I did not make comments in a single perspectives. I have many Singaporean friends and I also talk and monitor how maid, taxi drivers, security guards, cleaners, construction workers, teachers and those non elites worker are treated. I see many discrimination, irresponsible and dis respectable situation many times which I never seen in other countries. I think this discrimination or value are implemented by government and people are just obey very quietly and struggling life.

And when you say that you have to pay so much for a home, remember that some of these expatriates have full housing subsidy and stay in much better homes than the average Singaporean. For foreigners who are non-expat, what they are paid should also be sufficient for them to want to stay here.

I know someone who has to work 2 jobs just to keep he food on the table for his family. for one this is in no way as bad as other countries so before driectly insulting us please look at others whom may not have solved there housing problems and most of the homeless are foreign worker or those whom refuse or do not bother with the governments health care, CPF etc. and most of these people are also nation builder whom did not have enough CPF funds but there are still easy altrenative such as recycling can for money. which is what many elderly do today

I have many Singaporean friends and I also talk and monitor how maid, taxi drivers, security guards, cleaners, construction workers, teachers and those non elites worker are treated. I see many discrimination, irresponsible and dis respectable situation many times which I never seen in other countries. I know one thing.
After spending 16 ( out of my life's total of 18 ) overseas holidays in Singapore I may never visit again. The PAP will never admit that the retirement entitlements can't be cashed in because the money is simply not there any more. It has become nothing more than a legal Ponzi Scheme. The country is pretty but it's a fragile veneer. I am pissed off because I loved visiting there.

Without foreigners, who will be in retail/healthcare and call centre etc. You ? Lets be honest, to some degree, we need them. Lets not pretend to be dumb. The idea of "protectionism" does not include the idea of minimal wage system. We can sit down and talk over pros-cons of MWS, but I first have to let you see the problem in influx of FT. If you think "there's been a little too much foreigners coming in...", be prepared for another 1.5 mil more in 10 years time.
Just how much % of FT do you think we'll lose our identity as SGreans? 70%? 85%? 90% perhaps? The current FT is at 40.7%. Adding 1.5 mil more roughly guages to 63% at least.

You have to look at more countries with experiences in handling GDP and growth issues. Saying "GDP means everything" means you have not understood why some of the core economies in the world are facing problems long-run/short-run.
I'm not going to deny working hard/better qualified certifications will get you a better position in the industry. But I must tell you I hear voices in recruitment here, Masters in local degrees(FT) are asking for 2.5k sgd. I hope you must clearly see the problem

And when you say that you have to pay so much for a home, remember that some of these expatriates have full housing subsidy and stay in much better homes than the average Singaporean. For foreigners who are non-expat, what they are paid should also be sufficient for them to want to stay here.

I don't understand what's wrong with that. If you compare Singapore and America, both are doing well - and Singapore is smaller than America. The ministers' earnings of 3 mil/yr as you stated does not really affect the people. It's not as if they're taking all the money away - SG GNI per capita is pretty high compared to SEA countries.
Just my opinion: those who complain about this are those who are financially-troubled and are just looking for someone to make a scapegoat of.

I know someone who has to work 2 jobs just to keep he food on the table for his family. I know a taxi driver who does not dare think about retirement, and the CPF from his past jobs, mostly put into housing, and yet has 2 sons who have a long way to go in their education. The same thing has been going on for my family while our ministers earn millions. Just think.

What do you expect the government to do? Hold up a charity booth and give away tens and thousands of dollars to these less fortunate people for no reason at all? They were probably responsible for their situation right now; why didn't they ace their education? Why don't they work? You can't expect a cleaner to earn a 5 digit income.

About NS, only 2nd generation need.if your male child is PR, you can revoke it and you can still retain your PR.PR can also buy HDB, and they can buy and sell and buy a big land in their country with the money earned.When you start working, you will know many FTs is also doing same jobs as you not just Garbage collecting, dirty jobs that government claims.The place that i am in internship last time, has a 26 year old guy from Indonesia that never do NS,even thought he is a PR

i for one think this is some anti-PAP message and most of the homeless are elderly so I dont see how they are going to do pro-long manual labour therefore making the canceling of foregin workers pointless because there is a complete lack of people willing to take up manual labour in singapore. also most of these people often refuse help when given. and please check the CPF scheme becuase your point of where the CPF money goes is highly irealistic

for one this is in no way as bad as other countries so before driectly insulting us please look at others whom may not have solved there housing problems and most of the homeless are foreign worker or those whom refuse or do not bother with the governments health care, CPF etc. and most of these people are also nation builder whom did not have enough CPF funds but there are still easy altrenative such as recycling can for money. which is what many elderly do today

if we banned all foreign labour from coming in, would we be fine with the increase in cost? would we be happy eating chicken rice which cost $5 a place at hawker centres? even buying a flat would be more expensive without foreign workers. we complain when things get too expensive, we complain when government trying to help us reduce cost.

Singaporeans' life can be improved if they set their sights a bit lower, not all hardworking people have a uni cert or a even a PSLE cert, but even though they are willing to work, some employers may not want to hire because of low education.
