  • these are just another way of gaining money out of you. if they really wanted speed to be reduced they would

1 not give you a warning speed cameras are about (as they do in england)

2 they would have some sort of speed camera every 100 yrs or whatever

3 its silly just having the lines on the road because motorist see the yellow, slow down then once they ve have past it just speed back up

  • @jcoldham1 You completely misunderstand, speed enforcement in the UK has run at a financial loss for the past three years since the hypothecation changes removed the prospect of netting-off.

The secondary check marks are white not yellow.

Police operated mobile enforcement has no warning signs & can be anywhere, so there is always the threat of one being around the next corner.

    Every 100 years?

  • @lollygaggle - Tech enforced speed regulation has been running at a loss ever since it was introduced - and you tout that as a good thing? All along naysayers have been stating the common facts: that speeding is less than 5% of the issue - which it is - yet Labour concentrated 80% of its resources into silly costly contraptions to reduce speed - some nations dont even have motorway speed limits - i.e. Germany, their rates of accidents are lower than ours - plz explain gagglebrains.

  • @GoVir4l Hi, you question if I tout it as a good thing?

No, simply that speed enforcement is fabulously misunderstood & laced with folklore & misinformation.

  • @lollygaggle <<<< idiot.

  • There is a very easy way not to be caught - DON'T BREAK THE LAW. You have a choice whether or not to exceed the speed limit, so if you get caught stop going on about it. People on pepipoo will not help you to pervert the course of justice either!

They just like to look at different cases and not really help anyone. One or two members are quite offensive too. So the easy way not to be prosecuted for a criminal offence is not to commit it in the first place. Common sense really.

    .

  • @urbex2007 easy to say, what about wrong camera settings, and they know it ,they do it on purpose and hardly anybody argues because it cost heaps more to prove them wrong

  • @cuda540ify What are 'wrong camera settings'?

  • @lollygaggle set at 108 when everyone does 100 or less. funny that, heaps of 108kph tickets, nah not revenue is it?road safety HAHA the revenue raisers know it .we know it,they have to pay for their debacles somehow in australasia !!!dont reply ,ive said my piece,

  • Weeks ago i supplied m4553y with the requested facts via PM - no response has been forthcoming.

This speaks volumes for the weightiness of said link data.

    Detail beats 'em every time.

  • The recent weather has clearly indicated that mobile speed camera vehicles are cash generators, and aren’t about road safety at all.

I have been mobile camera spotting for the past year, and have seen at least one camera van per day Monday-Friday since January of this year. In the past week, since the snow downfall I haven’t seen one!!!

The road conditions are treacherous, and if speed enforcement was about road safety then they should be on our roads now!

  • @m4553y Speed cameras cost more to run than they generate - it has nothing to do with revenue.

  • @lollygaggle Please supply me with these facts.

  • @m4553y Done via PM.

  • @lollygaggle you must be a revenue raiser.99 pc of people know the truth

  • @cuda540ify In the UK, speed enforcement generates less than it takes to operate, thus revenue is not an active consideration. The majority of people never consider the running costs & only see the annual financial fines figure believing it is all some kind of profit.

You are totally confused between Australia & the UK's operating practices.

  • @lollygaggle i must be because even the police here say its about revenue.the debacle they call the government has to pay for their cockups somehow

  • @lollygaggle - Most of your comments have centred around speed regulation operating at a running loss - that's right - but your comments only serve to highlight another area of Labours failed super-surveillance police state - people marvelled for too long at their antics - until they saw the bill - we’re currently 1 trillion in debt b/c of the money they wasted on these silly endeavours - since 2005 speeding accidents have shown no change in London - read ONS stats - You were WRONG lollygaggle.

  • @GoVir4l Hi, speed enforcement is not designed to reduce RTC's, accident numbers can never be impacted whilst human beings are in charge of motor vehicles. Especially with new toys being introduced all the time that degrade concentration.

The issue is the reduction of physical trauma WHEN a collision takes place.

