@killerkoala79 They are one of the most easy and effective ways to create or especially improvise a solo (rock, hard rock, blues). Root note is used to identify the key of the scale. For example, if the root is A, then the scale will be the A minor pentatonic. Connecting the penta scales together can be done with the musical modes. There are different patterns with the same notes of the Diatonic (main) scale.
I suggest you to use for now the main scale and try to improvise over backing tracks.
@Gwuba you need more then one chord to decide the key. but yes you can either use one scale that relates to all or use diiferent scales over each chord
Whoa that lick at 3:06 is really sweet. Its simple but really sweet. Thanks Marty. That whole lesson really boosted me to another level of playing man. I'll become quite a good lead guitarist slowly. It feels great to have these little barriers flying away one by one- just because of your lessons !
@krazyheroic23 4 dislikes from the ppl that dont know where music was born and dont realize metal has alot of scales in them especialy the solos. dip shits. if it was for this type of music being born b4 other types of music would be way behind in being born. its like ppl that say the beatles suck. yeah well if u do ur research and tried to learn how to play almost any of their stuff i bet they would suck and give up. anyways if it werent for them who knows how long it would....
@LucifersArms666 ... taken for rock and roll to be born and how would that have changed the sound of what it is today. what if rock didnt hit till the 70's or 80's or longer and there was never an elvis? ppl are dumb cause they dont know their roots and they judge because its not metal when metal was born from the stuff they hate. fuck all you wannabe's that dont know anything in the first place
Marty, just want you to know that you've been touching a lot of people, not just in United States but all over the world, by generously sharing us or should I say teaching us all you know about guitar. Honestly, there's a lot of guitar instructors out there trying to teach just like you but believe me, they don't seem so passionate.
Very nice hat you got there! Hahah it's fi\unny how many comments you get concerning your hats! Hahah It just wouldn't be a martysongz video without them!
i know it probably gets repetitive for you to read this constantly, but once again, great lesson marty! i love how you have the ability to teach those that have never held a guitar before....but also you can show experienced players many new tricks and ideas to help expand their playing. thanks a lot bud!
Marty, please can you do a Extended lesson on the thing u talk about after 10:00? Mixing major and minor pentatonic. Sharing ideas on how to build riffs in those transitions. Thank you!
marty a friendly advice for me and the other amateurs if we lose motivation ?????????????????'sometimes its not easy for beginners i know learn and learn and learn ? thx to u
@martyzsongs marty howdo you set up yourguitar??? i have a epiphone les paul ....how do you set up your amp is it a pedal? i have a crate amp so... plese? you rock but could you tell us how to dothat in later videos???? pleeeeeeeseeeeee?
@XIIdmb53IIX Listen to the music and spend some time with the Minor Pentatonic. For example... try a couple of Black Sabbath songs with the A Minor and some Judas Priest in E Minor, sooner or later you'll find a lick that sounds good or from a solo you remember well. The Pentatonic Scales are pretty much universal, just experiment.
Can you teach i`m down by the beatles the whole song plus the solo and stuff by the way nice playing keep practicing

whats the route used for??
How to connect the pentatonics together???

Let's say there is a song that starts off with a G chord. Does that mean the song is in the key of G?
And if it is, does that mean you play a G scale trough the whole song or do you switch between scales, like chords?
I don't quite get it.
