It's not getting cancelled. It's Christmas time, and they have a slight month-long midseason break like they did in season 1 to A) stay out of the Christmas period and B) divide up the show's storyline, which goes by semester. NBC also recently ordered 2 season finale episodes to bring the total expected this season from 22 to 24 just last month.

It's also NBC's 2nd biggest sitcom, and it's still holding it's own while running against Big Bang Theory. The show is going to be fine.

seeing as i am from canada, i know that if a show gets over 1 million viewers the show is a success. if you are canadian, you'll know shows such as corner gas, little mosque on the prarie and lost girl all average or averaged less than 3 million viewers per episode. lost girl only 700 000 and has already been picked up for its second season by showcase. its alot different in the US. the networks are only driven by ratings and money. except for the good ones ie. AMC HBO ect.

I'm afraid that they can't chronologically keep the show going for much longer, because typically full-time college only lasts four years... Or in my case seven.