Hope this clears up your confusion.

    Any questions, don't hesitate.

  • @lg- I reiterate: ‘speed is an issue in less than 5% of road collisions’ - you've clearly dedicated a large portion of your life to defending speed cameras - can you provide me with the statistics to show that either (1) collisions have been reduced or (2) that 'physical trauma' at the site of collision has been reduced due to the sole use of a speed camera, you can PM me the link. I am a motorcyclist you don’t need patronise me about the relationship between speed and physical trauma.

  • @GoVir4l Hi, thanks for responding. You believe I 'defend' speed enforcement. I do not. I am simply filling in the gaps in misinformation.

I have not stated that collisions have been reduced, & it is not possible to prove that someone involved in a collision was driving slower because of the influence of speed enforcement.

I have however, very clearly indicated the intention of speed enforcement, regardless of it working or not. Cancer warnings exist on packets, but do they work?

  • @lollygaggle- You stated that speed enforcement has nothing to do with RTC's - so what is the purpose of speed cameras? Im riding on an A road about to exit, a car comes up behind travelling way too fast, it’s raining, she fails to brake in time, how could a speed camera have prevented this? Maybe if i'd have been travelling inside one of their miniscule 'speed check zones', so I am protected for approximately 12 seconds of a 3 hour journey, and you're telling me they’re not a waste of money?

  • @GoVir4l Hi, I have already clearly stated the intention of speed enforcement four comments down.

Speed enforcement is self-funding, it pays for itself, it is self-perpetuating, money is not being 'wasted'.

Mobile enforcement is the current national focus, around any bend or at the end of that long straight may sit an operation. It is about education, constant awareness of what is ahead & the speed you are selecting.

  • @GoVir4l Hi, I am not pro speed enforcement, just pro accurate information.

Unfortunately, as a conspiracy theorist, you will always feel obligated to envisage issues that simply only exist in your head.

  • fuck the greedy government and police.. they are both pieces of shit.

  • @tonytonytee How exactly do the police benefit financially?

  • @lollygaggle Tickets?

  • @KenanVideos You misunderstand - all fines go through the ticket office & directly to The Treasury. The police do not take a 'cut' or get any of it back - their annual budget is set in stone, the number of speeding fines does not influence anything.

    This is easily checked.

  • @lollygaggle I was asking a question really, I'm sure the police don't get anything themselves, but the system in general, like where does the money go to? I'm sure if they'd up the fine $20, it's gotta go somewhere. Thanks for the answer.

  • @tonytonytee very true.

  • Why Robert Plant?

  • Can you elaborate as to what advice on Pepipoo points to perverting the course of justice? From what I have read, everyone is very clear about correctly naming drivers with the s172 requirement etc.

    Which advice is outdated?

Motorists will only avoid prosecution if the legal system has failed to provide solid evidence or slipped up administratively speaking - there is no 'magic' advice, only ensuring issues such as timescales for NIP delivery are met.

  • @lollygaggle One forum member works in a magistrates court and there are police & CPS who go through all the possible defences and have used material in a forum to prevent things being used to avoid prosecution. The speed camera partnerships are also members using false names, that is why they started adding charges of copyright infringement when members posted photos of themselves speeding!

I would avoid those speed camera forums as you don't really know WHO the members are!!!!

  • @urbex2007 SCP using false names? I don't know of anyone who uses their 'real' names on Pepipoo.

I don't believe that anyone who has received a NIP cares who the memebrs are, so long as there is advice forthcoming.

I have never seen anyone give advice that constitutes PtCOJ - this is strictly forbidden.

I accept that it is very easy not to get caught speeding by sticking to the posted thresholds, but we both know that people don't & there will always be speeders.

  • The site still has people telling others how to get out of speeding. people working in a certain magistrates Court that are going to face disciplinary action soon. The advice on the site is questionable anyway, so best avoided.

