple27 he's quite smart for an asian.. went to Harvard.. are you in Harvard? No.
crazymonster000 5 months ago

@BiGGuY32 Hes been to the d league twice and probably will stay there. Only shitty rookies play d league. Face it he sux and so do you
Streetdisciple27 8 months ago
@Streetdisciple27 - Or maybe it's because the Warriors have Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry, who can both play point. He can still go to a new team and be a solid backup, and eventually work his was to a starting role. He's got a lot of time to develop.
BiGGuY32 8 months ago
