  • Excluding the arcade and the x68000 (which isn't shown here and is pretty much arcade perfect), I go with the C64 and the Nes. The GBA and GBC suck because you can't see the whole screen at once and that becomes really important in later levels.

  • @christo930 I'm considering doing a part 2 for this one. :) or making a continuation & editing it into the original. Not sure yet.

  • I forgot to mention that in the Master system version there were several bosses in between the Game i think every 25 stage or so there was a boss and thats why i always said that the game was frigging hard. Several years later when i purchased the saturn version i was surprised that it hadn`t the mid bosses then i realiised that it was only in the Master system version.

  • hmm either the Master system emulation had sound problems or i have memory problems. I remember that the sound was faster but well it was over 20 years ago maybe i should check that out later. Also it was the only port which had 200 rounds but i am really unsure if the stages repeated themselves after stage 100 or not. Probably one of most faithfull Arcade conversions. But they seem to be all good ports wxcept for zx & CPC version.

  • @htdmc2010 I was using the PAL version of the SMS for this video. I could not seem to get the NTSC Version to work correctly. PAL tends to be a bit slower.

  • @GamingHistorySource

That could be the case thx alot for your effort i really love the comparison videos.

  • On this game the Game Gear kicked Game Boys ass in the pocket wars.

  • funny how the Gameboy Advance had the power to make a pixel perfect version but they choose to change almost all the graphics

  • @khyron62 The GBA doesn't have enough lines of resolution, only 160, it's native resolution being 240x160 makes the screen too short.

  • @mynameisleeyesitis The BBC version was never an official release. I coded it and approached Firebird but they weren't interested at the time

  • The "new" version of Bubble Bobble on GBA, sorry to offend you if I do, is UGLY AS HWELL! Looks like f***ing Megaman in a cheap-arse Dragon suit and a bubble-shooting beam! Seriously bro, that game disappointed me at its maximum.

  • @r4shka no offense taken. it's one of those types of games. You either love it or hate it. Thanks for commenting ! :)

  • The Gameboy version was 7 kinds of uncalled for.

    Great vid, great game.

  • The NES version will always be my favorite. Although I would love to get an original arcade machine as well.

  • I am surprised to see a nes version not having any mario stuff in it. BTW i am a bit fedup with mario now.

  • @OGRMaster Mario has only made cameos in first party NES games. He didn't show up in every game on the system you know.

  • The ZX Spectrum port got positive reviews from Sinclair-themed magazines of the time: "Crash" gave it 90/100, and "Sinclair User" gave it 8/10 (though they mentioned a dislike for the in-game music. In any case, sound was never the Spectrum's strong point). Unlike many other arcade games of the time (*cough* Outrun *cough*), this could be ported to the C64, Spectrum, and CPC without much trouble...so why did the CPC port turn out the way it did? It was a more powerful system than the Spectrum...

  • You either have a bad crack of the Amiga version, or you have something configured wrong. I don't recall my copy ever forcing you into a two-player game. It seems like the controls for player two are registering when they shouldn't.

  • The half bubbles shown in the Gameboy-version of the game, are a result of the recording framerate, I think. Due to the spritelimit of the Gameboy it isn't possible to show alle sprites at the same time on the screen. Therefore only a few of them get displayed in a frame, then in the next frame the other missing sprites get displayed. The result of this technique is a flickering image. If you're recording on a specific framerate, not all of the rendered images get recorded. Thanks for the video!

  • The c64 music is way better than the other versions :)

  • I won't comment on the differences but the guy who invented this game was a genius.

    :)

  • @WangLiangQuan Agreed !

  • @GamingHistorySource should have included atari st and bbc micro version :(

  • if you need help finding some of the other versions not in the video I can help you. Also did you ever find that other C64 version of pitfall?

  • @panzeroceania couldn't locate it :( I checked c64 . c o m but the only one that showed up was the one I had. BUT ! I just recently acquired a CD set of c64 games & will note to look for that version on the disk. :) Maybe I'll update the video if I locate it. BTW .. If you have any classic comparisons that You would like to see I am looking into taking requests. peace ! & thanks for the comments :)

  • @panzeroceania Also. I meant to say. If you know of any other sources Please shoot me links via email on here.