A site with people who encourage others to do things considered as dishonest is not a good idea. Two people working at a Magistrates Court on that site will soon be dealt with by Police.

  • If partnerships leave loopholes open or fail to meet the s.172 14 day requirement, it is quite legal to offer advice.

What advice in your opinion is questionable or dishonest?

  • Put another way, you say that people in a magistrates court will be soon dealt with by the police. What law are they contravening exactly?

No need to identify the people, just state what illegal actions they are involved in?

  • A tax on everyday life, bastards

  • Are you saying that there should be no standard of driving that everyone is taught to adhere to?

  • Of coarse, but speed cameras have little to do with improving driving standards

  • Static speed cameras only cover less than 15 miles of UK roads, so of course they cannot influence national driving habits - they only alter behaviour at the locations where they are sighted.

There has to be a great many more cameras to have a real impact.

  • Where they are sighted is mostly in the places where its safe to drive faster, how would they collect any tax if they were all outside schools for example? Most drivers wouldn't think about speeding past a school anyway. Speed is not the majer issue when it comes to reducing road deaths, except for the very few hardcore speeders who are wreckless

  • So you admit there is no speeding issues outside schools, so why position any camera where it will not do what it is designed to?

Schools have human crossing patrols at start & close of play - cameras are not needed.

  • Exactly, if theirs no need for them in safe places why do they put them there? Il tell you why....£££££££££££. This is the most corrupt government we have ever had

  • I don't know of any static speed camera that is located at a 'safe place'.

Can you detail what a 'safe place' is?

  • Are you suggesting that everyone should be able to driive at whatever speed they choose?

  • Looks like easy money. Oh when will the police learn? **Sigh** BURN THE LTI 20/20!!

  • Equally one could say, when will the motorist learn?

You take driving lessons & then a test, every legal motorist knows the score - speed limits aren't a 'secret' , so I am unable to fathom what any operator of an LTI needs to learn?

In fact, are you aware that only 1.5% of all annual speeding fines are generated by serving police officers? All the rest come from civilian based enforcement.

  • Are you a policeman?

  • No, I am a session guitarist.

  • Sounds cool :-)

  • Dude, you make me laugh :)

  • There is not enough humour in the world, & if I have contributed in even a tiny way, then I thank you for highlighting it.

  • I agree, there is not enough humour in this world, but there are lots of people who trawl through YouTube looking for arguments.

  • I guess so, but the vast majority of people have very little clue about how speed enforcement really works (in the UK).

The whole question of the 2007 hypothecation changes simply floors them, so they is very little 'arguing' as it tends to be a one-sided debate.

Their core strategy is just to moan & complain, & they just look blank when confronted with Red-Routes, dummy radars, Community Speedwatch, Speed Awareness Courses & civilian based enforcement.

  • So what sort of music are you into? :-)

  • Fucking too right!! Lol!

I guess so, but the vast majority of people have very little clue about how being a total tool actually works.

The whole question of the 2007 hypothecation changes simply floors them, so there is very little 'arguing' as it tends to be a one-sided debate, especially when that one side is a closed minded self righteous tool.

Their core strategy is just to MOAN & COMPLAIN, & they just look blank when confronted with someone elses opinion.

    :)

  • Well if you don't consider first hand experience to be proof then I'm glad I didn't bother to look up any other references because it's very easy to debunk second hand info as from a faulty authority or biased etc etc.

The bottom line is that big cities using parking violations and traffic violations as a way to supplement income...in Montreal last year they gave a record number of fines and plan to break that record this year.

Also, police are given quotas to fill via citations.

  • The point also being that not all drivers that go over these speed limits are dangerous. Dangerous drivers are dangerous at any speed, granted more dangerous at higher speeds.

But if licenses were harder to get, or maintain at olderages, then the govs would lose twice. First on the registration and driving fees for each person and second for the potential citations they may receive.

If speed were such a danger then cars would be forced to stay below 100km. The real danger is morons and booz

  • So, 0 speeders, 3 burglars, 2 rapists, 5 robbers would be preferable?

