  • This track raises the hairs on my neck like no other! Superb!!!!

  • Shier disbelief in the way he can make my toes curl.

  • I have never been a folk music fan until I found Ray

  • I think that when God invented music, this is what he intended it to sound like!! :P

  • He's no Otis Redding.

  • Couldn't turn the volume up enough :(

  • I dunno about twice the soul as Otis. They're my two favorite singers, in all seriousness. I'd not put one over the other.

  • Seeing my girl in three days.. posted this on her wall.

  • When a song like this gives you goosebumps you know you are listening to the real deal...

  • sexiest/most talented man on earth

  • Ray is awesome, great voice, classic whiskey voice haha x x

  • Ray's music gets me off and lifts me up like no one else. I find myself dancing and singing with child like amusement to him. So sexy

  • @eighttrack70 lmao, thats my favorite show on t.v. Frank was jamming lol

  • This is music.

  • Orgasm starts at 2:30 : ends on 3:24! Amazing!!

  • I don't know why, but all the time I listen to this song, I remember of all the girls and women that I know from the Maine...

  • This sounds an awful lot like "son of a preacher man" by Dusty Springfield which is a great song in itself. That being said, the changes in this song make it fantastic in its own right.

  • most excessive strumming i've ever seen...and guess what? it's worth it :)

    awesome song

  • It's not only the lyrics that make such an emotional impact, the brass, sax, drums, and guitar raise the experience to an emotional climax

  • See you in Missoula Ray!

  • This song arouses me. Boner City.

  • Your the man Ray...

  • Ray, Idon't know-i doubt it-bu if you do ever check the comments on here, thank you so much forevery note that you play and every word thatyou sing you fill my soul with smiles and make my bad days good!!

  • These sessions should be released on CD/MP3/Blu-Ray...c'mon man!

  • @glacierroast

PLease I would pay whatever to own this session. some of his greatest live work

  • He looks and feels like a cross between Kenny Loggins and Cat Stevens. I can't believe I only recently came across his music. The guy is great.

  • @LeCutter i found him a coupla yrs ago and i couldnt blieve i hadnt heard of ray but i saw him at royal albertt hall fukin awsome and just gets better

  • I would also very much like to see what a Dan Auerbach/Ray Lamontagne collaboration would sound like.

  • @drunkingham138 there'd be a lot of facial hair in this collaboration

  • The studio version definitely does Ray a disservice. This is incredible.

  • The perfect musical reaction to the female version of Ain't no sunshine :-)

  • Dude can roll!

  • Yeah bring it on home to me baby!

  • I just wish he would take this and just fucking jam with it way longer. awesome. love the studio version just as much if not better but live is definately a treat!

  • Ray is the Way

  • Oh my god that was awsome!

  • Oh my god that was awsome!

  • this man is a golden god.

  • Holy Fuck...like the reincarnation of Son House and John Lee Hooker

  • Otis Redding died too soon so God sent him back as a white guy with twice the soul.

  • @queenfoursuited nahh, Otis definetly had more soul

  • @queenfoursuited LMAO Love that.

  • Sounds way too similar to "Feelin' Alright" on the chorus's

  • This one always bring out the animal in my old lady. Thank you from the bottom of my heart (and my loins) Mr. Lamontagne!

  • Ray's music is sex. And no, I didn't forget the "y."

  • @swtsongbird That's some boring-ass sex.

  • @swtsongbird Yeah, all you judgemental people can suck it. Ya'll be thinkin. EY FOO YO FOGOT YO Y. But nah, nah he aint.

  • Love Ray and his sexy, passionate voice and singing.

  • Absolutely amazing. Say no more.

  • WOW!

  • R.e. the Otis Redding / Cocker comparisons, I love Otis Redding, have all his albums, live and otherwise, along with a very rare video of him. The first gig I saw Ray at was Bush Hall, absolutely tiny, and at the end of the acoustic version of this song that someone recorded (thankyou bootleggers!) someone shouted out "Otis Lives!"

And my mate who's just as into funk and soul thought he sounded like Joe Cocker. Are they right? Who cares, they're awesome singers, it's a compliment

  • This song is awesome

  • Good god can this guy give it 500% Love this song~!!!!

