the're are a few mistakes with this move, like what if its a full guard or being rolled over when putting your knee on his chest. going to the oppisite side is the fundamental way to escape but after that im not
I find that by bringing up the knee I open myself momentarily to bridging sweeps - would'nt sliding to north-south be more efficient? That way you immediately nullify the choke, have better base and a stronger pin, and it's much easier to isolate both of your opponents's arms.
Great instruction BTW, please don't take my remark as smart-alec - it's just that the main problem here as I it, is establishing a firm top position - the choke is ineffective without guard/half guard anyways.
in my fights that id have it's true it's is a pain to get out of that damn choke next time around i'll have the knowledge on how to counter this choke il keep that "What Limbs Do I Have Left" saying with me awesome man
i sometimes plant my knee on their neck or side of the face, gently of course, than apply some pressure. less stable that way though. thanks for the tip!
Stephan, when you bring your knee up to pry off his arm, it appears that you create some space in between you and the attacker. Wouldn't he be able to hip out, get his knee under you and end up in a more favorable guillotine position?
Can this technique be used if the opponent is going for a neck only gullitine and attempting to pull full guard? I imagine it would be harder to scoot around.
Cool! I'm glad that people are experimenting with lots of different escapes. The real take-home message of the video is the concept of "What Limbs Do I Have Left," and that can be used to create all sorts of different escapes and counters
@StephanKesting i really like the way you approach BJJ, always really interesting and insightful, major props to you,btw where is your school located?
