Just to show you how hard it is to control, I have been doing half flips very controlled for about a month, which it took me 2-3 months to get, and I am just moving on to a mobius loop.
Thanks for the tutorial. I also watched Bert's SmackTalkRC PiroFlip video. He gave a very clear explanation on what is happening for each 1/4 piro/flip which I like the most, but it is difficult to learn by following his approach. Yours is a lot easier and it becomes natural after many hours of practising.
I think this is the best Piro flip tutorial video you can watch. Complete with half singles and doubles. Thats what got me confused. before but this surely cleared that up
Hey. I used you vid to learn. now going back it looks like during your "continuous single piroflip".(3:55).. your doin a "full inverted" and a "half right side up" am i wrong?
@poitka80 No they are full piros on both halves (though I do admit they are a bit sloppy so I can see why you asked.) Watch the stick and you'll see a full stir on both halves.
THANKS for your great explanation! It is by far the most intelligent way to start learning the piroflips. By dividing the move in its 3 main-part-moves. in that way I have learned it very fast, because NO pilot I ever asked at the field could intellectually explain what he was doing there- they said only-"i just move the stick like that" but they did really not know what they were doing. They just flew it, and could not teach me. YOU DID!
This video ruled. Its by far the best explained out there. Seems like the others are to show off. I acctually took my heli in my hands and yawed to the left as i rolled it away from me to see how this maneuver works. LOL Thanx man !!
3 people don't like this video?,, this is a lesson never try to please everyone because there is going to be somebody you will never please, (By the way great video).
Thanks, this has helped me tremendously. I'm starting to get the full Piro now on Helisim. I suspect it will be a while before I try any Piros on my Blade CP / CP Pro 2.
@andy765gtr there are no "slowed down parts" If you really think this is way too fast for you then you are not even close to being ready for piro flips anyways. You shouldn't even be thinking about piro flips until you can invert hover solid in all orientations and you should also have decent collective management skills. come back to this later...
@wrprince hi, your probably right, im 'running before i can walk' on this one
but being a glutton for punishment, i converted your vid to quicktime, which you can slow down vid by 1x lol
and after a million crashes, can now do a very loose basic 360 flip in both directions. it goes all over the place but im getting there and can usually control the inverted part as long as it ends up tail or nose in, not inbetween. v easy to get the elevator pushes confused and end up the wrong way up.
@wrprince oh come on....some poeple are having fun with their simulators only. And extreme slowmo would help indeed, as it´s impossible to 1. listen to u, 2. watch the heli movement while 3.compare it to your stick movements at the very same milisecond. So one has to watch it several times. - Nevertheless, your instructions are an awesome enrichment here! Thanks a lot!
@nothingfreeanymore no problem, I feel everyones pain. This is a very complicated maneuvar to perform and needs TONS of practice and an extensive background in basic skills. I expect you would want to watch the vid a few dozen times until you start to get a feel for what is being talked about. (Not trying to promote anything it's just the reality of it) Rip the video and watch it on your computer if you need to like Andy did. Cheers
@andy765gtr wrprince is right. I found making sure that you can do uprite and inverted piros comfortabley, very helpfull too. This is the most helpful tutorial iv seen. taught me. The g5 sim claims a full piro to be a half, when a half is clearly a half as wr prince shows.
Awesome video my man. Someone pointed me to your videos after watching my Genius 500 video. I am glad to have found such a nice tutorial on piro flips. I was having troubles figuring them out and breaking them down. This one is very well described. 5 stars ;)
This is the best explanation of the piro flip i have ever seen. Thank you for taken the time to go over it step by step. With just watching this video i was able to do the half flip within 3 minutes. Thank you again
awesome video mate, thanks alot, theres some real good practice moves I have learned, theo ne annoying thing is that I fly mode 1 :( lol, thanks alot,
I have another video with some mode 1 stick movements. Check that out. If I may make a suggestion though, and I hope I don't sound too arrogant, but do yourself a favor and switch to mode 2 if possible. Mode 1 really doesn't make a lot of sense for helis.
Honestly, if you had said that to me 2 years ago, I would have considered :D but I am WAY too used to mode 1 right now to even consider switching lol, I will just have to do extra practice and cope with it, because I get what you mean, the mode1 controls arent as easy as the mode 2
I understand your pain. However still give it a consideration. If you are ready for piro flips then you will be doing yourself a big favor since ALL piro moves are based on curve type stick movements on the cyclic. Piro flips on mode 1 are EXTREMELY complicated since elev and aileron are on different sticks. Its like trying to draw perfect circles on a $2000 flying etch-a-sketch but 100 times harder lol.
I seriously give mode 1 guys a lot of credit. That is really really hard..
lol yer true, but I dont find it at all too hard, when I first saw the lesson on piro flips on G3.5, later that night I was doing semi piros, only got a semi piro 1 in a 100 times tho :D but after watching this video, I cn do it pretty well, its looking pretty "boxy" but after a while it will look sexy :D Thanks mate.
i can do piroflips with ease followin this video thx u
