this is the first time i have ever heard Nico, and i am impressed. She had a very haunting voice, very unusual. I enjoyed this! She reminds me of a female Jim Morrison
Nico would have appreciated being described as a 'female Jim Morrison'. Or as she called him "Jeeem". She was already 43 in this recording. It's worth hearing her voice when she was in her 20s too ... still haunting but not quite so deep. Nice feedback, Dom. :-)
thank you for this version of this song&especially the pics.this woman is an icon in music.her death is/was tragically.if i see sometimes the pics from her i´ve been thinking always the same:"....her beautiful eyes...pure sorrow....persons like NICO are very very rare in this world today.so thank u twice for this beautiful upload.cheers TheSuendenfall
Thank you very much for your two thank you's. :-) I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures chosen here. She is just so wonderfully photogenic. I echo all your sentiments.
"To see the world in a grain of sand, and Heaven in a wild flower" wrote Blake. Had he met Nico, he would have added "To see the world in Nico's eyes ..."
I adore this version of Saeta ... so sombre yet poignant. Bless you. : )
This is very beautiful. Ari, her son, stole the recordings from Fata Morgana and released them without The Faction's permission. The Faction had to sell their instruments because of all the money they lost.
Thank you for the information. I'm sorry to hear about what happened to the Faction here. They deserved better, having supported Nico well. It is a cut-throat business sadly. As you say, this is a very beautiful recording.
I had the Hanging Gardens album on cassette many years ago, and listened to it many, many times. An exquisite song, as are all the tracks from this album. It really should be re-released on CD, I checked earlier and it's currently available used only, so I'm guessing it's out of print. And I seem to recall that it was an unauthorized release as well.
Thank you for your feedback and I agree with your comments. My upload is from the cd itself. Her last concert must have been rather special.I recall that day in 1988 when I heard of her death and that moment remains with me. She packed alot into her 49 years and her legacy is eternal.
