  • my dick cuts faster than that

  • with all that mud try sharpening ur saw with less angle.more straight across.the chain will stay sharp longer.try it with an old chain first see what you think.

  • Good video mate. I've been getting sharpening practise last couple of weeks. Had to cut 40 odd Iron Bark trees down. 3 cuts and sharpen again.

  • cheers mate :) thought i was a nucence

  • ahh okay the fella just thought id give you a bit of help mate. Sorry fo bein a pain in the ass mate

  • no bud you are fine i really appriciate the help

  • i use 25,30,35 angles and 30 works out best

  • 30 degrees on the teeth is perfectly okay chris its the proper angle your supposed to sharpen at just thought id tell you that its correct as you did ask in your video mate happy cutting

  • thanks i just wnated to verify

  • it was ported their right?

  • yes but it is lightly ported so not much more power more for sound

  • Nice chips son. Where is your PPE??? lol

You know I gotta pick on you.

  • thanks dad i need to fix my chaps

  • git r done!

  • Stihl all the way McCormick saws are good thou my grandfather likes those

  • I actually got into an argument with someone about filing the rakers. He insists that they should be almost the same height as the cutting teeth. He says if you file them down the saw will kick too much. It was a work saw and not mine so I did what he said and it sucks. The saw stops cutting the second the teeth get even a little dull.

  • i always cut mine low the saw has enough power to pull the through no time no see were you been

  • stihls are beast

  • for sure

  • What's your handle on AS?

  • wvlogger

  • wow if that was a race chain then it would have lost for sure

  • Here's an example: 1° of pitch in 12" of run is 13/64"... Now 1° of pitch in 3/16" is 0.00033" !! That's a teeny amount! 5° across the distance of a tooth is 20 thousandths... A little thicker than a business card.

  • Those were the variances in tooth angles, when I checked them with the program. I think the 45° angle could have been a perspective thing... I just checked it again, and it's more like 29° and 33°... So that's really not too bad. You have to remember with angles, 1° is a little tiny change in the distance of a tooth.

So being between 29° and 33° on each tooth is pretty good for consistency. :)

  • before i got on arborist site and learned so much you should have seen my butchered chains i am so thankful for everyones help

  • It sure does feel good to learn, and see the improvements when you're in the bush. :)

Try that 25° top plate angle, and knock .033" off your raker's, and let me know what you think? A good test for a good sharp chain, is to set the saw in a log, and don't use the dog's at all... Let the saw pull itself through the cut.

  • alright i have to cut about 5 loads of wood tommorow so i will file it up tonoight and let you know how it goes thanks bud

  • i use my file guide to find the angles and always free hand my rackers

  • I just plugged a picture of your chain into a CAD program... And the teeth are reading between 29° and 45°... Not too bad if you're eyeballing while you sharpen.

  • 29 and 45 what was the 45

  • yep your have learned very well. people usually will never learn the fine art of sharpening if they follow the factory guide to the letter. filing a saw chain is an in exact science because we all like different sawz and different chain types. i see you found that 30 degrees cuts well . i say stick with it and you and go easy on the riders height . one thing i do one filling is use the same number of strokes on each tooth for both sides.

  • good video man. whats bumping knots? can i come up and hep you with this? lol

  • cutting knots off of the logs job will be over by this weekend better hurry lol

  • lol got ya. you mean where branches were?

  • yep thats it will dull a chain fast most are full of dirt

  • that sucks. keep a file on hand lol

  • sorry ment arboristsite name mines chainsawboy1996

  • oh a knew what you ment

  • whats yer as name mines the same as my youtube

  • wvlogger