The problem is - traffic division does not investigate burglaries, rape or robbery. That argument is intrisically flawed.

  • fascist

  • I prefer the term 'realist', as a great many motorists complain about traffic police not being out catching 'real' criminals.

However, if pointing out that the jurisdiction of traffic police starts and ends with traffic makes me a fascist, then I'm cool with that.

  • Shouldn't traffic police be keeping the roads safe rather than fattening the cities pockets by fining otherwise decent drivers.

I've never had a single accident or committed any crimes yet I've paid thousands of dollars in tickets mainly parking tickets.

Now you're going to say, just go the speed limit, park where you're supposed too...

Well that's fine and dandy...but it has been proven that speed limits vary erratically and irrationally on any stretch of road...

  • In the UK, most urban inner city roads are 30mph, with the very occasional drop to an advisory 20mph near schools. There are some changes on faster roads. Please supply a link to the 'proof' concerning the changes you claim about 'any stretch of road'.

Police don't deal with parking fines here, it is all civilian managed. Parking areas are very clear here.

Paid thousands in parking tickets? Do moose often stand in front of the signage, or is there a shortage of Canadian opticians?

  • I would think that the UK roads would use the metric system...so 30mph is the equivalent to 50kmph...

The proof is fist hand, the other day I drove 20 minutes down a stretch of highway which varied from 100km, down to 70, back up to 100, down to 70km again due to construction and then down to 50 for heavier construction

Here parking is subcontracted as well...and guess what the organization claims that they break even at the end of every year, zero profit.

  • And just to give you an idea of the system, its all electronic...so I park, put in 6$ and get 2 hours of parking...when I go back out to add money I can do so from any terminal...the only catch is that the time I add begins from when I add it.

So, I can essentially punch in the number of someone who just added 2 hours, put in 25cents and erase that guys 2 hours...in place of 10 minutes...but its ok cause he just has to fight the ticket, go to court and present the stub - wait he kept the stub?

  • With the greatest respect, in the first post you typed;

'..speed limits vary erratically and irrationally..'

    Then you say;

'due to construction and then down to 50 for heavier construction'.

Reducing speed where the road narrow or there are workmen about/contractor's vehicles is 'irrational'. This is the 'it has been proven that speed limits vary'.., proof?

All speed limit changes in the UK tend to be very clearly signposted. Yes, there are exceptions, but very few.

  • Thank you for providing an excellent example of misquoting and slander...since you took what I said and spun it to your liking and quite out of context.

I consider a speed limit VARYING 4 times thru 3 different speeds IRRATIONAL yes. If there is a construction zone then RATIONALLY it should VARY ONCE no? Normal speed and cautionary/construction zone speed.

I think you just debunked yourself quite properly. ;) congrats

  • Ah, the old 'switcheroony ploy'.

    You typed;

'..it has been proven that speed limits vary erratically and irrationally on any stretch of road...'

    I requested;

'..a link to the 'proof' concerning the changes you claim'.

You have avoided this in favour of wibberly-waffle mode in an attempt to cover the fact that the 'proof' is wholly just assumption on your part. In other words just your 'personal conclusions', i.e. 'I consider..'.

Life is however, based upon perspective.

  • Tell you what, as you are a conspiracy theorist who believes there is an unfair system designed to financially compromise motorists by deliberately & rapidly unjustifiably swapping one speed restriction for another so speeding fines can be imposed with impunity, you'll have no problem providing evidence to support your claims about the plans to break the record number of parking violations & traffic violations in Montreal.

    Precis plans & supply sources.

  • Conspiracies take many forms, however people like yourself who aspire to their labyrinthine & convoluted vaguerisms will always be prone to seeing things as being proven & beyond question.

Without any misquoting as charged, you have clearly stated 'proven' & 'plans to break records' - I requested your sources, but as expected we are whisked off on a perpetual wafflefest designed to avert the focus from the requested data.