  • The best.......

  • Love him!

  • This IS music!!!!!!!!!

  • with this voice, he'll get what he want:-)

  • @Campinoccio Hell fucking yes.

  • you can tell that he really got into this

  • ho2cultcha....go! you will love david gray in concert!!!

  • 15 people didn't like this? They are from what planet?.......or New York?

  • 15 people didn't like this? What planet are they from?

  • Finally... some good music, made by REAL people and REAL instruments! Thank you!

  • i want to go see ray in concert, but i'm not that interested in the headliner he's playing with. i'd love to see him in a small club in the san francisco bay somewhere. he's the best since sliced bread.

  • oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh i love it so much!

  • goosebumps

  • real music.its great to hear someone who loves his job.great voice ........if god wanted a singing voice he would use ray s ....

  • Everything about Ray makes me feel good - the great lyrics, the arrangements, the voice, the nod to the past but how he makes it his own thing.

  • He looks like Ted Kaczynski, but sounds like Otis Redding and Joe Cocker. He's the Una-Songer

  • @yeomans71 The Otis Redding/Joe Cocker comparison is always the one I make about Ray!

    He's so awesome!

  • @LeesJams

nothing like joe cocker or otis redding. why not throw in rod stewart and bonnie tyler while you are at throwing trite comparisons around.

  • @warrenvazquez are you serious?

If you have an opinion that's perfectly fine, but that doesn't mean you're right. and if you do some looking, I think you'll find that many more people have made the same comparisons to Cocker and Redding...

  • How awesome is this Guy????? what old school feel what Soul

  • i would never say 'no' to ray! ; p

  • didn't realize he was that good live.

  • Holy Fuck......I get get goose bumps listening to this guy. I ain't gay either. But this guy can belt out a tune. WOW!!!! A+ Version for sure. A+ singer is more fucking like it.

Cannot wait to see you Aug 27 In Toronto Ray.....

  • Ray LaMontagne is by far one of the most talented and underrated artists out there. He has more talent than any of the mainstream artists that are engulfed in commercializing their music. I'm glad he's not a sell-out, so we can see and hear performances as pure and incredible as this!

  • Excelent...but...His voice sound tired... =S

  • Definitely inspired by Ottis Redding. This FIRE!!!!

  • Holy Ton-o-soul for a White boy!!!! Someone has a new fan!

  • I love how LaMontagne does amazing whether he has a band of 20 guys behind him or just him and an acoustic guitar and everywhere between. Now that's talent.

  • Jay Bellarose + Drums = AMAZINGNESS

  • I have chills all over just listening to him! OMG!!!!! He is so GREAT!!!!!!!!

  • sure can't say no to this one :D

  • I listen to Ray whenever I'm driving. I blast it as loud as I can and sing along. I don't care if ppl think I'm crazy! hahaha :]

  • Maybe its because Im off my meds, but his voice is so great that it brings tears to my eyes, wow!

  • Ray is beyond ridiculous!! My soul even wants to dance to his slow/somber songs!

  • I don't think it's available on DVD. It was recorded by the BBC though, so it may well be viewable online somewhere, possibly via iPlayer?

  • I believe this is his best piece, I say that because everytime this song starts, I uncontrollably close my eyes and start singing at the top of my lungs

  • @MrAdhdx10 i think i can relate to that ... :D

  • @MrAdhdx10 I do exactly the same! I just can't help it. Magnificent piece of soul - and the horns - My God - sublime!

  • I was at the recording of this show and it was one of the greatest musical experiences of my life.

  • I am very envious. Do you happen to know where this DVD can be purchased? I think this is one of the finest recordings I have ever seen and I thank the net for exposing me to it, but I sure would love to see the whole thing straight through.

  • Cat Stevens is Born!

  • that is what makes him so great. Otis Reading, Aurthur Alexander, Percey Sledge, Ray LaMontange, songs my dad listened too that were just soulful and wonderful, now someone as good in our generation

  • certainly up there with the great Rays

    Liotta

    Winstone

    Barneveld

  • you really could have gone about that in a much nicer way. almost ruined a great song with your asshole tone.

