Sonic and the Black Knight - The Cauldron Legacy Mission

Can you use the other 3 characters in the legacy missions? I mean, technically you can use them in any red-spot mission but so far, ALL people I have seen in youtube only use them in their mandatory story stages (main mission for shrouded forest, great megalith and the cauldron). Since the cauldron is one of the worlds present after unlocking them I was wondering.

how do u 5* the legacy missions cuz idk if u have 2 get all rings, kill all enemies, get fastest time, all 3 at once or wat :#

Interesting... Controlling Sonic doesn't seem as... fluid. Maybe it gets better as you level up like in SatSR.