Shame you don't have the grace to simply admit you just made it up.

  • Okay, the 'affronted card' is cool.

Remember that you initially responded to me, thus my comments are important to you, hence the ongoing dialogue.

It is however, very common for conspiracy theorists to crumble when asked for anything substantiave to back their claims.

Believe everything you read in the papers, they have your best interests at heart.

As for belts & helmets, you have any idea how much it costs our NHS system to keep someone in intensive care for a week?

  • I'll agree to the medical reasons to wearing a helmet and a seat belt...in the UK and Canada at least. IN the US you pay your own way.

When the municipal paper reports on the end year budget and the record supplement due to traffic violations I do take note...esp when its later reported in other channels.

And I know police officers and they have monthly quotas to fill.

  • Yes, Americans shouldn't bother to wear any form of protection, there are simply too many of them - all that hanging around on street corners wearing hairnets & string vests calling themselves Vinnie.

Serving police officers in the UK have performance figures to meet, although these are designed to reflect their societorial value, not their generated income, as the majority have no input to parking or speeding offences.

Most speeding here is dealt with by civilians not police officers.

  • Speed Cameras are good! you can see them a mile away, far better then some cop waiting behind a bush/lampost.Only twats get caught by cameras they were not paying attention so deserve all they get.

  • they are a necssary evil and they do make a difference, they make u slow down at the accident blackspots , u know where they are or will be its simple jsut slow down when they are they

  • I remmeber a story in the local press that a Mini-copper (the original) had been clocked by an automatic camera at 570'something MPH LMAO!

Even though its next to impossible to attain them speeds in a mini on public roads in the uk (lots of bends) the Police still tried to press charges

The case was eventually thrown out of court after erm.... a few minutes

  • Clocked at 570'something?

Static cameras are only capable of reading up to 170mph.

    State your sources?

  • What software? It is a manual process.

This was found to be completely made up nonsense as all the film is processed by hand and the only way a prosecution can be brought is BY viewing by a person - there is nothing automatic about it.

    You were fooled.

  • Well funny how the guy in the paper had been given a courts summons.

So someone isn't doing their job correctly.

If i find the paper (i doubt it) or find an online version i'll give you a link.

  • the driver of the silver Audi A4 pleaded guilty to driving at 97 mph and was fined £500 and received 5 penalty points

  • It's all a way to seperate you from your money-nothing else. Vote against these LIBERAL's and do your country a favor. Make them get real jobs.

  • If the money from the fines went to the victims of RTA's then i'm for it but does it hell! Like road TAX, does all of the money go to road improvements? NO! and all we have is pot holes everywhere, we have the worst roads in europe. bah... whats the point f*ck em all...

  • DEVON AND CORNWALL POLICE are robbing bast*rds. yes ALL of them. BURN ALL GATSO'S

  • How can it be theft if the drivers being fined have deliberately driven faster than the limit? They only have to slow down for a few feet - they don't see the big yellow box 10ft off the ground, the signs, the white markings on the road? The only people responsible are the braindead idiots that set speed cameras off by driving too fast in the tiny section of road where they need to drive a bit slower. They are probably not paying attention, or on their phone or swapping the CD. No excuse.

  • lollygaggle u prik noone cares about the fine its just the ban

  • Ban? What ban? The vast majority go on a three hour Speedchoice course and get a nice certificate at the end, which means just a fine and no points - do your homework.

Or do you mean the habitual speeders who lose their licence when they get to magic thirteen points? They don't deserve it?

  • if u gather 6 points in your first year u are required to take both theory and practical tests again as your lisence gets revoked.boom

  • Quite right too, drivers new to the road should not be going over the speed limit. These are exactly the people who need a wake up call. If they genuinely care about being banned = why risk their licence by ignoring the restrictions?

Personally, I would immediately ban them for two years for ignoring the rules of the road having just taken and passed their test.

Also, for those who say they should be out catching murderers instead - it is now mostly civilians in the vans, not police.

