  • I adoore the last shot, minute 1,27- the ashtrey and the notes..

  • i thought the smoke was coming from his fingers

  • Beautiful.Bellissimo Vivaldi suonato da Julian Bream.

  • WHOAH!!!!!

  • sweet

  • This is so bizarre: first the funky speaker voice announcing over the telephone that bream is busy rehearsing and then the smoking cigarette at the end. Love it!

  • In his prime, he was the greatest lutenist and vihuelist of the 20th Century.

  • it actually is the lute but he plays it different then it is traditionally.

  • Grab a hold on them knobs of the recording console, it could have been inside a submarine......

  • That's a huge mandolin!

  • wOW, FIRST TIME I'VE ACTUALLY SEEN JULIAN WITH A FULL HEAD OF HAIR. I LIKE HIS PORTABLE ASHTRAY AT THE END.

  • what kinda guitar is tat is ot a guitar sorta looks like a lute but doesnt sound like one. if it is a lute it is very unique

  • it's a lute mate. He's using nails

  • Is that Abbey Road studios by any chance?

  • Sure looks like it.

  • Not many lutenist use nails, I Wonder Why? It open for more possibilities that you may hear in this recording. Julian Bream is great, I admire him!

  • julian bream is the king

  • anybody know what they're playing, last movement's name?

  • anybody??

  • trio sonata in G minor, RV 85, Allegro

  • El maestro tiene pelo!

  • the young Julian is quite a good looking lad

  • Oh man how much i love the part when they start playng the last movement. The lute and the harpsichord are such a beautiful combination - love that baroque sound! 5 stars

  • I agree, and such a combination imbued with such life here. but so out of fashion, where could you go to hear this kind of thing today - it's out there I'm sure but niche, and at this level?

  • Hard to say! I'm sure the larger cities will see such performances from time to time. The brightness of the music really is remarkable.

  • With a kiss on the lips and a sway of the hips after a hard nights .ing

  • what's the number of this concert??please answer

  • Notice the cigarette waiting at the end :)

"A cup of char & a tube of joy" was all the reward Julian asked after a hard day's plucking.

  • conocia algo de Julian Bream en la guitarra, pero no en el laud, el es simplemente extraordinario!

  • So basically you can right any sheet music? If you can, I was wondering if you could write the sheet music for Paco Peña's (guitar) performance of Alegrías? I could not find the sheet music online. Thanks A LOT!!!

  • Bream is wonderful

However Nu Labours PC Police would have arrested them to day for smoking in the studio..

  • Why doesn't the poor bastard on the harpsichord have someone to turn the page for him? Gee whiz!

  • That's a lute, dipshit.

  • haha funny.

Po-lute. That's like when you dump oil in the river. Never do that.

  • I love 00.39 sec

  • triosonata g minor by vivaldi for, originally, lute, violin and harpsichord. there are arrangements for guitar quartet and so on

  • what's the name of the pieces that he plays??

  • oh.. sorry :(

    i don't know

  • @sportac if you look at the end shot of the book it says "trio in sol min.. something" minor? maybe

  • @sportac

    trio in sol minor? 1:24

  • this is known as Fruscia123 said.

in Vivaldi´s catalog this is "RV 85"

the first 30 seconds of the video is a part of the Larghetto, the rest is the Allegro.

this music is included in the fifth cd of Bream`s collection.

  • I can't finde Bream's edition for sale, or at least the fifth cd, do you a place where I can finde it

  • @chermyyy Trio in G minor for violin, lute and basso continuo RV 85

  • isn't the lute played with a pick??'

  • A very long long time ago using a plectrum with a lute was more common but it eventually was abandoned.

  • Brings tears to my eyes!

  • Just wonderful and amazing to see the master creating such beautiful music!

  • Lovely historical footage. Early 1960's? Looks like Abbey road studios to me. Where is this from?
