@shnaz2 - What an unpleasant comment! To call them simpletons is so far out of touch that I'm surprised you're on the same planet as the rest of us. You may not like The Beatles, but to label them as you have calls into question as to who is the simpleton!
@paulkate72 yeah you know what, your right. Your absolutely right. I'd say I've grown (a little at least) since i typed that ignorant comment however, so don't you worry but yes looking back on that it was extremely rude and arrogant. I apologize to all lovers of music I offended.
Great memories of the 1930's...out of high school in 1940, flew bombers for the Air Force WWII, followed the Miller Sound all those years. Now at 89, I still remember the thrill of that music. @jnorth577
@thebuzzard577 How wonderful from someone who was there when this music was king! Well, you've lived long enough to know good music from bad. And it was good then, wasn't it? Don't think much good has come since, other than in the 60s - that too, was a special decade for music. Nice comment - thanks for the memories!
@bilbomarks - You're likely right. Music nowadays doesn't seem to have the enduring quailty it did in days gone by just the same. This song is very mellow. How many songs of our time can that be said of? Thanks for your comments.
@paulkate72 I don't know how old you are, so "our time" is in limbo as of now. I'm 22. There's plenty of music from "my time" that can be called "mellow" and pretty much every other descriptor you can think of. Also, "enduring" is pretty subjective. This song, a fantastic song in its own right, still sounds like a 30's ass tune. While something like the Beatles "I want You" has no timely feel, which fits the definition "enduring" more so in my book.
@bilbomarks go listen to mr. sexo or something you dork. and anything from the beatles sounds like a 60's ass tune..just sayin'..let's all just be honest already
@bilbomarks You put down1930's music, but the Beatles still were only three guitars and a drum, not an orchestra. That, coupled with the electronics enhancements enabled the Beatles to appear to be something larger than they really were. Anyway, the Americans in those days didn't stay in bed with their mistress for a week like John and Yoko to protest the war, neither did they run to Canada like the gutless cowards of your generation. They went out and won the war, something you never did.
I was channel surfing on t.v. just now and heard this song at the end of some movie! I absolutely LOVE it!!! I had heard it a long time ago and had forgotten about it...it's not from my era but it is so beautiful...and what a smooth, beautiful voice this man had. Thank you for posting it :)
@vandywilliam - Am in total agreement here. He was special. Frank Sinatra became a monumental star later as a solo artist, but even he wasn't as good as Ray Eberle in this eara.
Next to Al Bowlly and Ray Noble or Al with Lew Stone, this man with Glenn Miller is the greatest combo in music history - Ray had the voice of the times and no-one surpassed him. Nearly as good as Al Bowlly a decade earlier
@IAmFaroe Thanks for your comment. But yes, there are some similarities with the singers. Frank Sinatra with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra was also very good.
@honeybee7700 - Well it's always refreshing to hear someone else's view. I guess we differ on who's better Ray Eberle or Frank Sinatra as band singers, but we can say "thank goodness" for variety. Thanks for your comments, honeybee7700
Thank You so much for posting this. I love this song, reminds me of my mother.

@shnaz2 - It's to your credit that you've said what you have here. It takes humility to do that, so thanks for taking the time to do so. Cheers!

There were many Big Band era vocalists, but in my opinion, Ray Eberle was the best among the male singers of that era.

@paulkate72 To me he sounds like all other guys from that era. But, I don't want to say that I know too much about it. :-)
