in my personal opinion, FF13 unites the old and the new for me. the new battle system is awesome, and the attention to character developement has been taken to a new level. musically, mr. uematsu's legacy has carried on to 13, unlike that musical abomination 12. despite its linearity, which indeed is a flaw, but also allowed you to see the story more clearly. ff13 is good. and i have a feeling 13-2 may just end up being the stuff of legends

This song was for the Japanese version of the game, while another version of this song, called "Overseas Version" is for the American and Europe versions of the game. The lyrics that were posted by Ryl92 are the correct lyrics for the English Version of the game, or American/Europe Version.

@CrazyJaycie Yes! That sucks so bad! I wished they would have made it longer, and had this song at the ending instead of stupid Leona Lewis' song, which was not written for FFXIII. They were better off having no vocal song for FFXIII. Sheez, is SE really not coming up with anymore ideas or what?

hey. I just realized it that this song have 2 version of lyric.. the soundtrack's lyric and the lyric of this song in the game (scene where Snow and Serah were seeing fireworks) are different.

Lyric in the game:

@Ryl92 Yes, you're right. This version is from the Japanese version of the game, while the other one is called "Serah's Theme (Overseas Version)", which is the one from the North American and European versions of the game. It's the international version, pretty much. And if you notice, on the Overseas Version, Frances Maya sings the beginning part differently than the regular version. I like the Overseas version better, I believe she sings it with better emotions.

@Ryl92 Well, the overseas version may not be on this soundtrack, but it is on a soundtrack... it's on the mini album called "W/F:Music from FINAL FANTASY XIII -Gentle Reveries-" album. It's on a vinyl disc, one of those old time record discs for those huge record players from the 70's or 60's or maybe even from earlier than the 60's...? I don't know what year it was that they had those, but they're so old, how the heck is anyone going to play the album? It's so stupid that they do those things..

@SingmetheSea Well, I kinda agree, but where's the uniqueness in having her hair completely down? I like her hair to the side, but I don't like the back of her head. It looks tacky for a beautiful young girl, you know what I mean? That's what probably makes her design kinda weird, you know? At least I don't like it that way.... What do you not like about her ponytail?

@ValiantTerra Tacky, like, she would look old sort of? Hmm... I dont know; basically, I was thinking of a half pony tail, with her hair staying the same length at the front. That way they could have decorated the back by adding an ornament or something (so she would retain that 'young' feel). To be true, I just don't like this version of a side pony for some reason x)

@Ryl92 Actually, no it's not. Listen to her voice carefully, I didn't get these lyrics from any website. I listened to her singing to see what she says in the songs, and she says "the", not "OUR". I can literally hear her say "the", which is the reason I put "the" instead of "our". Well, since you would know the lyrics, can you tell me exactly what shes says during this line "Hang in for the light 'till dawn", like the part "for the"? I can't really hear what she says, and it's confusing. : (

Serah is my favourite character...I'm not sure why haven't even gotten to play her haha. It's so sad what happened to her T_T some scenes in this game can really bring tears.

Well, The Promise would be the instrumental version of Serah's Theme, and the title screen music. There are different types of this song, with all of them with either similar names or different names, but the different names are the official names of the songs.
