No worries, Joan. You still have no equal. No one comes even close to you.
Is there another Joan Baez out there that can help stir the Spirit of America and get these wars of aggression stopped?
Think of what was happening in America in the 1960s, and the opposite of that horror show was the voice of Joan Baez. But Joan didn't let people forget what was going on in Vietnam and Civil Rights. She used her great talent to motivate people to action. America needs to wake up and soon.
Thanks for posting this video! Loved her voice back then the most! Also amazing to see someone perform on a stage in such a mesmorizing way with no special effects, backup etc.
What a perfect voice and heart this woman has. For my youth, you spoke to me and kept me company on my journey with your songs. What a blessing to have lived in this time and hear such a marvelous voice and see a woman with such integrity as she grew up. Thank you for your music, your voice, your example.

does this song mean freedom to those who use legally sold tobacco products in 2009. With the help of corporate bosses, and charities such as the "Cancer Society," the use of tobacco is now banned on many corporate sites.
While tabocco may not be good for personal comsumption, it is legal. Even as a non-smoker i see we are loosing freedom. Oh freedom.
ah, but you miss the conjecture....that freedom is about who is in control. Currently in our discussion, you command control and FAIL! me. Do u requiring me to kneel over your opinion? Will i be buried in my grave rather than experience any freedom from that control? Oh....no more moaning over me....before i will be a slave.

Our Godess of Song in the 60-ies! (we all tried to sound like her. Carried our acoustic guitars with us everywhere.) (by the way, can't get over how she resembles my mother!)
A 1:01 min moi j'entends: "no more kneeling" = " plus nous mettant a genoux" (j'espere que mon orthograph est plus ou moins correct...). Puis a 1:45 min moi j'entends: "no more mourning over me" = "plus de deuil sur moi"...
"Oh Freedom" is one of the anthems of the 1960's Civil Rights Movement. Joan Baez marched in Alabama and Mississippi with Dr. King, SNCC, CORE et al. Singing this song at her concerts help to spread the message of freedom. Miss Baez, the Original SNCC Freedom Singers(Cordell Reagon, Bernice Johnson-Reagon, Charles Neblett and Rutha Harris), and Fannie Lue Hamer made this a very popular song.
This song is an african america post civil war freedom song. It was written in the 19th century, Joan is only performing her own interpretation of it. I think people can appreciate both kinds of music. I really like this version.
i'm only seventeen, but i have all of her 60-70 stuff downloaded, and have yet to even touch anything beyond that. like, bowery songs? i heard one song and it sounds do different. i'll stick to old joan
Wow. I have heard her name for years, but knew little about her. Now, watching some of these YouTube videos, I understand for the first time WHO she is. Amazing & timeless.
O that's the sound I have loved all my life, thanks for putting a label on it. I don't know anything about music, but I just adore her voice and have since I was a teenager when I brought her first 3 LP's.