  • Ray !!!!!!! You are the man

  • Now that Jammin!!! im not really a big trumpet fan either but they do sound good. Its about time they start making some real music

  • Superb. But I HATE trumpets!

  • can u say why you hate trumpets?

  • Hehe, I don't know. I can't really stand them. It's acceptable in this song, but generally I find them really annoying. :D

  • what about the saxophones?

  • Saxophones are ok.

  • You got two negatives for this but I knocked you back up because trumpets take away from a lot of songs. Having said that, they managed to make me realize what it is I like about this guy...picture Otis Redding singing the songs Ray Lamontagne sings.

  • Oh I like this song alot. :) And the trumpets are not that bad in this either, although I don't think they fit particularly well with the mellow tones of the rest of the song.

But I don't know, I always think the trumpets are too loud and they overpower the other instruments.

  • I FINALLY found the entire BBC Four session and downloaded it. It's without a doubt the most amazing live video I've ever seen. Ray is awesome, but that ENTIRE BAND is just totally sick!

  • Where did you download it from, I would love to obtain a copy myself.

  • can you PLEASE tell me where you downloaded this show? Been looking for it for months. Thanks

  • It's 2010.

    GOOGLE.

Ray Lamotagne + BBC + Torrent.

    GAWD!

  • Soul~!

  • love this song more than anything!

  • It hurts, this song is too good for it's own good!!!!!!

  • ahhh so much soul!!

  • This is heavy metal by Ray's standards.

  • This is epic funk.

  • Huge smooooth grooove Ray rocks

  • Efffin A, Ray Ray! He's soooooo amazing.

  • I think Ray REALLY wanted to go home! Ha! I LOVE THIS PERFORMANCE. The best I've ever seen him. CONFIDENT. EXCELLENT. SUPERB. He amazes me.

  • Right because the first thing on Ray LaMontagne's list of things to do is become a media whore.

He doesn't want millions of listeners. Some people are just happy with a smaller fanbase.

  • ray got soul for days!

  • Just how amazing is Ray? Seen this guy twice in the UK now and he's superb live. Cracking video!

  • this is some grown and sexy shit. love this guy's music!

  • Damn!! :~)

  • "So I can bring it on home to you..."

Ohhh, he has a level of eroticism that rivals anyone. He reminds me of the blues and rock-and-roll singers of the 1960s-1970s. That raspy voice, those lyrics, his passion...he just melts you.

  • @lucybells0 My sentiments exactly. "Gonna give it so you can't say no..." (!) Anyone else singing and this lyric might sound really crude, but he pulls it off with such raw passion-- it's indescribably seductive. *sigh* :)

  • Chills watching him deliver this performance. Cool to see the drummer connect with his energy.

  • I was expecting this live, but he hide to the side of the band, I was a tad let down. I loved the music, but I didn't witness him in his glory, living his music ,soul on sleeve. Guess all are due a bad day. He reminded me of how I like to perform. Hidden in the background .just singing and playing your soul,no lights/glory wanted. The sound will say it all . I wanted to experience this concert.but realize that it was a once in a life time event. Music Magic on stage,no feeling can compare.

  • This man is was Soul is all about.

  • A great artist that everyone should know about. Reminiscent of Al Green and Robert Cray. Amazing

  • I agree that Ray has a Joe Cocker-esque sound. This is an excellent quality live version of this song. Enjoyed it!!!

  • kind of reminds me of Richard Manuel of The Band. the whole look and kind of the voice. got a lot of soul like richard

  • I am going to see him solo acoustic at the Fox Theater in Atlanta on 11/1. I am totally stoked!

  • Cmon Ray

  • one word: PERFECT.

  • FIX IT!!! its "Three More Days" not "thee more days"

  • you can't listen to this guy loud enough, very joe cocker-esque. i love to celebrate a big sale at work with ray lamontagne, joe cocker, and tom waits. I wish he would cover "sinnerman" by nina simone. i know he would bring real soul to that song and put a smile on nina's face

  • He's got it all inside and out. The best of all and Cat Stevens.

  • this video makes my day

  • haw haw raay lemontag
