This was great advise thank you for posting. This is ideal for getting the design and placement right BEFORE going into a shop and having it done. Plus it is much more economical and convenient then having to trow down for the professional stuff, since it is just for the trial runs. I am designing a tat for my friend and this was perfect to get it right. So now he can go into a shop and know exactly what he wants, how he wants it, and where he wants it.

I can appreciate keeping a loose artistic feel such that you can ad lib from an image if your stencil goes south. but, if you want a tattoo to look like it did in that nifty sketch book, the more time you take to trace your lines (if you dont use a thermal image copier) through each step from drawing to skin the image will keep that integrity. Having a dark sturdy detailed stencil is important.
Use speed stick and spirit or "ditto" paper. don't glob it on, use a light film. Pro glycol in the deodorant will dissolve the ink and transfer it sharply and accurately onto the skin. let this sit for 5 mins then lightly dab, DON'T wipe with a dry sterile gauze perhaps the one you use to transfer the "fresh" bottle of speed stick, after another 5 mins wipe the edges of the stencil and dab again, try a little green soap on your gauze and dab, wait another five mins and wipe lightly. sturdy image
keep tracing paper on a flat surface then put a carbon paper facing ink-side down and then put ur design on back of the carbon paper then with a pen/sharp object go over the line and then u get the design on ur tracing paper ~~~~======------->>>>>>>>>>> how to trace it in my skin? wut kinda stuff do i need to apply on my skin? water is ok? PLEASE REPLY SOON!!!!!! :<
I'm assuming this is for the same people who make their machines out of a CD player motor...If you dont know how to use thermal paper like spirit or ATSUI you shouldn't be tattooing, this is going to come off with greensoap.
hey man, cool vid, didn't know it was that easy! i'm from ireland too, tipperary! i heard you can just use like a roll on deodrant to wet the area before applying the stencil to make it stand out better? what do you use? i'm just about to order my first tattoo kit so any other advice would be cool!
really you can use any type of paper as long as you have alcohol or deodorant, all my ink i did my self with homeade ink,gun and materials when i was locked up in the penn.
Its hella easy to transfer, you dont even need a felt tip,you can use any type of ink pen as long as it aint a pencil.
But thats the "Crappy Prison" way and alot of people dont like doing it like that, but i can draw so my shit turns out just like if i went to a shop.
Then after the first wipe over it will rub off and your left with half a design. Dude dont tell ppl to do it like this, get proper spirit paper off ebay cause its fkn hard to rub off...this way just sux and is wrong and if ya cant even get spirit paper wtf ya doin even tryin to tattoo..your setting people up to FAIL....do it the proper way ffs..
@zeffman99 that rubs off just as easy im affraid we use it we also use carbon paper its a case of being carefull when yr tattoing not to rub away the lines u will need
The impression from the pen ink sticking to the skin probably wouldn't last long. When tattooing, you constantly wipe of the access tattoo ink so it wouldn't be so messy but when you do this, there will be a degradation of the design fading making it harder for you to tat over. Stick to using thermal paper and use a stencil pro application cause that will difinitly make your design stick to the skin like no other. If your going to be cheap at least us a deodorant instead of water.
whether its inking the outline you have to wipe off the excess ink because your hand smears it across the design. So its not a good idea to use a template that is barely visible. Unless you know how to free hand it. Most professionals will use a heavy duty application cause they don't want to take the chance of ruining the design.
@teck4201 certain tattooist will tell u not to rub but to dab for that reason but wat ever paper u use to transfer the stencil all rubs off fairly easy
great video if you're learning to do it by yourself, I mean not everyone can buy a stencil machine, but it is just cool, just a tip, it is better if you use a transparent deodorant, cause with water it doesn't stay too long for working on it... but well done
this is a really good tip, i wouldmt of though of this, saves a fortune in the carbon tattoo paper. im not a tattooist in any way shape or form before some idiot slags me off for commenting. i found this really useful for stencils for henna tattoos. thanks for sharing
Another good tip is when your done tattooing, pour the remaining ink back into the bottle for latter instead of wasting it.