  • civilians in vans doin what ?? catching murders or speeding villans.

  • Further down the comments, it was mentioned that instead of being out catching 'real criminals', the police were out with mobile speed equipment prosecuting motorists.

The position now is that most of the staff who operate Safety Camera Partnerships' mobile LTI cameras are civilians, not police officers. So police are now longer involved in speed prevention/education and benefit in no financial way whatsoever from fines collected.

  • lollygaggle is the last person to talk about being brain dead he still watches thunderbirds

  • Haha,I've seen you say that on like 5 different videos now :-)

  • They can all die in fires tbh, btw whats the song? cant be bothered to google the lyrics

  • he was waving the cam all over the place how can you a proper readin from that thick cunts

I got done doing 34 in 30 in wales goin down hill twats

  • fucking twats!...Gwent police are shit they have this 1 little van that goes around newport they guy in there looks retarded!...same place everytime cardiff road corpa road..get a hobby!

  • dude wtf hes goin like 2 mph i go like 120 mph u fagget

  • Its just there job you mother fucking cunt

  • Yeah, and Gary Glitters job was a rock star.

Does that make it alright to molest kids?

  • there doing the right thing you moron of course its all right for them to do it, its people like you is why the police officers work night and day locking you dickheads up.

  • Its morally wrong catching people going 5 mph over the limit on roads such as the above.

I am all for speed traps near schools and stuff, but this is pathetic. I live near a pub,and drunks clamber out on a night and get in their cars. Where are the cops then?

    Pathetic!

  • WHAT THEIR DOING IS ILLEGAL, DICKHEAD! This is because the road rules contravene section 92 of our fundamental constitutional rights to travel freely on our roads.

It maybe their job, but their the REAL DICKHEADS because they are more interested in ILLEGALLY booking motorists for money than catching the people commiting REAL MORAL CRIMES such as murder, rape, robbery, assault, e.t.c

  • I would've thought that these people just see it as a job.. they've gotta pay the bills somehow! ;)

  • All of this theory however is utter bollox because as we all know, the only place where 'prior opinion' exists is in the operators statement.

  • All of this theory however is utter bollox because as we all know, the only place where 'prior opinion' exists is in the operators statement. BUT as they have to pretend that they did form the prior opinion analysis of the tape can sometimes show this to be untrue.

  • It is also worth remembering that the 'prior opinion' must come BEFORE (hence the inclusion of the word 'prior')the operator ATTEMPTS to obtain a reading. In other words, if you are lucky enough to get a copy of the video, his 'prior opinion' must have been formed before he starts 'tracking' you not just before he acquires a reading (think about it, Q. why is he tracking you and trying to get a reading? A. Because he has already concluded that your vehicle is speeding)

  • The operator is not forming a 'prior opinion' merely taking random shots at as many vehicles as possible. Totally unethical and illegal speed enforcement, very naughty!! No wonder they will fight tooth and nail to prevent you getting the full session tape because it will undermine and discredit the operators primary evidence that he formed a prior opinion first BEFORE deploying the Lti 20 20 ('speed camera')

  • Yet they still claim in a written statement to the court that they did form such an opinion and will swear so, under oath that they did also. Tell the Police about it and they are not interested. Perverting the course of Justice seems to be ok if you are a Police Employee.

  • Agree,

Just got 3 points 40 in 30mph up a hill heading into a 40mph zone!!

i cant believe we pay taxes to get slammed by idiots in camera vans!

  • Gwent police what a bunch of assholes. Would not mind if they were outside a school but as per usual on safe dual carridgeway. Scum of the earth

  • fuck the police

  • speed cameras should be abolished and the sceeming bunch of criminals who run our government should be shot, and not be replaced by the sceeming bunch of criminals who run the opposition parties.

  • At last a sensible person....

You give me hope that the country is not entirely inhabited by bootlicking slaves.

  • I love you both!

I'm soon to take out my first gatso, ^_^
